I can honestly say that I have very little knowledge on the aboriginal sect, so I will bow to your knowledge of that. If you ask @JenniferS I'm sure she will tell you that my focus on Canada is limited, eh! The only two things that I know for sure about Canada is that my X-wife was from there and the best smoked meat sandwich in the world was always served at Dunn's in Montreal. Oh, yea and number three... Coffee Crisp candy bars are just awful. ;)

Your knowledge of Canada is quite skewed. Swartz's has the best smoked meat and Coffee Crisps rock. ;)

Both they United States and Canada are located on the North American Continent, therefore denial will not change that fact that they are Americans in the sense of the area of the world that they live. No matter how many times anyone says it they are living on this continent. But, that is up to them if that is the way they feel, that is the way they feel. Regardless being a Native American is not an insult in any sense of the word. It's strictly language, not ideology.

We will have to agree to disagree.

And oh yeah, Ski's GF is Ojibway, but identifies herself as Canadian first, Native second; and I've only ever heard her refer to herself as Ojibway when I specifically asked her tribal affiliation.

Sorry...I'm talking more about the Nations as groups and not specific individuals. Sure, there are Aboriginal people who don't care one way or the other...and you see this discrepancy within all cultural groups (immigrants, regional identities, etc.). But there are people who care and that's my point. We should respect that.

I can relate in a sense. I am a Maritimer. The Maritimes happen to be located in Canada but I care much less about Canada than I do about the Maritimes. I know there are others that feel differently.

Yes
Today was pretty chill. School wasn't that bad, and I got to pick up Aladdin Diamond Edition afterward! I had a short chat with the CM at the store about our favorite movies. He said he doesn't hear that many people who say The Fox and the Hound is their favorite. He was pretty excited (as am I) that animal movies are making a comeback.

Well isn't that special. :cautious:

There's growing confusion about how would-be flyers from Louisiana, Minnesota, New Hampshire and New York will board planes when provisions of the Real ID Act go into effect. Because their state ID and driver's license processes fail to meet federal standards, passengers from those four states would likely need a passport or, in the case of non-citizens, immigration documents for air travel within the United States.

How? How do 'we' get to this point within our own boarders? :cyclops:

I'm thinking it's because we let them do it to us. So much for by the people, for the people in today's government. It's getting more an more obvious that people that are smart enough to govern are also smart enough to stay away from it. We don't have to lower standards, we have already hit bottom.

Maybe it depends where you are from and how the word was used. First Nations people used to be called "Indians" here which was not only culturally incorrect but has been used in a derogatory way. Some people say native and I think that's fine but officially it is aboriginal, which is what the First Nations have asked to be called. There's nothing wrong with the word. It just means the first inhabitants of a place. It is important to them that it is emphasized that they were, in fact, here before Europeans or anyone else.
probably because I'm at the other end of the spectrum? I'm Mexican and we've had our doze of serious racism, hate and discrimination. Even on these days.
More specifically on "cool kids"(aka, online teenagers and young adults who think insulting, throw racism remarks left and right and other belittlement stuff, makes them "cool") online.

but I agree with that you say. After all, I think you're the one with studies related to the theme at hand.

This instantly reminds me of that scene of Madagascar 3.
Where the penguins buy the circus and all the clowns (and the prior owner) laugh and get into a tiny car.

speaking of animated stuff.
I passed by the toys area when I went to the pharmacy section of my local supermarket (clever marketing scheme...)
And I suddenly was face to face to the new "half shell heroes" tmnt toys.

Jeebus, they made them disturbingly cute.
They only had the leo giant figure, but still lol.
had to punch a wall to regain my male card ;)
