The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

In the thread up in N&R (where you also posted this), I'm just wondering, in general -- am I the only one who's having difficulty following that thread? It just seems almost frenetic. I recall in past D23's that we'd have a few people that would keep updating us, and it was exciting to follow. I'm not getting that same reaction (at least so far) with the current thread. Now, it may be that they told the guests with phones to put them in envelopes, so no live updates? What's up with that? Also--

I'm still trying to figure out if the panel will be live streamed? That would be fun to watch, but there doesn't seem to be any consensus about the major panel being streamed or not. Sigh.

Yea, it’s kind of a mess...similar to the interview with Jeff Goldblum about halfway down page 62...!!!!! :hilarious:
I’ve never tried to follow a D23 thread before, but, seems like maybe too many cooks, as the saying goes...?
Posters were just throwin’ in left and right as things were happening.
The guy that made the Legends Awards video said they were allowed to use cameras/phones, as Disney was streaming/allowing it to be streamed anyway.
I think it was posted that phones would be bagged for the major panel, but, I’m not sure either... 🤔

Glad it's not just me getting confused. I know I read that the WDWMagic forum was going to be having an update on events, and perhaps that is still in the works. (That would either be in a dedicated thread of all major updates together, or perhaps it meant that each subject would have an individual thread.) Or maybe, all the major announcements are only going to happen tomorrow, on Sunday?

I normally don't pot product reviews, but I have to on this one.

I bought a new backpack for WDW. I decided to splurge and get an LL Bean. I wanted something smaller than my old college backpack, so I found this one.

Oh. My. Gosh. This is the most comfortable bag I've ever carried in WDW. I have my umbrella, my camera, and my portable nebulizer in this bag. I thought my back would be killing me. It's not. Not in the least. It's small enough to go on rides yet extremely durable. Seriously, anyone needs a new parks backpack? This one.

Just finished watching an almost 2-hr.-long fan video of the D23 Expo Disney Legends Awards ceremony.
Got a good chuckle when Christina Aguilera said her love of Disney started when she first saw “The Sound of Music”...!!!!! :cyclops::hilarious:

Although, to be fair, with the Fox acquisition last year, Disney does now own the rights to the movie...!!! :D:hilarious:;):)

Well Christina Aguilera never struck me as being all too bright. Well they are already redoing Home Alone. Kingsman franchise is pretty gory. I watched the first because of Colin Firth.

Not sure here either.
I’ll just check in on that thread from time to time to see if I can make sense of some of it...!!! ;)

I honestly know pretty much nothing about Christina Aguilera, other than already knowing her association with Disney started with her being on the Mickey Mouse Club.
I already heard they were remaking “Home Alone”. The only reason I can think of is they’ve done the research and they see the money, and, of course, to put the Disney “mark” on it... :cautious:

:hilarious:;)

Beyond that, I know about as much of Firth as Aguilera, and have no clue what the Kingsman franchise is... 🤷‍♂️

I’ve always heard good things about all LL Bean packs!

Reminds me of swimming lessons. I learned from a Red Cross course in my town when I was 5. I was like a fish in water! Always was a great swimmer.

Now, my mother never was taught how to swim, and she was terrified of water (that's why she enrolled me at 5 to take swimming). Also, hubs never learned how to swim either, and he tried to learn a little, a few years ago, but bailed. Just couldn't get the coordination together, and I think fear set in. Yup, it's a whole different learning curve for adults. I've seen the same type of scenario with skiing -- many kids pick it up so quickly, and have no fear.

Yep, pop learned to swim as a child, but, mom never learned. Same with MIL.
Funny thing with MIL...
DWifey has always said that she is so afraid of water that she only ever puts about 2 inches of water in the tub to take a bath.
Yet, she seemed to have no water “issues” on our week-long cruise last July, even on the katamaran for the snorkeling excursion in Jamaica...of course, that may have had somethin’ to do with the included libations on that excursion...!!!!! :D;);)

They last a LONG time. My brother is a senior in HS. He's still carrying the one he got in middle school. I carried mine from middle to high school, got a new one with a laptop sleeve for college, my college one is my travel one now. It's a tad big for the parks; I'd do nothing but have my dad hand my stuff in the parks, but this new one is perfect.

I got it on sale, so it was $37 instead of $50. Worth every penny.

I love it. 2 questions please. How tall of a water bottle does it hold without fear of dumping out? And did you get the sale price in store or online?

I like my sturdy athletic string backpacks that have cup pouches but it it is a day I need to stuff a coat or poncho in etc when heavier the strings get uncomfortable

For the ten thousandth time...

It's. Not. A. Hotel.
Yep. Most don’t read. It is becoming a thing in America today all the way to the top of our food chain the last few years. Some just find humor in anything Disney. Trolling Disney has become an art form on most WDW Forums.

Also duly noted: that is single person per room price. Similar to a single person on a cruise rate. If you have 2-5 it is dramatically less per person for the 2 day all inclusive experience. No park tickets necessary.

I am not a SW fan. So it isn’t for me but for those mega fans a trip of a lifetime.

It's pretty tall, but not bulky. I put my refillable mug in it and my golf size umbrella. Both fit easily with room to spare. There's also water bottle holders on the side. I think it will be good for winter when I need to stuff a jacket in there.

I got the sale price online. I think there was a discount code. We don't have LLbean stores near me. They're running a huge clearance sale and they're offering free shipping on back to school items. I added another string backpack (I like my Adidas ones, but they fall apart) and it was considered a school backpack, so the shipping was free.

There's an add on for Chrome called Retail Me Not. It's one of the few add ons I have. It will try a bunch of promo codes for youat once of various sites and give you the best price. Oh, it also gives you cash back for online purposes. It does track your purchases though for marketing purposes. I don't really care; it's free money as far as I'm concerned, and if they're really all that interested in what backpacks I looked at or how much Papa John's I shamefully order when I'm too lazy to get in my car and grab food, more power to them. But I know not all feel that way.

Thanks. I usually go with my adidas string for a good five years or a cross body depending on what I’m doing and how long. I’ve never had an adidas pack fall apart but they do get gross after a few trips and don’t wash well. They are cheap so minimum I replace once a year given we love Disney and go frequently like your family.

But this one you posted is intriguing. Seems small enough for what I need. Im a minimalist. I’m within an hour of the new store. I will look tomorrow. I’m up against the timeframe of ordering as it could make it or not before our long trip. Thanks for posting.

It is easier to follow Steve’s news page vs forums this weekend He does post all major news without the Troll confusion.

I’ve learned over time some are here to take any opportunity to troll and repeatedly pounce on Disney which gets old. I look for Steve to provide real information absent of members trolling on forums. Steve is a class act and has a good reputation. Trolls they are what they are.
