Good grief... they expect you to come there, but they won't come up... sounds great. My first husband was from Chicago (Oak Park).. but my in-laws were/are wonderful people. In fact, I'll be making time to see my Ex's sister in law while I'm in Florida at thanksgiving. I guess I'm lucky!

She left out the part about one year when they went and stayed with the sister, whose children went through all her stuff and threw it around the room, and the parents didn't seem to think it was a big deal. Hence them now staying in a hotel when they go there.

Oak park....I've heard that name often. Is that near Dundee/Elgin? My mom grew up in Dundee and all her family lived in Pingree Grove, Dundee, Elgin, McHenry, Batavia, etc. We used to go every other year when I was a kid to visit all the cousins. I know my mom mentioned Oak Park, but I don't remember if we actually ever went there....if it's in the area, we probably did though.

Good Grief, I wouldn't want to go there either... sigh... and this is why I'm so hard on my stepson who lives with us.... be a good person!

Oak Park is closer to downtown Chicago, on the NW side... you may have heard of it because it's famous for several Frank Lloyd Wright houses... and it's Ernest Hemingway's birthplace.

@Cesar R M , I hope all your family is safe! They said on the news that Willa is supposed to hit Mexico today, and I know you said where YOU are it's safe, but they said it's still a Cat 5 right now....so make sure you have supplies for several days so if deliveries of groceries and gas and such can't get to your area, you're still ok. Be safe!

DD and I have spent the last 2 days buying crafting supplies for all our Disney projects. My coffee table looks like a craft store exploded on it. And we FINALLY found red and white polka dot material to make a dress for DD...and maybe one for me, too. We'll see. We have to find a pattern first, and give my MIL puppy eyes to help make it.

Was there maybe a theater there? My mom used to go with her friends to some theater in Chicago area. She LOVED musicals. So they would go get dinner and see a show once in a while. I KNOW I heard Oak Park come out of her mouth on more than one occassion, but I'm not sure how it fit in.

I think so.. but it's been 24 years since I lived there, so I can't say for sure. It is however a beautiful suburb... that I do remember!

T is probably too old for the characters now.. but I plan on checking off most of these events between Thurs and Friday... with plenty of MagiQuest time as well.

I hope he loves it!! Not “out of town”, but at least something during a break in games and practices.

Sounds like the area that all the John Hughes movies were made.

I think he’ll be shocked! Just hope it’s a more excited reaction than the surprise Disney trip. 🤣

I just received this text from my mom, they’re at the airport heading to Florida. Apparently ran into a friend of mine.. daughter is in T’s class. This is not going to help the “I’m the only kid who hasn’t been to Disney this year!😂
We’re definetly in the minority of our friends and fam in 2018. Oh well. I’m sticking to my Disney break!!!
