Now that Thanksgiving is over it's time for Christmas decorations. My buddy bought an 8-9 foot tree asked him how much $250 dollars OMG. Got on line and looked at the big box store prices ridiculous 6' tree 90 bucks. what are other areas paying I'm in coastal SC. Artificial is looking better all the time
I remember buying real trees for $20.00 or less. They weren't as well shaped and full like todays trees are. We used to have 2 foot gaps in the branches that had to be covered over by lots of tinsel. If you draped the lights just right and put out the room lights you couldn't tell. Then you had those strings of lights that were the same temperature as the surface of the sun and when one light burnt out, which they did constantly, you had to go through the entire string to find and fix. But the pine smell generated by those hot bulbs was terrific.

When our boys were young and money was tight I went and cut 2 pine trees down 6' alone they were pretty sad. cut the branches off one and wired them into the other. Actually didn't look to bad and the boys were thrilled to see it. Just might do that this year --it's just the wife and I boys will be in FL with their kids this year

I only use artificial trees, we have 7 trees throughout the house. The last one we bought 10 years ago is a 6 foot tree and was $30. Our main tree is 8 foot and we got that tree from my parents 19 years ago and they used it for at least 10 years before that; it still looks great. I know people like the smell and whatever of living trees but artificial if fine for me and has been much cheaper in the long run.

Some artificial look just as good as live ones IMHO. Plus, no needle drop-hate that.

I remember doing that wiring and occasionally taping. I eventually got tired of spending the money and having to fit the tree in the base and one year at an auction there was a 7 foot, never used, artificial tree and I bought it for $10.00. I used that tree up until I moved to NC (about 30+ years) when the tree was still passable but the box it was stored in was toast.

I was much happier with that one but one of my girls decided that she was going to be upset with me for not having a real one and anytime we were anywhere near a real pine tree she would sniff the air and try and make me feel guilty. I just told her that she could have one any time as long as she was willing to buy it and get it placed in the base every year. Her desire ended about there. After she grew up and got married for the first two years he had a real one and after dealing with the difficulties and the mess she decided that those artificial ones weren't all that bad.

We've had a fake one for a while now and I miss the real ones but don't miss going out to cut one down in the cold and cleaning up the mess

There's a reason I don't live where you live. 😝
I know considering my right knee and left hip acted up on Thanksgiving due to weather.

I think you call some people in Wisconsin weird for eating frozen custard outside in temps in the 20s also.

As far as Black Friday goes, I usually don't shop on that day outside . Besides I found a deal online earlier in the week for something I needed.

I grew up with artificial Christmas tree and still use artificial to this day as an adult. One of the reasons for me is my allergies.

I was told my parents started used artificial Christmas trees before I was born due to parents had a needle problem with real tree in the year they got married. They were lucky dad discovered the needle problem before they left their house for Christmas party at the time.

My parents did water the tree according to them, but the needle issue still happened at the time. My parents decided artificial Christmas trees are the way to go after that experience.

Kya s and Hyundais got recalled as well. Apparently a sensor can catch fire or stop working thanks to cracking.
That's sad to hear. One car company some love or not has its issues too but at times from owners crashing their vehicles. My gym rat buddy likes his Tesla minus the frequent times he has to find a power source to charge his vehicle. His Tesla has been trouble free and he advised on long trips he puts his driver seat back takes a nap and lets the Tesla drive itself.

Hope he has good insurance in case of an accident with another vehicle, due to some sort of malfunction with his self-driving feature -- while he was napping in the driver's seat. :cautious:
