The latest: My Surface needs replacing under the warranty. The fan on the left side of my Surface is making a horrible noise, air is coming out from it, and it is getting hot. So I'll be without it until around Wednesday. This all is almost comical. If something can go wrong, it will.

On a side note, I don't think I've ever had a better customer service representative than I had with Microsoft today. I mean, so wonderful that I feel like sending Microsoft a letter saying how great he was.
good to know you're getting a replacement! annoying when something goes wrong!

Also, talk about one hell of a day.

My mother had to deliver her jeep to get the ceiling "carpet" fixed and glued.
So I lent her my car.. guess what happened? she broke my car.. :/
I swear.. out of 8 times the car as broken down.. 6 has been when my mother (70%) or my sister (30%) used the car.
I HAVE NO IDEA HOW BAD THEY DRIVE to always cause damage to my car.
the worst? the repairshop is swamped with jobs. At least they said they ;re not gonna charge me money, because its still under guarantee.
And here I was hoping I could already get my car to get the tires aligned and have it finally working at 100%.

nope D:

and then.. my mom's jeep had a small failure (the ceiling lamp was on 100%, making it a serious fire hazzard as the lamp gets hot)
so we had to return, get it fixed, and done.

on the good side.. I bought my new camera lens and my boss will get it to my country when she comes to visit next week.

Yup. The few times when I've had to call Microsoft Customer Service, they've been great. I called and said that my Surface was heating up in the left corner, making a noise from that corner, and air was coming out, and I said I believe it's the fan and that the unit would need to be replaced. The guy told me I was exactly right, that it needed to be replaced. I had him call over to my local Microsoft Store to see if I could do the exchange there. They didn't have my tablet in stock, so then the customer support person handled my replacement order What I liked was that he believed me right away when I told him the problem, and he handled it in a timely manner, and was friendly even after I told him I was a student (sometimes I don't get the greatest customer service if they know my age). But the thing that I like about Microsoft's customer support is that they always fix the issue and they don't argue with you.

With my old Surface, I called support to replace the power cord. They sent it right away and didn't even have me send back the old one. I fixed the old one with a little glue and then had two power cords (I didn't want to just glue the old one though; I was afraid they wouldn't take it back if I did that). The other time was for more tips for my pen.

I'm just glad that this happened now and not during finals week and not right after my surgery when I could barely type and was basically using the pen. Oh, and that it happened before the warranty was up. It'll just mean I have to lug the laptop on Tuesday. Which my back won't be happy about, but it's necessary.

I hear ya. Given the amount of issues I've had with my car lately, I sympathize.

I never had an Advent calendar as a child, but what a cool idea to give out little gifts each day! :)

My kids really have very fond memories of advent. Of course Christmas Day was exciting but between a mega day at my Folks Christmas Day, then Christmas Morning here, Christmas at my inlaws, Christmas was exciting but very overwhelming for all of us. Advent was much smaller but something anticipated every morning. On Christmas Eve I got smarter and usually they got a coveted VHS/DVD they really really wanted which bought me a couple of hours on Christmas Eve to have time to pull all the Christmas stuff together.

I haven't been in a wreck in almost 30 years (knock on wood - my head ;)), and I can still parallel park in 2 moves. :D :)

I'm still pretty OK at parallel parking I have a little more problems though in my SUV over a car. The one thing I learned when I bought this vehicle that I never considered before was to drive the freak'n thing in reverse when test driving. Do to my height I have more issues with blind spots than any other car I've owned going in reverse and changing lanes. It is how far I have the seat pulled forward and the alignment of the headrests in row two blocking the far back windows which block the view changing lanes and in reverse. I use my mirrors far more in this vehicle than I have in any other car but the depth perception while parallel parking isn't the same as looking out a window

In the case of parallel parking a rented minivan, well I've never been overly comfy with any rent a car. On this road trip in the parking garage of the hotel I was in slow mo trying to get out of the parking spot. Annoying.

ME TOO!! I keep telling him that he doesn't need to drive for everything...he can ask a friend to take him to appointments or to pick up a prescription, or ask if he can go along to the grocery store, and I told him that if he happens to have a stroke while he's driving, he could kill someone, so he HAS been staying with friends who actually live closer to town a lot. Otherwise he has a 40 mile drive to get groceries. These people only live 10 miles out, and they will drive him. So it's better than it was, but I'd still like to have his license revoked so maybe he would move into town where someone could look in on him each day. But, at least he made the concession that he stays with these friends when he has an appointment or needs to run errands. And they are complete saints for driving him all over the place. So the only driving he has to do is to their house and back, which is mostly on country backroads where there's no traffic, so at least if he gets into an accident he's less likely to hurt anyone other than himself. I still don't like it, and I don't want him to get into an accident, but I think it would be worse if he hurt someone else.

And that is where I am with my Dad. There have been several accidents but none his fault per say and legally. Still he seems to have lost that defensive driving ability some thing some never develop, to anticipate what is going on around them. When they are involved in too many accidents, none their fault that they seem to loose or lack judgement in defensive driving to avoid what is avoidable their fault or not.

So pretty. Saw a lot of this the last few days on my DD and my road trip. We had a very lovely hotel with the most comfy beds, something about new squishy pillowtop beds. Reminds me of the Swan and Dolphin beds. The colors of the trees south of us are better than ours up here, we had a cold snap that seem to halt the color changing this year. While we were gone there was some very high winds and what remained of leaves came down in a few days before changing. Sadness. I hate stick trees and they will remain that way now to mid tolate April likely. :(

Had a great time with DD on our roadtrip. Lots of amazing fall fix'n food, hot ciders, pumpkin cheese cakes. One thing more yummy than the next. We went to a rural craft fair, these folk are very talented and unlike here the crafts are affordable. My DD collected some more decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas for her place, one cuter than the next.

Plus we had a meal at Cracker Barrel. Their braised pot roast was beyond amazing. Could just cut with a fork, gravy luscious. While it came with their famous carrots and mashed potatoes we both ordered the hash brown casserole 'cause how can one go to Cracker Barrel without hash brown casserole???? :geek:

Not Disney but a great trip. Just love traveling with my kids.

Also, I watched Inside Out last night, and I loved it. It was so clever. And hilarious. I liked it so much I'm probably going to watch it again right now

And my feelings on Inside Out was one of the worst I've seen since the last Winnie the Pooh Movie. Me, I thought it was just too much focus on Sadness. Inside Out reminded me of so many of the children's books and novels focusing on kids being sad and depressed along with bad things happening to them. It was meant as a kids movie and my take on it was it missed the mark on what kids could relate to. Not a good balance in the overall minutes of the film of sadness to uplifting. Likely why I don't watch A Wonderful Life.

We are an odd family that way. Rarely do we drive each others cars. We know we can, we just rarely do. My DDs car is the smallest so I tend to insist that she takes mine when she is doing highway driving or when it snows hard and she has to travel because mine has
4x4. For the most part we all drive what is considered our own cars.

That is too bad, it is a nice green alternative to dryers. I really don't like my clothes line dried, they always feel stiff, but I don't mind drying blankets and sheets outside.

In nice weather I dry all of our dry fit shirts and shorts outside. They turn out soft and they don't wrinkle like they do in the dryer. In the colder months I hang them on the conduit pipes downstairs.

But there was a point to it: You can't be happy all the time; Sadness had her place. When she couldn't feel sad or happy, she started acting out, but then finally allowing herself to feel some sadness helped make everything better. Joy and Sadness had to learn to work together.

This one was directed more towards older kids and adults and families, not young kids. I think I appreciated it more as an adult and having taken introductory psychology. Also, it reminded me of Cranium Command.

Haha, well, the thumb is better, got more movement in it. But my index finger's metacarpal is cracked, so I have very little use of my index finger. Probably happened during surgery. I go back for another x-ray in two weeks. Doc's thinking it will heal on its own, but we have to keep a check on it. I suspected something was wrong because I could barley use it. It would flop around when I would type. It won't bend all the way down with the rest of my fingers into a fist. All my other fingers are fine and basically normal. I have to compensate by using other fingers when I type or play piano. I've never had a broken bone...until this.
