Aren't babies meant to cry? Though I agree with making your own baby food. Who knows what chemicals are in those sold in stores.
Sign language stops the crying because you know what the baby wants. It was soooo great!!! The first 4 months were a little trickier ....but no, now “they” say that babies aren’t supposed to cry themselves to sleep etc. I loved making T’s baby food.. I’m not sure if that’s why he’s not a picky eater, but I like to think that it is. There was so many great ideas and different foods other than the standard/traditional “baby foods”, and of course I felt better that it was all fresh and organic.. or at least fresh until I froze it.
Interesting. I never knew babies could sign. Obviously they can't do it when they pop out. But do they keep the knowledge of it? Like does your kid remember any of it?
My sister was 10 when my brother was born. Thought he was coming out with clothes on.
There's actually quite a few cultures around the world that naturally do what we call "attachment parenting" and their children rarely cry. We did a lot of the hippie parenting stuff too, like babywearing, baby led weaning (instead of making baby food, you just feed them what you're eating and they'll eat when they're ready), extended breast feeding (although she quit at 15 months, i was planning on going to 2 years), etc. Now we do gentle parenting, which is where you still have rules and guidelines and you're still there parent, but when the kid is upset you try to help them identify and work through their emotions. You're not supposed to bribe then in gentle parenting, and we bribe her quite a bit, lol.
Babies can pick up signs really early, but it's not the same as American Sign Language. Baby signing usually starts with milk and that's helpful because they can then tell you when they're hungry. A started the milk have sign when she was about 2.5 months old, whereas she wasn't able to communicate she was hungry verbally until at least a year later.
