I went to a Ravens vs. 49ers game on Thanksgiving several years ago. It was great. I went with my dad, and a girl that I was friends with at the time was there with her dad, and so we sat together and our dads sat together. Her dad also knew somebody, so long story short, we got to go on the field before the game. It was a loud game.Woot! Bears vs Greenbay 1st game. Second Bears vs Greenbay on Thanksgiving night.
Yes I think you could say I overreacted. I think I was so touchy because I was under a lot of stress with my second job, in danger of losing it due to not having one of my certifications up do date due to fault on the instructors part, and I misdirected my frustration. I was very embarrassed after a couple of days of reflection and I apologize if I was rude or inappropriate.I'm also glad that @MOXOMUMD could respond to your DDP inquiry. Let me say that the reason I didn't, was because I've never used the DDP. As MOXOMUMD mentioned, it's probably different for each situation (whether you enjoy full meals and plenty of food, whether you have kids, and other reasons). I travel to WDW alone, and I don't eat much, and don't always stay at a Disney hotel (which is the only way you can get the DDP).
I hope you can understand that no one here (especially me) was ignoring your question. My best guess is that not everyone has experienced using the DDP, and if they didn't have anything helpful to share, they probably thought it was best to not reply. You're very well liked here in the Chat section. Looking forward to your return here after a brief hiatus.
Thank you.Sorry about the crickets. I didn't respond because I have never had the Disney Dining Plan. We always go out of pocket....
Thank you.Yeah, sorry. I was out of sorts yesterday after my little fender bump, and then running around all day today getting another estimate, back to Nissan, more time on the phone ....
Still haven't made a single ressie of my own, despite my intentions to get them all done yesterday. I had zero interest in even logging on to my Disney app., and was up until 4:00 a.m. fretting about this stupid car, feeling bad for the guy who hit me, and worrying that he can't really afford to pay.
I haven't analyzed your choices yet, but I did give the post a like, as they were most/all restaurants that I have experienced and enjoyed.
I can assure you NOBODY here meant anything personal. Sometime "crickets" happen, just based on how busy people are, what time you posted; really any number of factors. Don't stay away long - you are one of the sweetest, kindest posters here; a lovely counterbalance to the ascerbic wit of myself and @Goofyernmost. It's the mix of all the different personalities here which makes this forum what it is. You are a valuable contributor, and I am sorry that your feelings were hurt.
Thank you.Sorry that I didn't reply either. I haven't used the DDP much because it just didn't pay for us. I looked at menus in advance and price it out. Sorry if you felt slighted, I like having you around on here. I hope you come back soon!![]()
I decided to not get the dining plan because of the desserts. My son and I would rather share meals than get our own dessert at Sleepy Hallow or in World Showcase. If it's just you and your son I would say get the dining plan and help your daughter pay OOP then. Whatever extra snack credits you have could go towards her meals, such as breakfast items when you will have a meal already. There are a lot of options for those. (Other than ice cream and pretzels which I could most definitely eat everyday.)
See I'm thinking we need to eat at more counter services this time. I don't know if those buffets will do me any favors. What an amazing coincidence... I travel to WDW alone and almost never stay at a Disney hotel, however, that would be where the similarity ends because I stay on that famous seafood diet. When I see food, I eat it. However, being as cheap as I am, I almost never eat at Disney other then counter service.
Thank you.I didn't respond because, as you stated about yourself, I simply don't have much experience with/know enough about it.
Granted, we've done it twice (in the summers of '12 and '13), but I had nothing to do with it other than the 50% CM discount. DWifey did all the planning for those trips, using my CM ID number, and I only got on the phone if it was absolutely necessary. I don't even know what the plan was called, but, we each got a snack, a QS/CS, and a table service per day.
I, generally, tend not to comment on things where I feel my input wouldn't contribute anything of worth.
Ask a question about Disney history, cars, or architecture, and I'm more likely to comment if I feel it's of worth.
I did like your post 'cause I was so happy for y'all.
Sorry I didn't comment on it, and sorry you felt hurt.
That is sweet of you, thank you. You guys are all so busy as well and I'm sorry for my overreaction.Yup, sorry @seahawk7 . Tuesdays are my busy day, and I've had a really busy week, so basically all I've had time to do is skim posts. No time to catch up other than following up on quoted posts. Otherwise, I would have responded. I can go back and look.
Thanks. Biergarten is one of my son's favorites so it's a must do. I want to try Prime Time but the kiddies dont. That Fantasmic idea I might try though. Thanks! The only one that I would be wary of is Biergarten. If you've been there before and liked it, go for it. But we hated it the one time we were there. There are better Epcot options (Chefs de France would be my choice). I'm also not sure the Fantasmic dinner package is worth it. They tend to have FPs for Fantasmic left over, so you'd be better off using your three and then grabbing a Fantasmic FP. Mama Melrose's also tends to be hit or miss. Can you get into Prime Time? That one tends to be better IMO. Probably best DHS table service.
Yes Kona has been mentioned here before. I booked a 1900 Park Fare so I could try the strawberry soup but maybe I will trade it out for Kona?In general, I don't think it's worth it. It doesn't offer a lot of flexibility. It no longer comes with appetizers, the tip is not covered, so you might save money...or you might not. Disney doesn't even market it as a money saver anymore (unless you get free dining, which is different). It's more of a convenience factor. I would recommend that instead of getting the dining plan, you make a budget as to what you would have paid using the dining plan and stick to it. That way, you can order appetizers and skip dessert, or order two appetizers as your entree. Just a lot more flexibility IMO.
Also, I forgot to mention this, but Kona is a fantastic breakfast place that is not expensive and I seriously recommend you try it if you have not already.
Thanks.I don't know enough about DDP to be of any help. That's why I've never responded to anybody's questions about DDP. I definitely would have responded if I thought I could be of any help. We all like you here. Hope you come back soon.
That is very cat-like of you.I sing it because annoying people is sometimes fun.![]()
That was exactly what caused me to decide against it. The dessert and drink part. Thanks. The Dining Plan dollar to dollar is a hard call. It depends on your eating and drinking pattern. If you would always order dessert and order a non-adult beverage you come out ahead. We don't generally order desserts and often drink water so it is a loose for us. Plus if you order the soda and dessert solely because it is part of the allotment you are tipping quite a bit more when you add up the dessert and soda into the total, multiply that by how many times you tip over the vacation it add up.
I have gotten the DDP 1 TS one QS for years but I get the 50% off the dining plan so that is an automatic win for me.
Thank you.I wanted to answer, but I do not have as much experience. I only have been twice at WDW, and only once with the Disney dinning plan.. and in that time.. I ended with 17 points full deluxe table service points left.
exactly!!!
I still go to the same dentist I saw since I was three so I'm right there with ya.Am I the only weird person who insists on having the same hygienist on every dentist trip?
The only time I didn't have the one I liked was when she was on maternity leave. This other hygienist pressed so hard with the floss that she made my gums bleed. I floss regularly and don't have that happen. Then she said that I had gingivitis. Dentist did not agree. My teeth hurt so badly afterward that I decided that I'm only booking with the same one I've always had until I move to Florida. For procedures I don't care since I'll be sore either way, but for cleanings, I will only book the appointment with the same hygienist who has been cleaning my teeth since I was 6. Yup.
That is so sad. I'm sorry. One of my first Pups was a Shepard, my first born. I gave my then fiance an Atari game system, state of the art at the time. Shepard Laying under coffee table and he was playing a game (of course not paying attention to the puppy) and she chewed through the cord and when she electrocuted herself her head banged on the coffee table from beneath. GAME OVER.
Thank you.Uh Oh! I've been running a couple days behind here and have been attempting to catch up. This is bad and I'm sorry you have hurt feelings. Sad.
While catching up I did answer your question though it was not a yes buy it or no don't buy it answer. Many have never done dining plan, Donald and I have done it only with CM discounts so it is a tough question to say give a direct opinion on. Most people research it on a family dynamic basis on how they consume food included. Aside from free or heavily discounted CM plans it is genuinely a question that each person needs to research themselves and decide if it is advantageous for their individual families. Like I said before it isn't for us at rack rate but is with a 50% discount.
Here is a good tool for you to decide for you and your family if it is a good investment or not.
