My ds is building his own computer. He finally got all the parts and put it together 2 days ago. Problem is, he is using an old Windows program (might be 8) in the hard drive and he says it is in a trouble shooting loop. So now we will have to buy Windows 10 which is what I was trying to avoid.

My 4th grade teacher made us all write the word ain't on a strip of paper. Then we put them all in a paper bag, followed her outside to a pit she dug that morning and watched her bury the bag in the pit.

4th grade year was interesting.
Jimmy Fallon started one week on Twitter #MyWeirdTeacher. I think this qualifies.

I was allowed to walk to school by myself. ok it was a whole 6 houses to pick up the next kid in the group.
I HAD to walk to school by myself. I remember my first day of kindergarten...my parents had just separated and we were living in the BIG town, 40 miles away, with a friend of my mom's. The school was temporary or something...it wasn't a regular school building. It was a bunch of old trailer houses that had been converted into classrooms. So mom sent us out the door to walk to school...it was just down the street from where we were living really, but to my 5 year old mind, it seemed like a long way. And there was a teenager walking on the other side of the street, all in black, and my brother told me he saw the kid had a HUGE knife, and maybe he was going to kill me with it and I went running back into the house crying that this boy had a knife and was going to murder me. My mom was FURIOUS with me that now she had to walk me to school and she had other things to do and that I was going to have to get used to walking by myself, because she sure wasn't going to walk me every day or pick me up.
Then we moved to the smaller town and the school was right behind my house and I walked with my best friend every day from first grade on. My kids' school was right across the street from our house and I would never have let them walk by themselves in kindergarten! When they got into around 4th grade, I'd let them walk if there was a reason I couldn't bring them...like, there was once when I slid and banged my toe into a cabinet and the nail almost came off and I couldn't wear a shoe for a couple of weeks and it was in January. So I couldn't get to the school....but even then, DD's best friend's mom walked right past every day, so she watched out for them. But here, they wouldn't LET kids leave without a parent to pick them up until something like 3rd grade. They had to wait until someone came to get them before they were allowed to leave.

Butternut Squash and Black Bean Chili - low sodium recipe
1/4 cup olive oil
2 onions, chopped
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper and 1 green or yellow bell pepper, seeded and chopped
2 jalapeños, seeded and minced ( I only use one)
3 15 oz cans black beans, drained and rinsed (I used no salt)
1-2 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes (unsalted)
1 cup chicken broth (no salt)
2 Tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (adds a unique layer)
2 Tablespoons chili powder
1 Tablespoon cumin
1-2 cups butternut squash, peeled, seeded, and diced
1-2 cups sweet potato, peeled and diced
salt and pepper to taste, if not making a low-sodium version

I make this in my Insta pot. I saute' the onions and garlic in the olive oil about 3 mts. until tender. Add garlic and cook for 1 mt. Add bell peppers and cook for about 3 mts.
Transfer to slow cooker if you didn't make in an Insta pot. Stir in the beans, tomatoes, broth, cocoa powder, and all the spices. Stir. Layer the squash and potato on top. Cover and cook on low for 6 hours or high 4-5 hours.
Season with salt and pepper if needed.
