I don't understand people like her. What do they get out of being a problem for others?
No idea. I emailed her and told her that unless she absolutely cannot get a ride, she needs to be at the meeting on Thursday. I said that she can leave early if she needs to. But just ridiculous. And then, if she still says no, I think we will have to discuss kicking her out of the group.

This is why I like my cat better than people most days...

So, some guy "bumps" me at a red light today, and his front licence plate bolts pierced my bumper. (In case you didn't know, Ontario cars must sport front and rear plates.)
Same deal here in MD.
Very minor, but as you know my car is quite new.
Nissan's estimate is $926.74. Dude doesn't like it. Wants me to get a second estimate.

Dude. You hit me. The car is less than 21 months old. Plus, it's a lease.

I am only going to get fixed at a Nissan approved body shop, so that it is not held against me when I trade it in.

Not sure how much effort I want to put into this.
Irk me some more and I'm just going to make it an insurance claim.

Moron.

I don't blame you, though; we get all the service on our cars done at the the dealer. Won't even get an oil change elsewhere. The lawyer in my family agrees with you on that. If he refuses to pay, go through the insurance. He deserves it if he wants to be a hard head.

is that.. chuck norris? lol

I think thats the point.
The voice is very recognizable.

"you feel like home"

You know, I think it's also a subliminal thing going on, in addition to the nostalgia aspect for me. He's telling people to be careful of the doors, in a very nice way. So you don't feel like he's trying to boss anyone around; rather, his direct, yet soothing, delivery makes me feel like he wants to take care of everyone. Sometimes, I like having someone take care of me. :inlove: And yes, it is like being at home! :)

Nothing booked yet, but here is how I am thinking of distributing the 30 TS credits.
The "kids" don't want to eat every meal with us. (Ditto!) they want to have a few romantic dinners on their own.

Here we go:
Group dinner @ The Wave. 3 TS, 2 OOP
Group dinner @ San Angel Inn. 3 TS, 2 OOP
Group dinner @ 'Ohana (assuming I can get a ressie). 3 TS, 2 OOP
Group dinner @ 50's PT. 3 TS, 1 OOP (Tammy and I always split this meal)
Group dinner @ Hoop Dee Doo. 5 OOP
Group brekkie @ Kona. 5 OOP

"Kids" only dinner @ Coral Reef. 2 TS
"Kids" only dinner @ Sci Fi. 2 TS
"Kids" only meal (whatever I can get) @ Crystal Palace. 2 TS
"Kids" only brekkie @ Cindy's. 2 OOP

"Adults" only dinner @ Narcoossee's. 6 TS
"Adults" only dinner @ The Yachtsman. 6 TS

Raglan Road is on the back burner if we can't get 'Ohana, and may get added OOP, in any event.

What say ye?

Oh my!! You are a "planner" !!

He's an older retired court constable. Recognized my brother immediately. :hilarious: Very, very nice gentleman. Apparently one of the few court constables back in the day who treated my brother like a human being.

That being said, it's not like I'm going to pocket the money and not get the car fixed - which it is perfectly legal to do. And yeah, I know it looks very minor, but if you LOOK at a new car bumper wrong, it's a thousand bucks.

I will check with Nissan tomorrow, and if they approve of the body shop that this guy wants me to go to, then I will go 1/2 hour out of my way (waaaaay out by the airport, ugh!) and get a second estimate. If Karen says nuh-uh, then I shan't bother. It's really that simple.

Oh here's the irony .... I had just picked up my car from Nissan at 3:15, picked up my brother, and Dude hit me at 3:26.

And now I need a NAP! I've earned it. Two hours with my brother pretty much necessitates one.

BOG breakfast, Liberty Tree Tavern dinner, Mama Melrose Fantasmic package, Boma dinner, Via Napoli, Rose and Crown dinner, Via Napoli (again), Trails End breakfast, Trails End dinner ( it's our Fort Wilderness day to rent a golf cart and ride around), Biergarten lunch, BOG dinner, Ohana dinner, Hoop Dee Doo, 1900 Park Fare breakfast, BOG lunch, Tutti Italia lunch, San Angel dinner
Sounds good to me.

Body work is insane. With our 2007 Chevy Aveo, (about 4 weeks ago) a fool in an SUV backs out of a parking space (not looking . . .) right into the passenger side of our car. Guy got out, admitted it was his fault, etc., exchanged insurance information. We took the car to a body shop repair place and the estimate was $1,500. (Hubby said that years ago, they'd just use a tool to pop out the dents. But now I guess the cars are made of different materials, and they have to replace the entire door, and then have to match the paint color to the car.) What a freaking waste of money, time and effort all around.

Ready for the next group work rant? Here it comes. Read at your own risk.

This one girl in my group has been a problematic group member. We have a free class on Thursday to work on our projects. So I suggested that we go to the library and work. "No, I can only work where the professor is," she says. Um, okay??? So I flat out ask her if her parents have a problem with her meeting where the professor is not. "No, it's just me," she says laughing. "I prefer for people to just email me my parts and to never have to meet outside of class."

What the...

"So you'll never meet outside of class...because you don't want to?" I asked.

"Yup," she says, laughing. I don't know what was so funny, because I sure as h*** was not laughing

Think we're going to have to have a discussion after she leaves Thursday (the rest of us are hanging around to finish the assignment) about her because I am at my wits end and one of these days, I'm going to lose my temper with her.

She sounds like a person that rhymes with ditch. I wouldn't want to have her in my group, too bad you can't kick her out of the group. Sympathies to you...

Yup just like your pic, but with the diced red peppers and DOUBLE onion, and two sides of sour cream.
Maybe some guac. (Is guac even a thing with nachos?)

That corn salsa was awsome! Maybe two of those too.

Now we're talkin', that's much better...! :hungry:
Thumbs up on the guac too, but, I usually prefer it on the side 'cause things can sometimes get a bit soggy. :)

Actually, we can kick her out, but it has to be unanimous (minus her) and we have to have warned her first. If she doesn't show for this group meeting, we're going to have a serious conversation about her presense in our group.

Doesn't take much to cause a lot of damage. I had this happen back in the fall. A professor hit me when my car was parked (and I was standing right there) and then went into the building as if nothing happened. I called security out. They didn't believe me until they came out and saw the paint from her car on mine (and vice versa). Then they checked the security footage. Yup. They contacted the professor and gave her our contact info. We got a quote and had a check within a week. It was over $500 worth of damage, and you could barely even see it. Does not take much.

Yeah, my picture was :depressed:.
Mine was awful as well. Unfortunately, it looked exactly like I do. Try as I might I cannot blame the camera or the passport.

I don't remember if I ever told this story or not. If I did, may I apologize in advance. If it didn't... here goes.

Last October I was in a parking lot getting ready to get in my bus to drive. When a lady, that was driving one of our company vans backed into the front of my parked car. The van she was driving had external mirrors on both sides and a center mirror that pointed out the rear window. On top of that it also had a perfectly operating back up camera. In spite of that she managed to do $2500.00 damage to my Cadillac. I only used the brand name because it really doesn't take much damage to run up a hefty bill on that car.

Anyway, the situation was that the van belonged to the company I worked for, the lady driving was a fellow employee and I was there to start my shift. We called the police, of course, and had a report filed. I then contacted my employer to clarify what they needed from me to get this taken care of. I was told that I needed to get two estimates and that they would pay the lowest one. First problem with that is in the state of N. Carolina, it is the damaged parties decision where the repair takes place, not the guilty party. And it doesn't matter if the first one is $200.00 and the second is $2000.00, it is my choice.

I have been taking care of my car like a family member. It's a 2005, with comparably low mileage and it is my retirement car. I'm hoping to make it my last purchase. I have sunk a lot of money in it to keep it in like new condition. I wasn't about to just let anyone do the repairs on my baby. They kept insisting that they were going to pay the lower one and I was to sign a release to release them of any further responsibility. In other words, paid in full. Finally I just got fed up with arguing and told them that I was going to get it fixed and send them the bill and they were either going to pay it then or after we went to court plus legal expenses. The discussion ended and I got paid in full. The wording on the law is so explicitly clear that it is mind boggling that they continued to argue about it even after I pointed it out, section and verse!
