@Cesar R M , I hope all your family is safe! They said on the news that Willa is supposed to hit Mexico today, and I know you said where YOU are it's safe, but they said it's still a Cat 5 right now....so make sure you have supplies for several days so if deliveries of groceries and gas and such can't get to your area, you're still ok. Be safe!

DD and I have spent the last 2 days buying crafting supplies for all our Disney projects. My coffee table looks like a craft store exploded on it. And we FINALLY found red and white polka dot material to make a dress for DD...and maybe one for me, too. We'll see. We have to find a pattern first, and give my MIL puppy eyes to help make it.
Cat3 now and moving past our town already, we're just getting the tropical storm winds, but the mountain ranges are protecting us. The waves are a bit wild, so the Surge might be the dangerous thing for now.
Rain is ok, not raining veryhard but nonstop.

Are there no guard rails? From the picture it looks like the road just ends at the shoulder. That would be kind of scary if there were no rails.

That road (Old Spicewood Springs Road) crosses the creek (Bull Creek) 7 times in the entirety of it's 3.5 mile stretch.
It's a 2-lane, shoulderless, windy, hilly, tree canopied back road that is mostly inconsequential to any commerce. All that's out there is a coupla' horse farms, a very small subdivision, some other scattered small ranches with homes, and a public park that's mostly used for hiking and mountain biking.
Therefore, it has never been deemed financially reasonable to provide raised bridges with guardrails. All 7 crossings are simply what are called "low water crossing(s)". In the event of flooding, the water simply runs over the road. Guard rails and the structure that supports them are not feasible in that case, as they would simply trap all the debris that's in the floodwaters instead of letting it flow freely over the road, therefore creating an even bigger mess.
If you live out there, you're just plain trapped during a flood.
All who live, build, or buy are, of course, aware of this before they sign on the proverbial dotted line.
It's a great shortcut and a beautiful drive, but, count me out...!!! ;):)

Yes. Why is that sad? The first Sheetz we ever went to was across the street from it. That is funny because Sheetz is based out of PA.:joyfull:
By sad I assume you are referring to the icon. That one is for confused. = confused ... :( = sad frown. Subtle difference, but, still not the same. When was the last time you were there. I'm not remembering a Sheetz there, although they are everywhere around here, but, like I said I don't get to that area often. :)

Yikes! 40 times that you saw? Sounds as if a guard rail is in order. Stay safe my friend

Thanks, Figgy...I'll, indeed, do my best to stay safe...!!! :)

At least, over the last 42+ years we've lived here.
I remember seeing it at least 3 times one year during a particular rainy spell.
That road can be tricky at times, especially if you're unfamiliar with it. There's another section where there actually is a guard rail where folks are constantly sliding off the road through/rolling over it, and down into the trees. There seems to be a perpetual "Guard Rail Damage Ahead" sign there...!!!!! :hilarious:
On my way home last Thursday, about halfway down the road, a small pickup had slid off the road and hit a tree. It wasn't bad 'cause the driver was out of the truck and talking to another driver who had stopped. I've seen so many accidents along that road, but, speeds are generally low because of the nature of the road, so accidents, generally, are never too serious along it.
As a matter of fact, I can't remember the last time I heard of a fatality involving an accident on that stretch of road.

Also...
See my previous post regarding the guard rail...!!! ;):)

Went downstairs to see what hubs was cursing about -- it was a fly he was trying to swat, and he is convinced the fly has Zika and is going to kill us. Even the dog came upstairs to escape the drama.

Mosquitoes fly out here -- do they not fly out in your neck of the woods? ;)
You lost me. Sorry.

You were talking about a fly. I thought that it was mosquitoes were the insect that carries Zika.

Last time we were that way was about 2-3 years ago on our way home from Disney. There was an accident on 95 so we avoided it by going a bit inland. Stopped at a Carabba’s there. I think it was a Carraba’s.
