One of the best things about that car was how many people you could cram in it. Friday night at the drive in was $4 a car load. We'd all meet up at the mall across the street cram into my car. No seatbelt laws back then.:devilish:
I'm trying to figure out how old you are. I'll be 48 this summer. Here in Ontario, seat belts became mandatory January 1, 1976; before I was even 9. I don't recall it being strictly enforced until a few years later, but certainly loooooong before I had a car that I could cram 9-10 people in.

Let's all go to the lobby
To get ourselves a treat.

Delicious things to eat;
The popcorn can't be beat.
The sparkling drinks are just dandy;
The chocolate bars and nut candy.
So let's all go to the lobby
To get ourselves a treat.

Even the FBI can't figure that out! My favorite line from the Nanny.

69 Impala SS What a car. But even back then it took so much to fill it up!
Compared to today, they were practically giving the stuff away. Even after the embargo, we thought the prices were unbelievable, but, compared to today cheap, cheap, cheap!

I remember when you could get 10 loaves of fresh bread for a dollar, 19 cents for gas, and that included the yellow or green stamps, sometimes a cooler was given away during the summer month's.
Just to be fair to all the younger folks... Minimum wage was also around 50 cents an hour. The highest I remember it was $1.35 an hour. I'd work all week, 40 hours and get a pay check for $54.00 before taxes. I once got a week-end job (one weekend only) that paid $4.00 an hour and I thought I had died and gone to heaven. That job was unloading freight cars containing cases of motor oil and 55 gallon drums of the same. Worked my butt off for 14 hours for $56.00. Felt like a millionaire though. A sore, aching millionaire, but, one none the less.

My younger ds AKA assistant planner is really thinking about 10 days in the parks would be better. He thinks the cost for the water parks isn't worth it because with his brother having issues with hopping, ie. busses can cause agitation or getting out to the car and losing time. Maybe doing one day op for a water park might just be the way to go if we decide to go there. He's also started planning out his shopping budget!:) Seeing he's realizing how much he will need I won't have to shovel any snow or clean their bathroom, walk the dog, etc. until we get back!:D Yea Disney vacation. Once planning begins my house always seems much cleaner, without me doing the extra work.
That is what I love about trip planning: the kids getting involved.

I'm beginning to think my dh is a bit more of a Disney geek than he lets on. He actually sat with me and looked at a few of the menus last night. I can't believe he's the one who said on the last day of our last trip "we might get back down in about 5 years" I knew my boys and I would be able to talk him into going sooner, but I never thought he'd want to do a long trip or help with the planning.
Have you checked out the allears.net website? They have a lot of menus and they let you know where to find vegetarian/vegan dishes. If you want, I will post the link.

This still plays at our local theater but it is an ad for turning off your phone. :facepalm:

That much I will agree with. I bought my first new car in 1971. A brand new Buick Skylark... $3100.00. Still had to finance it for 3 years so I guess everything is fairly relative. Two other great things happened in the 70's for me as well. Both my Daughters were born in the middle of that decade. Other then that if they were to rip it completely out of history, I wouldn't be upset.

The 60's were a confusing and dangerous time for those of us coming of age, but, no one will ever say they were dull. The 70's, on the other hand... yawn! The 50's were like living in a nursing home. The only cool thing I remember from that were the N.Y. Yankee's and two toned cars. (More accurately described as land yachts.)
My parents bought the home they have had since 1971 that they still live in for 23,000.
