One of the best things about that car was how many people you could cram in it. Friday night at the drive in was $4 a car load. We'd all meet up at the mall across the street cram into my car. No seatbelt laws back then.:devilish:
I moved my dinning room table with all 6 chairs in that thing, with the trunk completely closed! I just had to unbolt the legs fom the table top and take out the leafs...

That much I will agree with. I bought my first new car in 1971. A brand new Buick Skylark... $3100.00. Still had to finance it for 3 years so I guess everything is fairly relative. Two other great things happened in the 70's for me as well. Both my Daughters were born in the middle of that decade. Other then that if they were to rip it completely out of history, I wouldn't be upset.

The 60's were a confusing and dangerous time for those of us coming of age, but, no one will ever say they were dull. The 70's, on the other hand... yawn! The 50's were like living in a nursing home. The only cool thing I remember from that were the N.Y. Yankee's and two toned cars. (More accurately described as land yachts.)
My first car was a VW Rabbit. :joyfull: Such a tiny thing.

Yes those cars were monsters. Loved em. Going back to seat belts, my dad had a panel van, we would line up lawn chairs, all take our seats, to go a lake with a beach in the summer. Dad and Mom owned a lake lot. We already had our seating, when we got there.:D

I remember on trip to Disney way back in one of those. We had a motorcycle in the back and only 2 seats with more people than that! These days I think we'd be in jail for that one!

I would love the prices in those days to come back too. I shopped at a shoe store in Indianapolis, and paid 3.00$ for a very nice pair of shoes.
I'm about 20 years younger than you, and I remember running shoes being 50 cents at "Dirty Dan's".
They were pretty much "disposable", but my three brothers used to blow through a pair every month; whether they were the cheap or the expensive kind.
