O.k. Idiot disclaimer ahead: you've been warned--

I read in a magazine about how you can make frozen yogurt pops. It looked easy enough, so I went to BB & Beyond and bought some (popsicle-style) freezer molds. I then mixed the yogurt, vanilla, honey and 6 oz. of blueberries and 6 oz. of blackberries together. Divided that up into the 6 molds and put in freezer for 8 hours.

Mentioned my frozen treat masterpiece to hubby. He said, "Did you try out the new blender?" ( We had just bought a new Oster blender this past week.) I said, "Huh? What does the blender have to do with my frozen yogurt?" He said, "Oh, I just assumed you'd have blended up the fruit and mixed it into the yogurt."  . . . what??! I was supposed to what??!!) It NEVER dawned on marble head here, that "blend" meant to put the fruit into a blender!!! :jawdrop:

So, 8 hours later, I took out one of frozen treats and the frozen yogurt was tasty and all but the blueberries and blackberries were like these frozen little rocks inside! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:
I'm sorry I really tried not to laugh! ROFLOL I'm sorry.

That last part is a lot of it...
We already don't experience harsh winters down here, so a move to Florida would kinda' be just a lateral move for us. ;) And, as crazy as this place can be sometimes, we do love us some Austin, Texas...!
We'll be just fine with doin' any kind of Disney trips we can over the next several years. :)
Plus, at this point anyway, I'm just not as enamored as I used to be about working for TWDC again.
But, who knows, that could all change again in the next 10-15 years.
Life is a dynamic thing. :)
Life does change our plans, I never thought I would end up in Colorado, with the kids nearby. Yet, here we all are.

Morning. Yes, it is morning; it's about 10:30.

Went to bed at 9 pm last night. Woke up at 9 am. I no longer feel like a zombie, and I am on Hawaiian time.

Decided to go for a walk.

One of the pools.

And they have shops galore here. More than any Disney resort.

Including this:

And for the second time in my life, I walked in and actually bought something.

Chai Tea Latte. Yum.

Then, after eating the banana, I walked around a bit more.

Ducklings.

Turtles.

There's also poi in there, but I didn't get a good photo.

Now I'm finishing my tea on the balcony

Love the pictures. That's where we stayed when hubby went to Hawaii , for work. A very nice place. And they had shave ice there too! They also made the pina colava drinks too. Not a typo, the raspberry that flows through the drink, represents lava. Yummy! So happy you are there. I'm having another vacation ! Yea!

LOL! Unfortunately any job I have ever had required whole days on Fridays. I'm definately not a workaholic! Haha Just forced to work 8 hours on Friday's like every other week day. Been working in Medical Reords positions for a big hospital corporation now for 14 years. They don't believe in "half days" on Fridays! Boooooo! lol :arghh:. The upside is I never have to work weekends! M-F only unless I want to make up time on the weekend (that I never choose to do) lol.
Good for you, hubby worked 60 plus hours each week, on a salary, I figured once, with travel, and all he made about 2.00$ an hour . ;)

Short story... (or at least, I know you hope it will be) Back in 2001 after a series of life changes including divorce and business failure, I started looking for what I could do to make my life better. On a trip to WDW and other places in Florida, I decided that if I could put enough money away over the next 10 to 12 years, I might be able to pull of a dual location existence. Summers in Vermont and winters in Florida. To accomplish that I decided that bus driving would be transferable and fit in seasonally with employment at WDW. Got my license and then took a job driving for a municipal bus company and over the next 10 years went from driver to management, thus allowing me more income to achieve my goals.

Jump forward 10 years, both my daughters, and their families, had moved to North Carolina (separately, I might add) and there I was left to freeze to death, by myself in Vermont. I, with no brains necessary, retired and moved to NC as well. After that move, the need to spend more time in Florida greatly diminished. I was in a warmer climate and close enough to get my Disney fix easily. All of a sudden it became clear, to me at least, that working for Disney was a great deal different then visiting Disney. I took a part time job, for supplemental income, here in NC and my desire to work for the mouse completely disappeared. All that planning, however, was based on driving bus at WDW. I had the skill and also to propensity to BS my way through anything, so I felt it a wonderful opportunity. But as you said, life is dynamic and you never really know where it will lead us. If one has the courage to respond to where it leads it can sometimes be a really unexpected positive all the way around.

Now, all my immediate family, except my sister, are in North Carolina. It's like we all had the same desire and calling and we all followed it within two years of each other. The funny thing is that I always wanted to move south and they never did. Then, I ended up following them here instead of the other way around. Funny and strange how things work out.

Great story. Our kids followed us to Colorado. I would love a warmer climate, just can't bring myself to leave family. It's the most important thing in life, to me. I'm glad that life worked it out for you, as well as our family.

I've been getting 59s on Fridays before every holiday including Mothers Day and Fathers Day, 59s is the 'code' to let us leave early. Nice finally being in some place that appreciates you after working in food service hell for eight years.
Yup food service is one of the worst jobs, I ever had. The only good thing, after running around for your shift, you could have a "meal", and not gain weight. ;)

There are two shifts where my DD works that are 10 hour days. 4 days, 3 days off. She soooo wants that slot, not happening with her seniority anytime soon.
I think all businesses should do that, otherwise; family time can be very limited. Before my husband retired, it seemed " he sold his soul to the company store. " An old Tennessee Ernie Ford song! He burned out at 62 and stayed on until 64, everyone thought he would never retire. He did and has never looked back.

Yes, he left behind a wife and 4 very young children. He was on a roof with a chainsaw fighting a fire, roof gave way.
Sad yes.

The thing about firefighters and police officers too, they take care of their own when tragedy strikes. Firefighters are a unique group of folk, they are genuinely a family. My Dad had worked with his Dad. He started as a mechanic and then was finally accepted into the fire academy, his dream. Being Irish in Chicago that use to put you to the top of the list.
God bless the firefighter's and police. They are not nearly well enough compensated, for putting their lives on the line.

Hey gang! I'm checking in from Paris! Turns out our hotel has free wifi so I thought I'd say bonjour! We got here yesterday and hit the ground running, we went tithe louvre, ate awesome ice cream, macrons, and a regular meal, and did the top of the arc de triumphe. Today is the Eiffel Tower for sure! For some reason my phone is being dumb and not letting me upload pictures so I might have to do that from home. Sorry, but don't worry ihave food pictures! Hope you guys are doing well!
Love hearing from you. Sounds like you are having a great time, good for you. Eat a French pastry, and tell us if it's similar to the pastry's in La Halles. :joyfull:

We have two banks and neither have Dum Dums anymore. :(

One has stick lolly's

and the other has safety pops. I kinda like these though. Just wish green would be lime again.

th

Both also offer these in the drive through. Sometimes I go to the bank while walking Walter, we walk up to the drive through window with the drawer that pops out of the wall. He has been clunked in the nose more than once waiting for his treat to show up on the tray. :cyclops::D:joyfull:

Good old Walter!

I genuinely love them both. They each have their own unique offerings. I certainly like Universals transportation options better along with their hub park/downtown district proximity better to their resorts, they nailed that. No wasted hour moving from park to park or to City Walk/resort. I'm a fan of their newer attractions too. Great imagineering. They waste no time in adding new attractions to their parks, they get on with it. I have great appreciation for that. FLE was a long drawn out expansion with little bang for all that.

Still Disney has my heart. There is something about the charm of Epcot and the Magic Kingdom that Universal can't top. Maybe someday the Studio's will return its appeal and Animal Kingdom will reach her potential. While I love Universals offerings and love the value of the Portifino resort where we stay, if I could only go to one resort, it would likely be Disney. I've been going to Disney now for 50 years, it is embedded. My 20 something kids grew up Disney and it isn't likely to leave either of them. They have been in the parks since they were mere babies.
Same with us and Disney. I've never visited Universal. Kids and grandkids, love Disney. So, our decision is made for us the next few years!

Due to today's rain my boys are getting the day off from yard work. My garden could use some of the wet stuff and I'm celebrating all my veggie plants are starting to flower except for my leafy greens!:D After another late start things are finally starting to move along here! I'm going to get some early greens picked for dinner, kale and chard should make a good base for salad tonight. I've already got the beans going for baked beans (yum) and hot dogs are going on the grill (yes the "real" ones with meat LOL) and some veggie kabobs. Now to figure out one more side. Potato salad or sweet potato salad? Hmmmm? Here's to a great day for all!
I making a smothered pork chop, with mushroom gravy, cornbread dressing, and brown sugar, orange flavored carrots. A blueberry cake for desert. Hubby's favorite.
