I went out with my wife for 6 months before we got married. I was 23 and she was 31. Both sides of the family predicted that it wouldn't last. Partially because of our age difference and also because I was Catholic and she was Protestant. Well, they were right, it only stayed together for 29 years. We split up within three months of when our youngest daughter got married. Whenever, I start to feel like the marriage was a complete failure, 29 years seems like a long time for anything to last.

I make no attempt to find someone, because, well it's complicated, but, it has to do with trust issues. I would rather be alone then play the dating game again. Not to mention the fact that no woman sane enough to want to spend time with wants an old, bald, overweight grump. (and believe me, anyone that I would want to be with MUST BE SANE.) We all have some baggage, but, I would prefer that the baggage not take up a freight train car.
29 is still a long time, I dont think that could be said as a "complete failure"

Speakin' of sight...
Last night, I had another

Except, maybe, beer. ;)
Speaking of beer, our city recently had a new micro-brewery open.

Hubby went to check it out this week and brought home this bad boy:

1.89 l/64 oz - the Growler.

Wonder how long before they get their hands slapped for their non-bilingual packaging.

Bonus point for anyone who knows why Brantford is called the "Bell City". Might be of particular interest to @Cesar R M.

nope, I only had my 50mm prime lens, very light and fast.
The shipping company made a mistake and did not deliver my lens on time. the claimed my boss didn't lived in the address I gave him.
which was infuriating.. all packages I sent to the exact same address, arrived with no issue.
even one from the same shipping company.
I would have taken better ones if I had the longer lens imho.

for example. some of the photos I took, where of the parade.. and the sun was straight into my eyes.
so some of the photos looked a bit "burned". The small 50mm lens came with no lenshood. So the sun affected it easily.

I don't have any of those issues with my iPhone. Nothing burnt just green.

This was the morning rush to Toy Story, not what I'm used to at all. I actually rode twice in a row!

It was a little foggy that morning, it made TOT look really spooky!

Alexander Graham Bell, the man widely credited with inventing the telephone, conceived his invention at his home in Brantford, Ontario. While the patent was registered in the U.S. (beating his competitor by a mere two hours), Brantford along with Boston, both lay claim to being the birthplace of the telephone.

His work on the telephone was an incidental extension of his work with the deaf.

From Wikipedia:
Alexander Graham Bell (March 3, 1847 – August 2, 1922),was an eminent Scottish-born scientist, inventor, engineer and innovator who is credited with inventing the first practical telephone.

Bell's father, grandfather, and brother had all been associated with work on elocution and speech, and both his mother and wife were deaf, profoundly influencing Bell's life's work. His research on hearing and speech further led him to experiment with hearing devices which eventually culminated in Bell being awarded the first U.S. patent for the telephone in 1876. Bell considered his most famous invention an intrusion on his real work as a scientist and refused to have a telephone in his study.

Many other inventions marked Bell's later life, including groundbreaking work in optical telecommunications, hydrofoils and aeronautics. In 1888, Bell became one of the founding members of the National Geographic Society.

Can you take a picture of the ceilings??? Those look unique.
Yup. I had planned on it - tomorrow during daylight hours.

I don't care for them, but it really was "the thing" for Builders to do in the 70's.
There were only a handful of skilled plasterers at the time, and they were kept very busy.

It was quite the coup to boast that your new home had plaster swirled dining room and living room ceilings. Clearly these pre-date the horrible ubiquitous stipple-sprayed (popcorn) ceilings.

In less than a week you are going to be WARM. :)

Did you pick out nice clothes for your trip, is the suitcase packed? :geek:
As "nice" as the clothes are gonna get. :) I go for comfort instead of trying to make some fashion statement. Formal dinner wardrobe is all nicely rolled in our nicely packed suitcases. I still have to pack the carry-ons and buy snacks for the drive to the airport. Ninety minute drive to Pittsburgh, two hour flight to Ft. Lauderdale, forty mile ride to Miami.

My parents too. Except they got married when my mom was 19, so that makes me feel a bit sick to my stomach. Not happening any time soon.

My relatives on my mom's side of the family are now trying to set me up. Had to tell them the same thing I told my dad's side of the family...don't even think about it.

You are so much like my DD. She wants to live a life and do things before even consider being a couple. I admire you both for not bowing to the pressure. While marriage works out for many it certainly doesn't for all.

Yikes! The idea of that...just...no.

My mom was 19, Dad was 25.
Mom was 29 and Dad was 35 when I was born. They were smart; they waited until they were financially stable and had a house before they had me.

Yep, there was no way I was having any kids before I had a home and everything that I needed in it. We dated a long time and waited even longer before my son was born.
