Yea, I haven’t run into that in quite a while, actually. JMO, but I think more modern gas pump handles/nozzles, when filling a tank, cut off sooner than old ones used to, if inserted properly.
But, yes, I remember pulling up to pumps before and getting out of the car to heavy gas smell, both on the ground and on the pump handle.
The other thing about gasoline, I don’t care what kinda’ soap you use, the gas smell is still gonna’ be there on your skin, to some degree, for a while.
We gassed up at the Speedway across from DHS and it was a nice touch that there were hand sanitizer dispensers next to the gas pumps. Good way to disinfect your hands from the filthy gas pump handle.

I think that as a former northern person (63 years), I am fascinated on how often people seem shocked that it can be cold and snowing in April. There is nothing unusual about it. On my daughters wedding day April 8th we got enough snow that it closed our airport in Burlington. I remember driving in blizzard conditions in both the end of October. (Blizzard conditions flying in from Boston to Vermont) and the 15th of April. Fourteen years ago on that date it was windy and cold all day.

It was the day the the movers loaded up my earthly possessions and they and I headed out a little after five driving to Albany in route to my new home in NC. Figuring that my bed was on a truck headed south, I might as well get a start and head south. Car loaded up with only enough room left for me to sit behind the wheel and much to my mixed emotions it started to snow. Not a lot, but enough to look at it as an omen confirming my decision to get the hell out of this stuff. So with some regret of leaving friends and family mixed with gleeful anticipation I put the Beatles song "I'll follow the sun" on repeat for the first 50 miles. And never looked back. Visited a few times, but never longed for the "Crisp" air that comes with -20F and more of winter that lasted from October to Mid-April.

One other thing that I experienced in my youth was going to a lake high in the Adirondack mtns. with my dad and his friend for a day of fishing. We got there, got out of the car and were hit with the coldest blast of air I had ever experienced and then it started to spit snow. Two things came to my mind. One was how could fish get into the lake at this elevation and how the heck it could possibly snow on the 4th of July. Yes, you read the correctly! Since we hadn't considered that we might need winter clothing, none of us figured that we like fishing that much and got back in the car and went home.

Just to prove to me that things are tough all over, I left Albany mid-morning and headed into chilly, heavy rain most of the day. I had planned to just drive through to the Raleigh area but old age and fatigue made me decide that I would stop and stay overnight in Fredericksburg, Virginia. It turned out that as I was lounging in Virginia a Tornado was running about a mile east of where my apartment was located. I didn't know about it until I got there. As I was driving I was wondering why there were so many branches and other debris on the road. When I got there I found out. My new place was fine but the path that storm took leveled a very wide path from just south of Raleigh through Cary, NC and even parts of downtown Raleigh. Surprised but not detered I decided that it was a good thing for me at least. There was a movie starring Robin Williams (The World According to Garp) where his character was just pulling into the driveway of the house he was thinking about buying as a plane flew into the second story of it. His reaction was "this is great, it's pre-disastered".

This is very, very late for snow here

Remember fishing, canoeing , swimming in lakes back in the day. Doing that in the South is a death wish with 🐊🐊looking for a snack.

Those critters have a pretty tough time surviving in the winter up north. They become gatorsicles quickly. BTW, have I ever mentioned that gator meat tastes like chicken? Then again, what doesn't?

Like eating fried gator nuggets with dipping sauce with ice cold beers to wash it down. I don’t think gator is served at WDW but is served at Gatorland and the Catfish Place in Kissimmee along with frog legs and turtle. Sautéed snake in TX does taste like chicken with a spicy kick.

My only experience was Gator-Jambalaya on the riverboat Natchez tour in New Orleans.

I'm not surprised about snow. The fact is Milwaukee county to the Illinois border usually doesn't snow past mid April and not a lot of snow in April in general.

That being said, the more north in Wisconsin you get, the high of a chance of snow totals in Wisconsin. The Snow Capital in Wisconsin is located over 300+ miles Northwest of the county I live in and gets more snow April as a result.

The reason I said snow capital in Wisconsin in because there is small city/town in the state that average 155 inches of snow a year with the capabilities of getting up to 300 inches of snow a year.

Where I live usually gets less than 50 inches of snow a year and I rather handle that instead.

Hey, we've got some light snow action going on outside this morning! Not supposed to accumulate much here (less than an inch), but it's really fun to see it in April! Good times! 🥰

The Snow Capital in Wisconsin is getting 3 to 5 inches of snow on Monday night.
