If it means the car then no Kia
I can tell you while my dad has a KIA from 2010 or 2011, he bought a RAV4 last year. That KIA he has a good amount of miles put on that was back working before he retired. My dad used to put on at over 40 miles a day from work alone. Mom also has vehicle that is even older.
My dad didn't get a newer KIA because he doesn't like the newer models and also when my dad was looking for a new vehicle, newer KIAS were the vehicle thieves wanted to steal in the city they live in.
Thanks, all! That is not the car you are looking for
Thanks, all!
I own a white 2022 Honda Passport now. Don’t hate it, never loved it. Soon trade value will plummet as I approach 20K miles and a redesign is coming in 2025.
Prior to that, I leased a 2018 electric blue RAV4 and loved it. Don’t love the newer versions as much.
Found a 2024 sapphire blue Kia Sportage SX Prestige, brand new leftover, premium sound system, all kinds of bells & whistles, marked down from $37K to $31K. Reasonably presuming $25K credit for my car, and guessing I can get them down to $30K, it would be a fairly easy transaction with little new debt. (I owe about $12K on the Honda.)
Looked at CR-V but would have to buy the Touring level ($45K reduced to $39K so far) just to get the Bose stereo. And no blue available.
Wish list vs. Kia:
Bright blue
Better stereo
Sunroof (bonus: huge panoramic sunroof)
Heated power seats (bonus: also cooling.)
Hybrid:
AWD (found one with AWD but $4K higher. Also has a tow hitch. May negotiate.)
Add’l bonuses: love the screens 2 x 12”
360 cameras
Put turn signal on, screen shows camera on that side of car.
Heated steering wheel for those 3 nights in January or in case we flee to Canada.
I like the design, also discontinued so a newer one would not be better.

Those are the twins. One FWD, one AWD.
Haven’t slept a wink. Time for melatonin and stuff.
@Santa Raccoon 77 how is it on your little island. News of the storm was on my local news this morning although they only talked about Wales and London
10 yr / 100K powertrain warranty is a great thing to have with KiaTo Kia or not to Kia - that is the question.
Blue is OK... Red is betterThanks, all!

I’m officially old…I went Buick EncoreTo Kia or not to Kia - that is the question.
AWD is better in rain with better traction and in FL when it rains it pours sometimes raining 2-3x a day in the summer time.Blue is OK... Red is better
Stereo system is important.... I presently have a system that works off an SD card. I love it and the primary reason why I still have the same car pushing 6 years later. That said after constant playing for the past 6 years it is starting to develop a problem and frankly I have never seen another vehicle with one of those. I built my own music entertainment I could start when I left Raleigh and end up in Kissimmee and never heard the same thing twice. Loved it. But it is a little more difficult to establish.
Sunroof? I've got a nice one but I only have one because the car came with it. I never use it. A situation that my daughter scolds me about repeatedly. I do open and close it regularly just to keep the system in working order.
Heated seats...with a prevent swamp butt cooling system is great. I have the heated which is useless in NC as it never gets cold enough to need one. Mine isn't cooling but I did own one a few years back and it was a wonderful option.
Hybrid... I think they are good. I never owned one, but I did have a company car before I retired and I was impressed with the 50 miles per gallon part of it and that was 14 years ago. It never seemed to lack power.
AWD..... What in the pluperfect hell would anyone living in South Florida need that? Front wheel drive is mostly the answer to all traction problems you might have in Florida. I lived 20 miles from the Canadian border in Vermont for 63 years and never needed one. Front wheel drive got me everywhere that I needed to go.
Screens... Why? As a person that taught defensive driving in my job I have always seen those screens as distractions. The only time that I could justify it was when you use something like Waze because trying to focus on a phone instead of a screen is more dangerous. But to each his own. 360 degree cameras are a fun thing but even more of a distraction. I've driven in Florida many, many times and my feeling is you do not take your eyes off the road unless you like spending time in hospitals.
As for KIA... I have never owned one, but I have heard from a lot of sources that the engines are a problem and tend to give up early. Just generally, certainly not everyone gives out. If you don't keep a vehicle very long it probably isn't a problem.
I'm sure none of the above helped but I was in a talkative mood this morning. Good luck with whatever you decide, just make sure that you can play Helter Skelter or any of the Beatles catalog loud enough to break glass. The base lines are worth a hearing loss.
Especially when the transmission goes out 3 times. The dealership I got my new car, sold my Kia or put it up for auction.10 yr / 100K powertrain warranty is a great thing to have with Kia

I’d get a Kia over a Jeep or Chrysler product any day of the week.Especially when the transmission goes out 3 times. The dealership I got my new car, sold my Kia or put it up for auction.
My new car is cheaper for insurance too
It rains everywhere and it is important to have good tires with good tread. The tread gives the ability of the tire to displace the water instead of ride up on it. Therefore, it will have no bearing on how many wheels are under power. The problem in the rain is hydroplaning which happens mostly when someone is driving to fast in heavy rains, period. You could have 15 wheels turning if they are being held away from the surface of the road it will not matter at all. It might be fun to blame stuff like that on the equipment when actually the equipment is only as good as the operator. If one is going slow enough even bald, no tread, tires will stay in contact with the road during any type of downpour.AWD is better in rain with better traction and in FL when it rains it pours sometimes raining 2-3x a day in the summer time.
