Curious -- did you actually get any knitting done? :) (If so, what your making? Also, do you knit a few things each year for Christmas gifts, or do you knit for yourself and hubs? I realize that knitting takes a lot of time, and it's hard when you're also working, etc., to find enough time for a hobby.)

Actually made quite a bit of progross on a pair of socks I've been working on for quite some time.... my knitting mojo has been down in the past year.... I also tried to work on a crochet corner to corner baby blanket I'm making...it's the 3rd one this year (so many babies!) ... so I'm kinda over it, but it's gotta be done in early july, so I gotta keep on hooking along. I pretty much only knit gifts for babies and socks/hats/mittens for hubby and I. Hubby knits too, but mostly toys.

I knitted a bumblebee when I was 12, it was a school project, also the first and last thing I ever knitted. It was an exercise in frustration for me. I'm impressed you can do it and enjoy it.

Oh you are lucky. I was always taught to swim parallel to the shore if that ever happened. But as I have saidbpreviously, you would never catch me that far out in the ocean as I got the bejesus scared out of me when I was taken to see Jaws at age 5. :cautious:
I still won't watch that movie...

I go out pretty far when I snorkel. The reefs protect the shores of Oahu so you normally can do that safely. Normally. You can swim diagonally or parallel, just as long as you don't fight the current. In my case, I just knew getting to the rocks would save me. Well, that and the fact that I had on a snorkel mask and tube and could both breathe and see.

One trip several years ago I saw a shark while snorkeling. It was maybe two feet long. I swam one way and it swam the other. I dislike jellyfish more.

I learned to crochet when I was 8... then quickly abandoned it because as an 8 year old, it didn't hold my attention. Maybe now that you are older, you should give it another try. I didn't start knitting until about 8 years ago.

Maybe once I retire I'll try. At the moment I don't think I have the patience.
I forgot about crochet, I learned that in school as well, I can't remember what I made but I remember disliking it. Maybe I'm not an arts and crafts person...
