@MOXOMUMD , now that your daughter is on summer vacation, does she have any fun activities during the week? When I was a kid, we had a town swimming pool (it was huge), and I was up there splashing around in the water at least 4 days out of 7. The town also had a summer day camp, and sometimes I'd go to that, because I liked the arts and crafts activities they had for the kids. The rest of the time I'd hang out with my little pals that lived on our street. Sometimes my mother would drive us to the (ocean) beaches, but I realize that you're not close to an ocean. I guess a pool or maybe a lake is what people in your area use for recreation in the summer months. :)
We have a lake a few miles from home, swimming, fishing, picnicing, catching frogs and lightning bugs. :joyfull: She's enrolled in all the reading programs at the library. She earns prizes for the books she reads. Her last one was a McD's smoothie. The next one is a personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut. She plays with her Legos a lot too. (She took a picture to show you. :) ) 20150613_102744.jpg

Awwwww . . . how nice that she took a picture to share with us!!! From what I can see in the photo, she's very creative with Legos, too!! :) So happy to hear that you both live within a short distance to many fun outdoor activities, too. I'm impressed by the prizes she wins for the books she's reading while on her summer vacation. I'd say that girl has a very bright future ahead of her!!

Actually, we have had an F 1 on occasion. I may have a picture somewhere. We do have Chinook winds, that can get as high as an F 1...builder's are aware, and build for those conditions. I can't say we don't feel the house swaying. The swaying keeps things together!

Yep, all structures hafta' be flexible and give, to a point, otherwise failure would be the norm.
If I end up sitting in traffic on the bridge I hafta' cross to get to and from the office, and the traffic in the other direction is moving swiftly, I love the way the bridge feels as it flexes up and down. It's comforting to know it was engineered properly. ;) :)

Your last sentence reminded me of when I worked in a 60-story business tower in the city (that job was up to 2001). Anyway, the towers are actually meant to sway (a smidge--you probably wouldn't even notice it) in the higher winds, as a safety feature. I'm not an architect, but it's interesting to note that up on (I think it was up on the 58th or 60th floor) they had they gigantic magnets that would move in the higher winds. Don't ask me how, but those magnets moving were a very important safety feature of that office tower, as I was told at the time. That's all I know about it.

I'm familiar with it. Here's a short article for anyone who might be interested in how it works... :)

Hahaaa...! Not yet!
Like we did, oldest DD and hubby are waiting to buy a house before they start a family. They're probably about a year or so away from the home purchase.
After that, it may not be long before we hear the pitter-patter of grandkiddos feet...!!! :joyfull: :D ;) :)

As much as I someday look forward to grandkids someday, I hold close to my heart not yet kids, you're not financially ready for this yet

Amen .
