Depositing 75% for future college and spending 25%. I think this will be the approach every week.
Sounds like a smart plan! I remember when I was about 13, I had gotten a lot of money for my birthday over the years and I was not a spender. I told my mom I was going to save my money until I was a senior in high school and then go on a shopping spree and I would bring my friends Amy and Nikki with me. Nikki had very good taste and could tell what looked nice, and Amy was a lot like me...a bit frumpy and shy and clueless about style, but we were the 3 musketeers. We were always together. My mom said no way was she letting me go shopping with Nikki, as she found Nikki's clothing way too provocative. Nikki and Amy were both LDS...neither dressed at all provocatively, but Nikki was tall, thin, and fit, which apparently equated to provocative in my mother's book...nice girls don't have cleavage!!! I ended up saving most of my money, though I did use it to buy my prom dress and a letterman jacket. Saving for college is always a good plan!! I certainly don't regret saving my money, but it does make me laugh when I think about that conversation with my mom.

Your state is not only way that has a sales tax Free Weekend in August. Wisconsin had a tax free weekend from August 1st through August 5th. I didn't find anything for my self. The Wisconsin Sales Tax Weekend was mor

Keep in mind that is the items listed were limited.

Clothing was listed, but it had to be $75.00 or less. Sale price for Computer must by $750.00 or less. School Computer supplies and School supplies were the final two things list.

I didn't buy anything extra today except for some dog food (in MA, dog food is taxed :banghead: ).

Part of the problem this year with the sales tax free weekend, is that although merchants were pushing the advertising on this all week long, the Governor waited until the 11th hour (YESTERDAY . . . ) to actually sign the bill. So many of us assumed he was NOT going to sign this year, and I didn't really pay much attention.

Although I went into a few stores today, I couldn't really focus (I'm rarely a spontaneous buyer--I like to plan out what I want--having done some prior comparison price research) and decided to give any extra purchases more thought. I might buy something tomorrow--we'll see.

Totally agree on Maelstrom!!!! And my kids are very upset that EEA was closed, though we aren't exactly coaster people. DD is heading that way, though.
That tends to be my thoughts on it as well. In all it's years I never saw Maelstrom as anything other then a walk on. Either one actually, but, Energy took on a lot of people all at once so it really wasn't a walk on for many of those years. I went on Maelstrom because it was something to do and the kids always wanted something to ride on. But, it never made any sense to me, perhaps I wasn't well enough versed on Norway, so I was not even a little upset when they canned it and went with Frozen. Energy, initially was nothing more then a huge commercial for Exxon and was lacking in any real humor or anything worth watching. I have stated before that I always enjoyed Ellen and especially her comic timing so I went mostly for that show after they changed from it's Exxon Sadness. Exxon was running it during the Valdez era all the while making it sound like they were saving the world, one barrel at a time. After they left Ellen's Energy was a good opportunity to rest the feet, cool down and relax... Stupid Judy.
