I always had an interest in the Amish and how they lived. There are some near where we live. They installed our Amish made swingset. We see loads of Mennonites everywhere around town though. At first when we moved here it was weird, but now it is just normal. They shop like the rest of us.

For some unexplainable reason, a tv commercial jingle popped in my head this morning.
I don't think it was about selling a product but I feel like it was presenting a charity or something.
Maybe one of you can help me recall the specifics.
I recall the jingle went:
"O, that's the way it is! Truly, oolee, oo-lee-oo"
That' s the way it is! Truly, oolee, oo-lee-oo"
Spoken: "When someone shares with me, I feel glad!"

This is a weird flashback. Maybe very late 60s or early 70s?
Does this ring any bells with any of you?
Nope. Sorry.

We saw a few buggies, and several people walking. There was a group of teens, traditional white/black clothes.. but all with Under Armor and Nike backpacks. I thought that was odd, but maybe it’s not.

I don’t know where people shop in those towns. I’m not joking when I say that the only stores we saw were Family Dollar, Dollar General, a John Deere store, auto body/repair shops, a drug store, and a few small restaurants and small gas stations... and these were all few and far between.

I told Tristan that we were going to find a “country restaurant” for lunch and dinner. He said “We’re going to eat at Cracker Barrel for both meals? Awesome! I love Cracker Barrel.”

“No bud, not a chain restaurant a local fresh and homemade food restaurant. A real country restaurant.”

“Oh. But isn’t Cracker Barrel a real country restaurant?”

😂

The attention to detail is not lost on me -- that first photo with the greenery & floral accents in the white napkin really caught my eye. (Well . . . delicious food first, of course, then the accents . . . ;) )

Yep, we’re not even remotely close to “hoity toity” ;) folk, at all, but, it sure is fun to live kinda’ like that (yet, still be and act humble :)) for a week every, now and again...!!! :)

More Amish Country and a not-Amish farm visit in the middle of it. We bought more produce and watermelon here, also a beautiful antique store in a barn, but I didn’t take photos of that.

Great stuff!!! :)

The hogs remind me of my grandparents farm. Both sides had them at one point, but, only moms side had them when we were around.
I remember my pop tellin’ us about one time when they were butcherin’ a hog on the back porch. He tossed a blood-soaked rag off the porch and a hound leaped, caught it mid-air, and swallowed it whole...after that, he didn’t do that anymore...!!!!! :hilarious:
And, I’m Pretty sure American Pickers would be interested in that Pepsi signage...!!! ;):)

Oh good grief.

I don't know too much about Uni, but do you actually need a rental car there? Because you could get a Lyft XL to take you from WDW to Uni, or between your hotels for cheaper than renting a car. Then you can get a Super Shuttle back to the airport. Might be worth looking into.

I personally only use my Memory Maker (I get it as part of my AP) for sharing a few photos on Instagram from rides, and then I take my own photos, but...if this is something you can only do once every few years, isn't it worth getting all the photos possible during your trip, especially if you're not really a photographer yourself?

Have you looked into renting points for Poly? You might still be far enough out to get some availability, and points at a studio tend to be cheaper than getting a hotel room.
Agree, she could use David's vacation rental.
Instead of paying 3,000+ for a week, for a big 3 room hotel room. we only paid like $1,500 using DVC points.
