Ugh. I just read the thread. Makes my angry. Not everything has to be turned into a fight. It's funny when people talk about being too grown up for April fools....on a WDW forum. I believe Walt said it best...adults are only kids grown up, anyway.

I don't know that I've seen April Fools been taken this way before. Most had been like me, I took the Cindy castle turning Frozen in good spirit fun and a bit ashamed of me that it took to the count of 5 for it to bring some laughter to my day! I try to put aside the members that are waiting to pounce.

You have to work tomorrow? Is it not a stat?

But for a handful of restaurants and corner stores, this town will be shut down like Christmas Day tomorrow. And then again on Sunday.
All malls, banks, grocery stores, banks ... closed.
No mail delivery or garbage pick up.

Can I tell you the amount of texts I received for shopping discounts at all the stores tomorrow? Me I heading to Wisconsin. Hooyah!

Things are different down here. We don't shut down for anything besides basically Christmas. Even Thanksgiving isn't 100% shut down anymore.

We pretty much shut down for Easter Sunday here. The merchants are not going to loose 2 days in a week. Kid off Good Friday as our schools. Off Easter Monday too as Good Friday this year is during spring break.

I live in the supposed "Bible Belt" and everything will be open here. It's shameful. Stores don't seem to close for anything anymore.

BTW, I like your avatar.

I'm alive :D Thank god for the job because I was going insane.

Just focusing on having a first real job and learning so many things. It crazy how many things you need to learn. A lot of alphabet abbreviations too. Bridge is building a jersey barrier which makes a four lane bridge even narrower. Joy! I need a schedule because I can't come on in the mornings, I already wake up early enough.

Today, everybody who works for my company thought we had Good Friday off because of an email they sent saying we had it off. Three minutes later, the were like no. But we do get paid for tomorrow working and holiday pay for tomorrow too. I can't explain that one.

But I've kept my cool on my love for England. I only told them all my favorite shows and music were all British.
I'm glad to hear from you! I've taped Broadchurch but haven't watched it yet. I think I will do it Netflix marathon style one of these days.

I know you didn't ask for any input from me, but, if it's OK (apologies in advance, if not... :cautious: ;)) I'd like to throw one more from my pop out there, that is pretty much the bottom line to all his other words of advice/quips, when it comes to driving...
"If you drive with the thought that everyone else on the road is a complete and total moron, your chances of survival are greatly increased."
Thank you! I appreciate all the information I can get to help my kids be better drivers.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

I'm not judging, I'm just surprised.
I'm sure merchants up here would like to be open too. It's just not an option.

You didn't live here at the time (obvi), but we didn't have wide open Sunday shopping until the summer of 1992.
I was dumbfounded the first time I was in the U.S. on a Sunday and saw all the stores and malls open.
(Don't even get me started on my shock at seeing beer and liquor in grocery stores. :jawdrop:)

As novel as Sunday shopping was in the beginning, I honestly regret the repeal of the Lord's Day Act.

And whether you observe Saturday or Sunday or no day as the Lord's Day, it was nice to have that one day a week when there wasn't much to do.
Grandmas were visited. Homework was completed. Families spent time together.
There was just a different, almost Mayberry-like vibe to the day; except in colour, with way less-cool cars.

DWifey has a pair of pink chucks! :)
I have pairs of black, red, and green.
When I used to work retail at the calendar and game store, during the Holidays I would wear one red and one green to celebrate Christmas...! :)

Your last comment above was funny, and you have a kindred spirit up in my area, too. Every Sunday at church, I see a man with white hair and a long white beard, who always wears Christmas-themed clothes! Even in the middle of the summer, he has one red Chuck and one green Chuck, and a Christmas shirt!! (I've often thought that he must have a Christmas-seasonal job portraying Santa Claus, and maybe just took the "role" a bit too much to heart--and believes he's really Santa all year long??!!) ;)
