Mine was awful as well. Unfortunately, it looked exactly like I do. Try as I might I cannot blame the camera or the passport.

I don't remember if I ever told this story or not. If I did, may I apologize in advance. If it didn't... here goes.

Last October I was in a parking lot getting ready to get in my bus to drive. When a lady, that was driving one of our company vans backed into the front of my parked car. The van she was driving had external mirrors on both sides and a center mirror that pointed out the rear window. On top of that it also had a perfectly operating back up camera. In spite of that she managed to do $2500.00 damage to my Cadillac. I only used the brand name because it really doesn't take much damage to run up a hefty bill on that car.

Anyway, the situation was that the van belonged to the company I worked for, the lady driving was a fellow employee and I was there to start my shift. We called the police, of course, and had a report filed. I then contacted my employer to clarify what they needed from me to get this taken care of. I was told that I needed to get two estimates and that they would pay the lowest one. First problem with that is in the state of N. Carolina, it is the damaged parties decision where the repair takes place, not the guilty party. And it doesn't matter if the first one is $200.00 and the second is $2000.00, it is my choice.

I have been taking care of my car like a family member. It's a 2005, with comparably low mileage and it is my retirement car. I'm hoping to make it my last purchase. I have sunk a lot of money in it to keep it in like new condition. I wasn't about to just let anyone do the repairs on my baby. They kept insisting that they were going to pay the lower one and I was to sign a release to release them of any further responsibility. In other words, paid in full. Finally I just got fed up with arguing and told them that I was going to get it fixed and send them the bill and they were either going to pay it then or after we went to court plus legal expenses. The discussion ended and I got paid in full. The wording on the law is so explicitly clear that it is mind boggling that they continued to argue about it even after I pointed it out, section and verse!
they probably expected you to back down.
there are many people with no spine who refuse to follow further due of laziness, fear or just ignorance to the law.

I love my kitty. Then I look under my bed and find the stash of stolen pens and pencils. But she makes up for it because she's cute. And she's the happiest person to see me when I get home, so...

:hilarious:

My dog never misses an opportunity to steal socks, mittens and gloves, and mail. Of all those items, I'll never understand his fascination with paper. He'll run off with an envelope and shred it; we'll find bits and pieces of mauled paper all over the place. Oh, that's the other thing; he doesn't complete his ill-begotten deeds in one spot. He likes to spread out his crimes.

I'm so tired of trying to sell my house. The whole thing has been a giant hassle. I've been trying to sell my house for a year now. Last month a pipe came apart in the attic and flooded the master bathroom and basement. The master bathroom was destroyed. Had to put in new ceiling, flooring, and vanity. It's a shame cause the bathroom had a beautiful antique vanity. Dealing with the insurance has been a nightmare but luckily they are finally paying for the damages. I'm just ready to get this house sold and be done with the thing. Ugh!

I've heard that selling a house can be rough. Recently, I recall Goofyernmost had a post about how buying a house was easy, but selling a house was brutal.

I do hope a qualified buyer comes along for you soon. Sorry you're going through this.

Good lord!! Where do you people live--in a swamp??!! (just kidding . . . ;) ) I'd be scared with snakes around!! :jawdrop:

I live out in the sticks. I hate where I'm living right now. It's not that I don't like living in a small town. I actually like living in small towns as long as they're not too far from a bigger city, but the town I live in is in the middle of nowhere. It's an hour drive to any decent size city.

Thanks, selling this house has been one problem after another. Even had a snake in the house. I don't do snakes. I had to have my Grandfather come over and shoot it. We think it got in through the dryer vent.
I had a snake that was at the bottom of my driveway that just would not go away (and I didn't want it run over) so I picked up a stick and tossed in into the ditch on the other side of the road. :joyfull:

But should I get the dining plan? Currently, everything is paid as we go.
It's hard to say because the situation is different for everyone. We always get the DDP because it works for us and I know it's paid for. You had mentioned your daughter will only be with you for part of your trip? Everyone would be included on the DDP so you would have extra meals she would not use.

Only had one snake in my house ever. That one had the perfect timing to show up the night before my daughters wedding when she had all her brides maids at the house for a sleep over (yea, right) and gab fest. It came in through a basement window that wasn't closed tightly. Fortunately, it stayed in the basement, but, when I went down there to get something out of the freezer, I spotted it. I know that I would have a Sharknado type of situation on my hands if any of the girls saw it.

I didn't have a gun so I grabbed the only faux weapon I had available. It was a square head fireplace shovel used to remove ashes. I came up behind it and proceeded to dice it into a number of small pieces that, comically, each piece, went slithering off in different direction. I then casually (because I'm nothing if not cool) scooped it up and put it in a paper bag and walked it past all the young ladies on the way out to the trash. I told my daughter about it 10 years later.

Yes! What is it with animals and paper? My cat shreds paper too! I can't leave them on my desk anymore because she'll just shred them. I also have paper recycling under there, and we use paper bags from the grocery store to contain the paper. I used to just have the grocery store bag sitting under my desk...until I discovered she was stealing papers out of there and shredding them, leaving bits of paper around my room. I had to get a tall trashcan to put it in so she can't get into it. Nuisance.

Never had a snake in the house. Good thing; my mother and brother are both petrified of snakes. Which means if Dad's not home, guess who would have to take care of it?:grumpy: No. Hopefully we never get one in the house.

We once had a bat inside the umbrella on the deck. I opened the umbrella, and it was asleep. It was little too, so I think it was young. We just left the umbrella open until it flew away. Did not see it again.

Update on the freeloader in my group.

Yesterday, I emailed her and said we really needed her at the meeting after class tomorrow. She said no. So today I emailed her back and said that we've gone out of our way to accomodate her schedule, but the fact is that we've gotten higher grades when we've met outside of class to discuss assignments. For this class, we just can't split up the work and have everyone take a part home. Doesn't work. I told her that she's not contributing enough because she can never come ro meetings. I said that I got the impression from her that she doesn't come because she doesn't want to which is not an acceptible excuse, but regardless of her reasons, her not being in attendance is unfair to everyone who can be there. So I gave her two options: either figure out a time that works, or ask the professor to assign her to an individual project.

I left out the part that I think she doesn't have anyone's interests but her own at heart and how she's just been a gigantic pain in the butt this semester. And that when we've split the work, hers has been wrong a lot of the time.
