Question: Is it normal for horses to lay on their sides? We drove past a pasture and saw two laying on their sides. My mom said she didn't think it was normal, but I know next to nothing about horses (other than that one tried to eat my hair...) so I'm curious.
Ours all do, but only when it is fairly warm and they feel safe enough to do it. If they don't feel safe enough, one or two will stand watch while the others sleep. They will lay down and sleep in their stalls too.

TMI Alert as well:

Mine are super sensitive. Place too much pressure on them, whack them...not good.

Again, TMI alert... I once had a bug bite there. It got infected and started leaking pus. I have never fainted in my life, but felt like I was going to pass out. And afterward, I promptly went to the toilet and vomited. I am normally not that sensitive about my own injuries.

The thought of nursing makes me feel sick.
You don't have to breast feed. I couldn't (gestational diabetes) and she's fine.

I know, but using formula quite often increases the asthma risk, and if I have children, they're already at an increased risk of asthma, especially if I have girls. It runs in the women in my family. Other than my grandfather and one of my mom's cousins, everyone who has it is female, and I'm the fourth generation of females to get it. Great-Grandmother, maternal grandmother grandmother (her daughter), my mother (also her sister), and then me.

Hopefully this is a ways off before I have to think about children, but I kind of like the cat idea...

The majority of churches down here are Baptist. It's really frustrating for me because I have to drive a good distance to get to the the closest PCA (Presbyterian) church. It has been my experience that most people are only members of a certain denomination because that's the denomination there parents were. When I lived in the New Orleans area most people were Roman Catholic because that's how they were raised. Where I live now most people are Baptist because that's how they were raised. I wish more people would actually study their Bibles and do research to choose their denomination. That's what I did and it's why I'm the only Presbyterian in my family (technically I'm Anglican but good luck finding a church that actually adheres to the Thirty-Nine Articles). It would have been easier to just go along with my parent's beliefs but I don't want to believe something just because it's what I was told to believe.

Anyway, what I meant to bring up before I went off on that tangent is that there are a lot of Lutheran churches down here. Most decent sized cities have at least one Lutheran church nearby. Most of the Lutheran churches around here are Missouri Synod but there are some ELCA churches.

I went to a Missouri Synod Lutheran school for four years. It was a really nice school. I have some fond memories of the time I spent at Concordia Lutheran School in Marrero Louisiana. I used to love when we had chapel every Thursday.

I agree with you that many people just continue on in the denomination that they were raised in. When I was in confirmation as a teenager we were actually required to go to different types of churches and attend some services so we could see the differences and we talked about other religions too. I think that was really useful in helping us see what other beliefs were and see what our ELCA church was really all about. I think people need to understand and think about what they believe and not blindly just follow along (this goes for politics too). It is amazing how similar all the Christian denominations are but some of the differences are so subtle but can make a huge difference. Heck, there are at least 4 different divisions/synods in the Lutheran Church!

Side story about the different Lutheran synod's and their differences....a guy I knew belonged to a certain Lutheran synod and married a friend of mine who belongs to the ELCA synod (like me). So when my friend's husband informed his church that he was changing his membership to the ELCA his pastor called him up and told him that if he did he would be doomed to "he double hockey sticks" because the ELCA doesn't believe in Jesus! My friend's husband was like WHAT the....?!?! and never contacted his old pastor again. This story isn't unique either, my husband has dealt with a few people in our community leaving one of the Lutheran (in a different town even than my friend's husband's original church) churches to join our ELCA church and these people have had similar threats when they left.

Oh geez, now with all this church talk I feel a little guilty now that I skipped going to church today....:angelic:

I forgot to mention politics but you're exactly right that it's the same with politics.

Why isn't there a channel for watching all the great old sitcoms? What the heck happened to TV Land? It used to be such a great channel. Remember when they even used to play old commercials?

When I was a kid we didn't get cable but it was such a thrill when we took our annual road trip vacation and stayed in a motel that had cable. My mom would put on TV Land at night and we would watch old shows like the Patty Duke Show and Donna Reed. We did have an independent station that we could get with our antenna that played a lot of old shows like Gilligan's Island, Bewitched, Brady Bunch, and I Dream of Jeannie. A lot of the time I would still rather watch these shows today instead of some of the new shows. They are classic for a reason.

My Grandmother used to watch me when I got out of school and she watched TV Land a lot. That's how I got hooked on all those old shows. There aren't many new shows I actually watch.

People often forget about the first season of The Facts of Life but it's actually my favorite season. I adore seasons 2-4 at Eastland and the show wouldn't have been the same without Jo. However, there's just something special to me about the first season.

My DS when in the Disney College Program,( poverty wages but lots of fun) would wash his shirts in the housing swimming pool and hang them on the balcony to dry. Chlorine cleans clothing up nicely and if it wears the material out they just had costuming replace it.
but chlorine can accumulate in "salt" form if they are not rinsed carefully.
awful if the person starts to sweat and the "salt" dissolves again.
It will irritate the skin BADLY.
