With the holidays fast approaching I miss @MOXOMUMD even more.:(

Yep, same here. Miss her very much, too.
It’s always a bit jolting when a member just up and disappears with no clear reason, especially for such a long period of time.
Some members have known other members close enough and/or one or more of their family members, so we find out through them.
But, too many times there is no other way to connect to them other than when they’ve posted here.
Of course, my wish and hope is that they are all doing very well and just decided to concentrate on other things for now.
Hopefully, we will hear from all of them again at some point in the future.
No matter what, God bless them all.

Totally shameless plug department again. Sorry guys and gals, but I'm having a bit of a good year as far as my shows getting produced. this doesn't happen often.

All of a sudden, my play THE CRUMPLE ZONE, which was a big off-Broadway hit in the summer of 2000 with Mario Cantone, is playing in Phoenix, Arizona, and they seem to like it a lot.

CRUMPLE ARIZONA.jpg

If anyone happens to be in Phoenix, Arizona and wants to see a play that takes place at Christmas and is about the breakup of a long term relationship, and it's a comedy (!!!), let me know, because I have access to my author comps, which I am unable to use.

My unpopular opinion is too much emphasis on sports with kids at a young age is not a good idea. I guess I'm just old school.. I just want kids to be able to be kids without having so much stress and pressure of try outs, and making the team. My co-worker and I disagree on this.. she was just talking today about her daughter and the freshman volleyball team and how they are playing over the Holidays.. and that if they go away on vacation with family, their play time gets cut... it's all just TOO MUCH. (at least for me it is!)

says the woman who has no kids...
I think an activity can be a good way to teach kids about discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship....all important lessons, but the key is to balance it with everything else. My son plays chess...he started with soccer, but he wasn't very good at it and the coaches were so focused on winning that DS never got to play and he was constantly the scapegoat during practices....the coaches would literally set him up for failure to make him run, probably in the hope of motivating him to improve. But the kid just doesn't have the motorskills and coordination for sports that involve a ball. (we're starting physical therapy again in a couple of weeks to work on the motorskills) He came home in tears every time. So we switched to chess.
DD does musical theater. She doesn't have an athletic bone in her body and gets extra help in PE because it's her weakest subject. So sports aren't her forte and she'd rather do musical theater. She still gets the lessons of teamwork and discipline.
But it's just that for both of them...a hobby. Sometimes they have to miss a lesson because of something at school, or whatever...there's nothing riding on it. Actually, DD took a whole year off because she was so incredibly stressed just with school that she would burst into tears, feeling like she had too much to do...at 10. So she took a year off, realized how much she loved it and missed it, and went back the next year.
That being said, some kids just LOVE everything sports. DS would have done everything if we had let him, but we just didn't have the time to devote to that many sports. He LOVES basketball, and baseball, and soccer, and he did every kids run there was...he's not GOOD at sports, but he enjoys them. (Well, he hates kickboxing, but so far that's the first one we've encountered that he didn't like) But the emphasis here, by his age (10) is on winning...if you're not good, you won't get to play. I'm thinking about the G team for soccer....it's for kids with special needs. It's all kids with Autism, downs syndrome, my neighbor boy played on the G team because he has some bone growth issue. So I've thought about that for DS to get some exercise and such, and I've thought about Judo to learn some self confidence. But some kids just want to do it all and as long as they are keeping up with school and other responsibilities, great. I just don't like it being so cut-throat at elementary school level. Let them be kids and have fun, you know?

I hope all of you with bad weather are staying safe. I took advantage of our good weather today in your honor. It was around 44 here and felt very mild so the dog and I took a nice long walk. Don't worry I'm not bragging, I also knew that my weather situation will change in about 24 hours. We have snow on the way, with some possible ice of course. I'm glad it is happening on the weekend we don't have to go anywhere special.
Sympathy like

On this side of the lake it's been snowing a bit today..the roads are pretty slick, but I saw the plows out, so the roads should be good in the morning. Just so I can get out of here Saturday morning..... FLORIDA is waiting for me!
Don't be surprised to find a person in your luggage:angelic: Safe travels, have fun and please take some pics for your friends who are shivering

So, someone on the DFB site responded about the dining plan. They made ADRs for feb/march at Via Napoli and Teppan Edo and received confirmation, in which it stated they do not accept the dining plan So she contacted Disney to ask about it, and they sent her a list of restaurants that accept the dining plan, and there were only 3 restaurants in the WS that do. So I definitely need to make some contingency plans in case that doesn't change. Just in case any of you are planning a trip and using the dining plan, double check your ADRs.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Have a backup but don't worry it's not even Thanksgiving yet.

Yeah, and like I said, I'm not REAL worried about most of it. Most of the things we were planning are still on the list. Via Napoli we were already planning on doing out of pocket, Teppan Edo was more to fill a credit, but I'm not opposed to doing both a Garden Grill breakfast AND a Garden Grill dinner if Teppan Edo doesn't work out. Especially with my previous Hibachi Grill experience that makes me nervous for Teppan Edo. And then Homecomin' is the only other one that isn't on the list so far, and I'll just pay out of pocket for it if I have to. The advantage of Homecomin' is that it's not in a park, so we could conceivably do that one on our non-Disney part of the trip...we don't need tickets to get to it. So I have contingency plans in place...we'll just see how it works out.
We were already going back and forth between Whispering Canyon and the Fantasmic dining package at Mama Melrose, because we only had one credit left to spend and I was waiting to see if the antics at Whispering Canyon were gone or just a bit quieter, so if Homecomin' and Teppan Edo don't get picked up by the dining plan, we'll just do both Whispering Canyon AND Fantasmic dining package, and we'll add either an 'Ohanna breakfast or a Garden Grill dinner to the list....probably GG because it's in Epcot and we would have done Teppan Edo on an Epcot night. Then there's T-rex, but I'm not married to that one. We enjoyed it last time, though we payed out of pocket and only got appetizers. It would be fun, but if we have to drop it, we have to drop it.
My main concern is finding places that DS will eat. We are working on food right now, getting him to try new things to hopefully expand his menu choices, which would help immensely at WDW. But as far as the dining plan credits go, I can't imagine that Disney would offer a dining plan that didn't include a single Disney Springs venue...that just wouldn't make sense from a financial standpoint because fewer people would get the dining plan if it's so limited, and a lot will choose to leave Disney Property...they'd be missing out on a LOT of money, so I'm betting it WILL change. But we have several months, and none of the really hard-to-get ADRs are in question, so I can still make those at the 180 mark and fill in the others later, or I can make ADRs and cancel the ones we won't use, or change them when the list is finalized if I need to. It will all work out.
