What a weekend! Got the boy's stuff into his new digs. His roomies seem really nice. Apparently, they have struck up an agreement. He cooks dinner, they will clean up. Since my boy loves to cook, he thinks he got the best end of the bargain.

Sunday. Might not have been my most responsible parenting day. One that has to be up at 6AM on a school morning. One who has his first day of college, and mostly auditions the next day. But, we bought the tickets long before we realized it was day before start of classes. And it was wonderful.

It was an amazing night at Ravinia. And, both my kids got along with each other super great.
My videos kinda stunk. So enjoy this from the previous night.

The man is super human. To play trombone like that, and trumpet like that. Wow. And, to top it off, he does this circular breathing bit. Just over 7 minutes. But he had my kids pumped when he first came out with a trumpet raised in one hand, and a trombone raised in the other.

(also not my pic).
Great night, and had the girl home by 11, and the boy on campus by midnight, at which time he went straight to a practice room. There must have been some magic there, DS made the jazz band! He is looking forward to playing and touring with them. First gig Sunday.

I had a feeling you would;) Do you have plans to go with the extra day?

Nope, no plans. This was just a spur of the moment decision, when I saw all the meetings getting cancelled already for Friday. Told hubs when I came home from work today. We both looked at each other and said (almost simultaneously), "Oh no--that's 4 days we gotta spend with each other??!" :hilarious: :hilarious:

So, today was the first day, after 14 consecutive days, that we didn’t hit 100 degrees or better (at the official stations at the airport and Camp Mabry). :(;)
This summer’s been pretty good and toasty, but, nothin’ compared to some years past...2011 for example...

During 2011 — the year with a record-setting 90 days of triple-digit temperatures — the first 100-degree day came as early as May 25. In July and August that summer, 29 of each month’s 31 days saw maximum temperatures of 100 degrees or more.

And, we tied our record high temp from Sept. 5th 2000 of 112, on Aug. 28th 2011...!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious::D;)

@figmentfan423 , I decided to take off Friday as an extra vacation day. Got to work this morning, and most meetings scheduled for Friday had already been cancelled--guess a lot of people wanted to extend the holiday weekend. So I'm going to have 4 days off! :joyfull:
Lucky. I wish I could, but my team is swamped with work. I'm taking a half day. Going to come home and take care of some stuff, and then go hang out with my friends, then Saturday taking care of some more stuff (after sleeping until noon) and then I have to get my family from the airport that night.

My dad before I left very sternly told me how to drive their new 2017 Enclave. Note: I used to drive an SUV, and I drove their 2012 Enclave, not to mention I've driven to the airport more than a few times. But he still tells me "Now, that's a very big car. So drive it very slowly." Me: "So 85 mph then?" Mom was amused. :hilarious:

One of the partners today told me that it happened again (only the second time I’ve ever heard of it since I started in the business in 1980) yesterday evenin’ at a meetin’ he was in with a new client...
The space the walls of a home take up should not be counted as livable footage that they should be billed for.:cyclops:
He, carefully and politely, explained to them that our contract (as do about 99 out of 100 other firms ;)) is based on total covered area...which includes the walls...!!!!! :hilarious:

Yes, you may not be able to “live” in the actual physical space the walls occupy, but, they kinda’ hold everything up, are filled with expensive lumber, wiring, etc., have roof over them, plus slab, floor trusses, etc., under them, and it all, pretty much, protects you from the elements...
Bonus!!! We don’t charge for any of the actual air space you “live” in...just the stuff that creates it...!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious:
