All - if anyone here is looking for a scary novel as we head into October/Halloween season, I cannot recommend The Cabin at the End of the World by Justin Tremblay highly enough. It is so well written that you feel like you are in the room with these characters, and believe me, you do NOT want to be in the room with these characters, with what they have to go through in this book. But it is a really amazing horror novel that even Stephen King has endorsed. I just loved this. Reviews are all pretty much amazing, but I would not read them before reading the book, because they all give spoilers, and it is best reading this with as little info as possible.

Scary novels or movies and me do not get along! The Shining was the scariest movie I ever saw, and that was enough for me. I don't even like the "Scary Movie" series. Just don't have the stomach for that sort of stuff. The upcoming movies we are planning to see are "The Nutcracker", the new Mary Poppins film, and the new Harry Potter film. Pretty tame and no scary dream stuff.;)

My dh got some extremely good news at work and some not so good. Not so good news is he may be back on nights after the holidays, mixed news he's going to be working 6 days a week most weeks until then, great news he's not getting sent some place horrendous:joyfull:

Yay!! I hope you guys celebrate that with a fancy dinner or something before he starts that 6 day a week cadence!

Thank you I don't like the nights but I'll take it over over seas:joyfull:

This is like when you have to tell your parent you hit the mailbox with the car, so you tell them you're pregnant first, that way they are relieved that you *only* hit the mailbox :hilarious::hilarious: He likely wasn't even on the list for over seas :hilarious::hilarious:

Looks like another one of my plays is about to open in Columbus, Ohio. They never bother telling the playwright, lol. Thank God for google alerts.

If anyone is in Columbus and wants comps, lemme know. I can probably get you in. However, these photos are not making me have a ton of confidence in this particular production. It looks like the production budget was fifteen cents. But hey, ya never know:

Do you know how your dad is today @dryerlintfan ? When do you leave for Disney?

He came through surgery fine! They removed a few clots and a couple others have shrunken with treatment. They're going to keep a close eye on him, and he's hopefully going back to regular hospital again later today!

We leave Sunday morning. We'll be at the airport at 5 am!!

Oh I was so mad at him for this. Not one smile!! Today is their run and 50 yard dash race. He’s mad because he wanted red UA sweatbands to embellish his look.. not the gray Nike. We had an argument on the way to school :(. I REFUSE to feel bad!! I’m not. I just wish he wouldn’t have acted like that.. like a brat, seriously he was acting like a brat over what I bought for him.

He was so excited and so determined to win the race, woke up in such a great mood, jumped out of bed. Then he saw the new bands on his bathroom counter. I knew he wanted red but I bought the gray because he could possibly reuse them in a sport, he wouldn’t be able to reuse the red. I’m angry that I even bought him anything at all after his reaction this morning.

I'm sorry he was ungrateful. That is really rough. I've been dealing with that a bit with A because her dad gives her a lot more things than I do. He might not be old enough to truly understand practicality. I wasn't until I was older and now as an adult I appreciate how practical my mom was with gifts.

Whew! That is a relief. Prayers for continued positive strides.

Thanks. It was so out of character for him! I think that’s why I got so angry.. I just couldn’t believe the pouting. He didn’t want to wear them, I made him.. and he cried. All because they weren’t the specific red UA bands.

Two days ago I gave him a new Real Madrid jersey that he’s been wanting, it’s made with recycled ocean plastics- which we both thought was really neat. I didn’t have a name put on because of the extra cost. He overheard me say $30 for a name.. and he said “Mom, that’s crazy. I don’t need Bale’s name. I’m going to write on my Christmas list that I don’t need Ronaldo’s name on a Juve jersey either, $30 for a name is nonsense.”

I laughed and was glad that he said that and realized it. But then today to meltdown over gray totally unnecessary sweat bands? I couldn’t believe it was the same kid.

Don’t worry about A, I know it’s heartbreaking now, but she’s realize as she gets older. Hang in there!!

Thank you for that. I hope you're right. She gets new toys a lot at his house and candy and cookies and fruit snacks, etc. So when she asks for it and I say no she says "I want to go to daddy's house" and it hurts my heart.

I can empathize with you there. It’s been a rough couple of weeks here.. I like my new job, I know that it’s better in the long run and I’ll eventually get to spend more time with T, but so far this week (outside of 2 hours on Wednesday) I haven’t seen him besides school drop off and then at 10-11pm carrying him to the car, asleep/half asleep, after waking him up to take him home.
Yesterday morning while getting ready for school, he says “I really want you to get married. I’d like to have a dad.” My heart shattered into a million pieces.

It’s not easy on kids or parents.. but overall there’s so many more good moments than the heart breaking ones. It doesn’t make those moments hurt any less though. You’re in my thought girl!!!

I'm so sad when kids act ungrateful. My niece does this and it makes me want to grab what I bought and take it back!
