A funny related story....I accidently used shower gel as my shampoo today and shampoo as my shower gel. I realized as I was rinsing. It still worked out ok.

:hilarious: Think we've all done something similar, which begs the question: if we've all done that, and all gotten clean, are all these products the exact same soap, but just packaged in different, spiffy-looking containers?! o_O

Well since we're all family I'll tell you. (Only my ex and mom know.) Right before I was pregnant I suffered optic neuritis and went blind in my right eye. The doc was unsure if my sight would come back but it did after three months. One of the main causes is MS, which runs in my family. So after a CT and MRI, they found I had two brain lesions. Not enough for a definite MS diagnosis though I still made trips to the MS clinic and learned a lot. One, take excellent care of my eyes and two, no rides where the G's or ride motion will rattle my brain. It took a long time for the lesions to heal and I'm not pressing my luck for them to come back. So there's a handful of rides I can't do at WDW but I'm okay with that.

We're o.k. with that, too. We want you to take care of yourself. :) There's plenty of other rides, attractions, parades and shows that are fun for you to enjoy. (Somewhat related: I will only ride R&R coaster once during a visit to WDW, and for Mission Space, I only go on the green side. The reason is that one year I rode both of them multiple times, and I came home with a bad case of vertigo--kept me out of work for a few days and I was prescribed some medicine to help me regain my balance, etc.) So, you're not the only one who watches what they ride at WDW. (I'm sure others also have certain rides that don't exactly agree with them.)

That's such a good idea. I've seen kids going to school, with all kinds of clothes. Some I would call questionable. No one seems to say much out here.

Apparently, they don't say much about it here either. Sometimes when I'm waiting for the morning bus, I see the kids walking up to the local high school. I'm far from a prude, but heck, I'm shocked at some of the clothes these kids wear to school??!! :jawdrop: I'm surprised some of them don't get sent back home to change into something else a little more appropriate.

We had a dress code (and it was a basic, neat and presentable code--nothing revealing, torn, or with any offensive words on it) in our schools when I was growing up. It was enforced. But a little more to my point here: none of us would have been let out of the house in the morning dressed like some of these kids. That's the part that gets to me: why aren't their parents stopping them at the door, and telling them that certain items of clothing may be o.k. for the beach, but not appropriate for school??

Diamond Horseshoe is open this week so we thought we would eat here since it is usually closed when we are here. Just finishing up lunch now. Both DW and I got the pork sandwich. It was pretty tasty.

Oh, by the way, today is my birthday. ;)

Happy belated birthday!!! Sorry, I was still at WDW when it was your birthday, so I didn't know. So, happy Sweet 16! :p (Oops, I guess you're a few years beyond that one now!!) :D

Our brand new $3,500 Miele coffee maker for the office was installed this afternoon.
Yes, $3,500. But, it didn't cost the company a thing, 'cause it was given to us by a distributor...!!! :joyfull: :)

Dang, you are so lucky!! :p That's one thing I really miss about working in the private sector: free toys and food. :hungry:

Working now in a hospital, the regulations are so strict; we cannot accept ANYTHING that is "given" to us from ANY vendors at all. :(

Kelly Ripa and Sis at Disneyland with her Mom and Grandma. She also said that was last photo of Grandma cause she passed away that year.

Note how they are dudetted up for Disneyland.

I wish I knew where the old pictures were of my parents who went to WDW, back in the early days. I recall they went with 2 other couples, and I remember they were all dressed up. (Nothing fancy, just "daytime" skirts, blouses, regular shoes, no sneakers, and the ladies all were carrying these full-sized pocketbooks). The men wore pressed slacks, no jeans or shorts, and pressed, collared shirts, and regular shoes, no sneakers. Looking at the people walking by them in the photos, it seemed like everyone dressed up for WDW back then! Guess is was the same out in Disneyland.

I am glad, however, that some of these standards have been relaxed, because it's so darn HOT down there. This past week, I couldn't even tolerate the sun and heat in the afternoons. I'd retreat indoors for 3-4 hours every day, so that I wouldn't pass out. Yes, I drank a lot of water, but I just couldn't handle the extreme heat.

Yes! I loved the snow picture!!! WOO HOO!!! You see, the one thing I absolutely hated about my trip to WDW over the past few days was the darn HEAT! It wasn't too bad in the morning or after 7 PM. However, starting about 1:00 p.m. every day, the sun and temperature were brutal. I had to escape indoors every afternoon (for a few hours, and then go out again) so that I wouldn't pass out. When I just saw @MOXOMUMD 's lovely snow picture, I said "Ahhh . . . ". Also the temp. here at home today is around 68. Very nice! :)

I just had to flip to the home page to see Disney temps. Yep, 90 for May. Hot.

I saw this for the first time, just the other day. It was the usual sort of very hot afternoon, and I decided to sit on a bench on the porch, in front of City Hall. All of a sudden I saw a band march out from under the Main Street USA train station, and some military people and police all gather around the flag pole. It was a lovely ceremony, and I was glad I got to see that. It's one of those really nice touches that WDW adds to the guest experience, and sets WDW apart from all other theme parks, IMO. :)

Every time I've hit my limit at WDW with heat it was at the World Showcase in the afternoon.

Thank you everyone for the kind anniversary wishes.
Just got in from dinner - pics to follow.

In case you haven't figured, Hubby and I are not the flowers/cards/love songs kind of couple.

We're the flowers just because/every day I love you/random mushy texts kind of people.

I wish you all the same deep, abiding love that we share.

And now we're off to Bro's to hook up his kegerator.
Living the life. :joyfull:

Happy Anniversary; I might be a little late with the wishes, but the happy thought is just the same. (Hubby and I celebrated 21 years at the end of April, by the way! :))

Sorry to hear about the film fiasco. I hope something turns out.

Yah, me too. Yesterday afternoon, I took the disposable camera to a photo store nearby. The man told me they develop film once a week there (he said they do maybe 20 rolls of film a week, and set up the machine one time and do them all at once). Anyway, I probably won't have any pix back until Weds., at the very earliest. I asked him to put them on a cd. Again, I really don't know if any of them will come out at all, but I'll let everyone know what happens . . . :in pain:

Finally, caught up here!!! :joyfull:

@seahawk7 , what a wonderful surprise you had for Jennifer, with those great photos!!! That was really special.

@Andrew C , so happy to hear that you're having a great time, and I get such a kick out of the fact that you try to stump us with your "where in the world" photos! :p

Since a number of people have been discussing the shows, parades, etc., I thought I'd mention here that I was able to see 2 sets of fireworks every night from my hotel room's, ceiling-to-floor picture windows! I was up on the 9th floor of the SWAN in the West Tower, and I'd look to my left and see the Epcot fireworks, and then a bit later, I'd look to the right to see the Hollywood Studios fireworks!! I had a GREAT view!!! :D

Agree. I found the bag check at WDW to be completely inconsistent. Some checkers would look for 3 seconds, some for maybe 8, and only one really checked every zippered compartment in my small bag (it has 7 sections). For the life of me, I couldn't figure it out.

However, I have read, though the years, that they have found some weapons which they confiscated. I don't think the intent of the guest(s) was intentionally dangerous or wrong (a person who normally carries a small firearm and is licensed and all), but I also can't imagine why a guest would just "assume" it's alright to bring in a weapon to a park, (unless they are law enforcement, only).

In conclusion, I'm somewhat conflicted about the whole bag check thing. I suppose maybe it's more of an insurance thing, where if they show they're at least trying to make things safer, they are more likely to be protected from law suits if something bad happened.

Since bag check started post 9/11 I'm not thinking it has much to do with insurance. IMO more likely to prevent incidents similar to the Boston Marathon or Colorado theater. :(

Illinois is I believe the last state to allow carrying and it is my understanding permitting is still at a turtle pace since this all came about in the last year so I've had very little experience with people carrying.

One gentleman I know through other forums is a police officer that does check his weapon with security but keeps his knife with him. I'm personally kinda torn I could argue either side cause random people carrying in parks I'm not accustomed to even in general. I however am also uncomfortable with weapon free areas that the bad guys know they will be the only ones carrying. I guess that is why the debate will likely go on forever.

They are Turkey. Freakishly large turkeys, but turkeys none the less. They actually taste and look like ham because they use the same smoking (curing) process that is used to give you your Easter ham. That gives them a much longer shelf life and are less inclined to be bothered by the heat of the Florida sun, bacteria wise! I don't, off the top of my head, remember how that is done, but, I think it is a combination of salt and smoke preservation.

Ha! :) My comment was rhetorical.

There have been so many threads over the years along with bus driver legends over these Turkey Legs. As I heard the comments coming out of Kelly & Michael's mouths followed by the quick, defensive explanation being spewed from the well seasoned CM attending to Celebrities on National TV it was a here we go again moment. :joyfull: Michael's comment of it tastes like chicken was cute though in response to Kelly's bacon analogy.
