That's okay. I'm a little sensitive I guess to people (especially in my state of Wisconsin) thinking that teachers aren't really working and have an easy job. I know we aren't supposed to talk politics on here, but teachers in my state have been beaten up the last few years by the legislators and governor. No harm done by you though.

Wow. That's interesting on a number of levels. With regard to (some) people who think you aren't working, and have an easy job, they're basically saying that teachers don't deliver much of a quality education to their kids. Yet, if they truly believed that, why are they still sending their kids to these dysfunctional classrooms?

Hence, I suspect the bone of contention is the time off (school vacations, summer break) that teachers get, while others working in other professions, do not. Things aren't always as they appear, though.

I've also known a few teachers (one of my aunts was a high school teacher, and one of my uncles was a professor of English literature at a college). Often, the teachers were attending meetings at the schools while the kiddos were off, or doing some private tutoring of a few students in the summer, in addition to taking some vacation for themselves. Some are up late during the school year grading papers and developing lesson plans. Sure, there's some dead weight in the teaching profession, but there's some dead weight in every other business, too.

I gotta chime in on this. Yeah, it's pretty insane down there. Just a couple weeks ago, I was talking to two guests at my work who are trying to relocate out of Fla. They were telling me how in some counties, there is some sort of "no fault" or "equal fault" law as far as automobile accidents go. What I gathered in a nutshell: Pretty much if your car is parked somewhere, and some lunatic hits your parked car...you both are at equal fault according to how much is paid or not from your car insurance companies.

They told me that was only one of the many reasons they want out of the state.

I knew their bodily injury was really messed up but so is their workmen's comp right down to weird policies on 2nd opinions for work related injuries. The funkiest ones I've heard were in Georgia but I'm sure there are many states with the hard to wrap your brain around laws. I worked in maritime insurance for many years and the dollars spent to pinpoint fault often was a good chunk of the overall value of cargo. Then everything went to both insurance companies recovery departments to reclaim/payout the losses, more costs. I haven't seen the data but I wonder if it is possible if with all companies just being responsible for their own insured vehicles if the overall costs for claims is substantially less in the industry?

Dang, now you have me real curious.

Now that surprises the heck out of me. Class pictures are generally from an outside company for schools, sports, band-you name it. The organization picks the price point from the choices of the photographer of the mark up price to families. (that is why they are often so freak'n expensive) These funds generated are generally not part of a public budget, they are considered Activity Funds. Once a parent questioned the price structure and my board started to look into activity funds and we cringed at how 2 of our 3 schools spent funds or transfred them around to different fund balances, 2nd part not legal but unknown to many. Photo's just like Gatorade, soda and junk food machines as other $$$ that slip into that activity fund banner. These funds often slip off the radar unlike budgets that can easily be inspected by boards or general public. I'm am so surprised that a school or any organization would skip over photo revenue.

Oh, my school was just as mercenary as any other--they didn't skip over photo revenue at all. What I was meant to say was that they never did a "class group" picture. They did take individual head shots of all the kids, and sometimes my parents would buy a picture for home, and then a smaller one for the grandparents.

Hey, @Gabe1 , remember last summer when I told you about Jack's favorite hobby--hunting house flies? Well, we just had some intermittent rain storm in the area over the past few days, and it brought with it, a lot of flies. Open the door, in fly the flies inside.

Now, hubby can't stand flies. So, I just went downstairs and I saw the funniest sight. Hubby was running around like a lunatic with a fly swatter, and Jack was also engaged in the big fly hunt. Turns out they had both picked the same fly and a collision ensued!! While hubby went to swat a fly near a wall, Jack also jumped up to catch that exact fly in his mouth--and he and hubby crashed into each other, and fell to the floor! :hilarious: (Neither was hurt.) I truly think that if hubby just stayed out of it, Jack would have nabbed most of the flies in his airborne attacks!

Cat story:

This morning, I was in my bathroom, and the cat, as usual joined me. For some reason, she likes to jump in the empty bathtub when I'm getting ready. Why? Who knows. What neither of us knew was that there was still water that hadn't drained from the bathtub. There was only about an inch of water, but still. Cat slipped off the side of the tub, fell in on her side, then quickly got out and ran away. You could tell where she went based on the paw prints. Whole side of her was wet

Well cat, that's what you get for going near something known for containing water...:hilarious:
My cat gets in the tub, and meows like a lunatic until I do turn on the water. She'll even stay if I turn on the shower, provided it's not too forceful.
Stupid cat.

She also lays in the sink with the water running.

A thousand apologies for what appears to maybe, possibly be a bra in the background.
