No, my point was it's not your car. It's your dad's, and he is generous enough to let you drive it. And presumably pay for it, fix it, maintain it, gas it, insure it ....

This was my situation as well. It was an old blue 1987 station wagon. My Dad allowed me to drive it until I bought my own first car. It was his toy, and thus, his rules for me to abide by. Did I look silly driving back & forth from school in that 'ole clunker? You bet! But it got me where I needed to be, and I was darn grateful for it. If he wanted it back in the driveway by midnight, then I had better not come rolling in at 12:45. If I wasn't happy with that, then I could either buy my own car, or a good pair of walking shoes...because with the privilege of using his car comes the responsibility of respecting his rules. Despite the fact I drove it most of the time didn't change the fact that it belonged to him. Was that harsh? Not one bit. It was good parenting. You come across as a good parent too, Jenn.

Yes Bubba is his name. It was given to him by his breeder, a nurse friend of mine who bred rat terriers. She owns a farm and has rottweiler and rat terriers. I still remember the day I picked him up. He was running with all his brothers. He had one sister who barked all the time trying to make herself seem bigger than she was. Bubba and his brothers are the bigger version of rat terrier.
My nurse friend picked Bubba as the one I should take because she said he would be a good family dog. And he is.

Ha! Walt's nickname is Bubba. He is a Giant of a Lab and of no use to his breeder but an amazing friend and family dog.

You sound like my children when they were young. I gifted my kids used cars but they followed my rules. The difference being in my family as they graduated college I didn't take the cars back from them. They were allowed to keep them. Frankly, I didn't want them. My DS had a Cutlass that was way back a car of my Dads, given to me and given to my DS. It made a nice trade in for his first new car post college graduation.

My DD car was purchased from and Estate of a passed neighbor. While older one would never know it, he was elderly when he bought it the car had less than 20,000 miles and never saw snow or ice and still has less than 40,000 miles on her without any rust. Given our Northern IL climate unheard of. My DD can either drive it or turn it over as a trade in, I don't care. She is an adult and worthy of the adult decision.

So I'm so excited for my trip that I want to surprise my son with another reservation he likes. It's Hoop De Doo Revues dinner show. I would like any thoughts anyone has on it. We went once before and he had a blast.

Hoop is one of my all time favorite places in WDW and I don't go often enough. My DS one year on Christmas day was chosen by cast to go up on stage with the crew. We all had the time of our life's. Go for it!

Sounds like me. I like it to be freezing when I get in bed at night. I like having to bundle up. I can't sleep if I'm hot. I remember after Hurricane Katrina when we had no power for several days. It was absolutely miserable.

hah, I usually try to keep one UPS no break unit with enough power to fuel a floor fan when that happens.
it indeed feels miserable when we lose power.

thanks god the power failures have been less usual these years.
at most 4 hours or so.

Unlike some people who are ticked when the light turns red juuuust as you get to the intersection, I just relax and figure God wanted to slow me down for two minutes.
When we get to Heaven I think we're going to be shocked how many of life's little inconvenient delays prevented us from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

you know, the funny thing of driving in full relax mode is; you get to see the enraged faces of people who did a lot to go past you and many other cars.. just have to stop in the same red light.

That is kinda the same here. We all have a vehicle that we drive specifically. If I wasn't going anywhere and it was really snowing I sent the kids off in mine as it is 4x4. Last winter when we just had storm after storm my kid put far more miles on my vehicle than I did. But routinely we all have 'our' own cars.

We have one car. Makes life simple.

What a fun idea!! I've always wanted to go to that, myself, but would feel a bit out of place going solo; I imagine it's a very big family attraction. Still, I know that you and your son will have a great time, and for what it's worth, I've never actually heard anything negative about it. All reviews have been positive!

Yeah, my daughter will go with us to WDW but she has to leave early so I'm kind of doing what she likes when she's there then what he like when it's just him and me.

Yikes that was a tad harsh.

I view @StarWarsGirl95 more as a family team player that her parents respect for all of her academic achievements and family contributions especially with her compassion and devotion to her brother and her awareness to her parents needs to give them couple time while caring for her brother. I respect her convictions as a Christian even though I don't pretend to be as devote myself. Their family seems to have a two way respect for each other and a family where everyone pitches in. I admire that.

My kids cars are/were in my name for financial reasons but they are THEIR cars. I signed the title over when my son traded his in for a new car he purchased. When my DD buys a better car I will sign the title and let her trade hers in also as the cars were given to them years ago. My take is she reminds me far more of my own DD than the tales you consistently share of your DS. She doesn't seem to play with drugs, she doesn't seem to have to repeat schooling to lift grades, she helps her parents when asked and even when not asked, she does laundry for the family. But like I said I'm only going by the tales you choose to share repeatedly with us. She just doesn't strike me as a young adult I want to lash out at IMO.

I have a son who smokes dope, and another one who had a bit of a breakdown when his best friend (my mom) died, and it took him two years (with no drugs) to get his head together.

My criticism of SWG95, and it was NOT phrased harshly, was that I thought it rude of her to tell her mother how things were going to go in HER car, when, wait for it ... IT AIN'T HER CAR.
I hardly lashed out at her.

She and I are over it. I suggest you join us.

We went in November.
It was great. It had one teeny, tiny Frozen reference that had me laughing so hard I cried!

The food was okay, but in my opinion, you don't really go for the food. Except the corn bread. You go for the corn bread!

Sounds to me like your DS is a very forward thinker, and likes to learn as much as he can.

THNX He already has a first choice for college and wants to get as much scholarship money as he can, to save us money. He's planning to spend any money we've saved at Disney. Not sure if this is good or bad.
