I'm so sorry to hear that, but I'm glad you got to spend some time with her at Christmas. When you say "hope for the best", what does that look like? Is that that she holds on longer, or that your mom makes it on time to say goodbye? That she goes peacefully? I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Goes peacefully, she has been looking pretty miserable. Its horrible ot have one side paralysed. She cant even eat properly and needs help for everything.

My best friend and her husband are in town visiting WDW for the first time this busy weekend. I spent 11 hours in MK yesterday for the first time in years and I don't think I truly appreciated being a local (and having the ability to spend as little as half an hour in the park) as I did yesterday lol

Blessed.

I so look forward to that 'being local' day. I spent 4 weeks in WDW last Spring and it was a total gift to be able to spend just a little time in a park or pop in for a meal or just for Fantasmic.

Last night my family was able to use a Bob Evans Restaurant gift card my brother gave us. I opted for the turkey platter.View attachment 350662
Apparently, as cool as it isn't to go to Bob Evans, I always felt that it was a good meal at at good price. I'm using the word WAS because the Bob Evans that we had here in Cary has closed up. That was the last of the good family meal restaurants in the area. We lost Perkins about two years ago and Denny's is at least 10 miles from my house. There are a lot of the specialty places like Red Lobster and Olive Garden, but, those are more expensive and have less variety to offer.

When traveling I always either headed for Bob Evans or Cracker Barrel. We still have CB but that is also around 10 miles up the road. Bob Evans was always a good place to go if I was to lazy to make my own balanced diet. At the time it was only about 3/4 of a mile away. (For those of you that use funny metric names and additional unnecessary letters to words, that's 1.2 kilometers.)

I'm sorry to read about your lack of family meal places. It's happening all over America but I can't understand why. The Bob Evans we went to is an 1 and 15 minutes from my home. We made a special trip there because: #1 it was something different to do...and #2 We had received a $50 gift card for Bob Evans.
There WAS a Denny's within walking distance of my neighborhood but it closed 7 or 8 years ago. My nearest family restaurant is 10 minutes away....I-Hop.

I've wondered that, myself. Maybe the trend is shifting to lighter cooking (I think some of the family restaurant chains had a reputation for perhaps more fat and sodium in the cooking). But I still think there is room for a variety of reasonably-priced family restaurants (serving traditional dinner meals).

Some people may be more health conscious while at home. But when they go out, they might want some comfort food like a pot roast or turkey dinner, with mashed potatoes, vegetables. gravy. rolls and butter. :hungry: I like places that give you generous portions, so that you end up taking home the equivalent of a 2nd meal to heat up in the microwave, the next day! :)

Yet there is no shortage of burger places. In my town we have 2 McD's, a Burger King, 2 Wendy's, one "5 Guys Burgers and Fries", a Red Robin and a Smash Burger 🍔

I lived in east Orlando for 2 years and moved to the Windermere area last spring, which made my visits even easier. Unfortunately the man I'm dating isn't so keen on Orlando so I'm afraid my years are numbered with this luxury

Windermere is pretty. I hope you do get to stay. Did you two meet in the Orlando-ish area?
