I'm so sorry! I hate having to run around to get something like that done...it just seems like so much effort and time for something so minor. The difference between your middle initial and full middle name...like, is it REALLY that important?
I got a survey today about my experience picking up my resident card. I complained that the effort to get there is too much. To have to drive for an hour and a half to two hours, working around work and school schedules, or having to take public transportation which takes even longer....all to spend 2 minutes picking up your card. Why? My husband and kids were able to do everything for their passports at City hall...why can't they take care of the resident card there, too? Or at least be able to choose the immigration office closest to you! Why have to drive halfway across the country several times? You have to go one place to turn it in, another place to get your fingerprints and picture taken and give them your signature, and then another place to pick up the finished document. It's ridiculous. They are doing the background check and such on you anyway. By the time you are approved and get your document, there's no reason to make you go to an immigration location to pick it up....send it registered mail if you have to.
So you are fixing your license soon and then you should be good to go for your travel without the passport, right? I hope it's an easy process to change it!
That is unbelievable! He should totally try and find another job. Sadly part of owning a small business is having credit card balances because business has ups and downs and bills need to be paid. I get that since dh is a small business owner. Eventually it will all get paid. It is nice that you have people that trade with you and help you out.I'm sorry, I have no short answers for anything LOL.
We have been on Obamacare since he got laid off from Margaritaville (another company bought the hotel and completely wiped out all management - "nothing personal.") We were on it for a few years before Margaritaville (Coventry) and it was great. Coventry since bowed out, and Ambetter "am not" better. Way more expensive, way fewer benefits.
This will be a couple of months of "debt spending." We're more or less used to it by now, every year. It always sucks. We try not to worry about the credit card balances and try to pay them down when he is back on regular pay. Hence any Disney trip is all on points, our Key West trip is on trade. The house tenting is going on the credit card and there's no way around that. We make the best of it. OTOH, December and April are usually great months LOL, and that's when we make some headway. But I'd love a year without pay interruption.
I'm glad I don't have to go on job interviews now - it's so different from what I was always taught to do - go in person, follow-up, etc. It's all on computers now and scanned by computers.
My business has been too small to cobble together health insurance better than he would get working for a big company.
Theoretically, in years past, he could collect unemployment while laid off, and many stadium employees did. He always had some kind of side gig, he would work temporarily at a Broadway-type venue during their busier time (after football season) etc. So he filed for unemployment but never ended up actually unemployed long enough to collect.
The trick is - this time they did not lay him off. They just told him "you can only work one week in May and one week in June." That's sticking in my craw.
We get our licenses right away here in PA. By the way I got emailed from Geico today about them wanting to speak to me. They wanted to know if my oldest dd had her license yet. I said no, and then the rep discussed an umbrella policy. Right now we have 100k:300k coverage. They recommended the umbrella for 1 million. They said it is good to do that when you have a young driver. It would be $242 for a year. Is this something normally done or is it a money grab? Were you offered this @SteveBrickNJ ?Here in Michigan they don't get you your permanent license right away (I won't get it in time for my trip), so they will give me a piece of paper with the old license stapled. Rather than use that, I'll just use the passport for this trip, that way there is no hassle what so ever! My middle name is kind of confusing because it's Kay... and my middle initial is of course K. But from henceforth I will have to spell out K-A-Y. Eyeroll.... technicalities.
The process there seems very ridiculous. So much running around.

Hey everyone, hope you don't mind joining in! I'm Anna!
I've already profited from joining this site, because I just read about you guys getting your licenses to take on trips....
and it made me check my documents, and I realzed BOTH my ID and passport expired in March. YIKES!!!
I cannot believe I FORGOT to check on this sooner. I just got myself an appointment at city hall to get them renewed. A few weeks later and I would have been cutting it close to get them done ion time before my WDW trip in September!
So: THANK YOU!!!
What I thought.Meh.. mostly a money grab... I mean, potentially if something happened and you had a big liability claim then you'd have more coverage, but the average person doesn't need it.

What is that contraption she is holding? It looks kind of like a toothbrush with a pacifier guard thingy on it, but I can't imagine why you would put a guard on a toothbrush as it then wouldn't be very functional because it would restrict the positioning of the toothbrush.
You and me both sister... September can't come soon enough... but at least I have my Minnesota trip coming up!I need another Disney vacation...soon
