Been a blessed couple months for my DD.

Being sent first by her University to to attend a convention held at Disney and then scholarship’d to attend a Disney sponsored conference for data analytics. She is in Grad school for computer science engineering and her Heart` is on the analytics side. 2/3 of the conference was Disney employees from around the country. Guest speakers were famous people in related fields and works. Excellent keynote speakers.

Upon her return to work at the University yesterday her presence was requested about an hour away today to attend a special data meeting. The invite came to her directly by email and her boss knew nothing of it. Upon arrival she recognized a few of the 11 people, important University people. *thinking to herself why am I here* She then hears a familiar voice. Her former bosses boss and that lady liked her from the day she started in 2015. Apparently the woman heard through the grapevine that my DD was in a Masters program at a different University than where they work. The training session today was Google employees training the upper tier on data mining and analytics. The woman wanted my DD there to listen to what Google had to say. My DD has been promoted twice since hired and really within that department there is no where but her bosses job to advance to. She got the feeling today she is likely to get plucked to move up into the more elite end of the Univerity staff.

It’s been an awesome few weeks for her. I’m. Going to try and pull some of the conference photos. It was held in the Main Convention Center at the Contemporary and I’ll post a few in my trip report. After day one that evening they sent the attendees on a special adventure.
That's really cool! So is she doing a masters program at one university and works at another?

So today is a special day. Our 38th Anniversary. We already talked this morning and other than a harrowing experience driving through a flooded road last night, DH is doing well. Nine more days until our Disney trip. I cannot wait. We gonna need some down time! ;)
Aw, that's so sad that you are apart on your anniversary, but great that he is doing what he is doing. Happy anniversary! Will you celebrate at Disney?

Very sad day in the Netherlands today. I have never seen these in the US before, but here, we have these special bikes that have a kind of trailer on them. It's an electric bike with a trailer, and daycares use them for fieldtrips to parks, etc. This morning, a daycare worker was transporting 5 kids to an elementary school, when apparently the breaks stopped working at a train crossing. An eye witness said he heard her call for help, and the bike was just charging and she couldn't stop, went through the barrier arms and was caught by a train. 4 of the kids died, the 5th child and the daycare worker are in critical condition, and it's "concerning"....they may not make it. Two of the deaths plus the one in critical condition were from the same family. There were two 4 year olds, a 6 year old and an 8 year old who died, and the one hospitalized is 11. So so sad. Daycares all over the country have opted not to use those bikes anymore.

Omg. This is so gut wrenchingly sad. Wow.

I tried to legitimately catch up but failed. Sorry guys.

Update: they moved my dad back into critical care. Blood clots in his lungs and abdomen. He'll likely need another surgery to deal with them. I tried to call him but he was confused and drugged up and hung up on me. I almost flew home this morning but the doctors said he's stable and I can't use vacation days for this unless he's really really critical. *sigh*
