The cut off now (per USSF) is Jan 1 to December 31st. Previously the rules always had a cut off, but it favored the school year.. usually August 1st. Baseball switched last year to a May cut off.. but allowed kids to play up.

My Brother and I both have summer birthdays, my sister has a late September (youngest in her grade), and none of us ever played below our grade level. But, I can understand the “late birthdays” having a choice.

My son’s birthday is mid April. So he will be one of the oldest “2010” kids, and be playing with the youngest 2011 kids (1st graders). Not allowing them to play up, forcing 3rd graders to repeat a 3rd year of an intro level, is nothing short of a horrible mistake.

It works in Club soccer because they are in single birth years.. not 2 combined.

I’m leaving the decision up to him, but we may withdraw from the team.. something I never thought would happen.
Yikes. This change totally stinks. Bad move.

Like you I was caught up in the Vietnam war and it took many years before I could visit the wall and see names I knew. The best we can do to honor those who did not return is live our lives and remember our brothers in arms and not just on Memorial Day. It does make me sad to see how commercilized Memorial Day has become and few people seem to know the true meaning. Unfortunately wars are fought by the young run by the old and forgotten by the many
I taught my kids what Memorial Day is for. I have great respect for those that served.

I’m going to throw caution to the wind and post the football photos of T when in Kindergarten..

Practice.. look how big the shoulder pads were on him 😂

He was #20.. definitely the shrimp on the team!! The kid behind him isn’t even wearing a Helmet, and still so much bigger than T, with his helmet on. That’s who ended up laying him out.
This was before a growth spurt the next year..

...but he never gave up.

Post game. Last photo ever taken of me and my son wearing a football uniform. :(

I know!! I think the should pads and helmet weighed more than him 😂😂😂
I don’t miss putting those on!

It’s funny how he went from being one of the shortest kids to one of the tallest, within such a short time period. Should have waited another year before letting him play football.. may have been a different experience for him... but, I like to think it toughened him up. ;)

I too took a nap today. Migraine. We had some bad storms come through today. It's gone now, but the storms were bad. I was woken up at one point by a crash of lightning outside my window. It was loud. Of course, me being me, I double checked that I didn't need to go to the basement and then went back to sleep.
I thought about you when I saw the flooding. Glad your area was ok. That town had bad flooding a couple of years ago.

I can’t roll with this. I want every parents/kids who are impacted by this stupid rule to fight it this year, to demand that their kid play up if the kid wants to.
I hate even using the word “up” because it’s the natural progression. He signed up for SAY Wings, which is what he was supposed to do, and then was moved down to SAY Passers.
Passers is 2 years of play, not 3 (Fall would be his 3rd year). It’s also a Size 3 soccer ball.. my kid has been playing with a Size 4 since October, because that’s regulation for his age now. Now he’s supposed to go backwards to a smaller ball and smaller goal? I can’t even imagine going to the store and intentionally buying him a smaller sized soccer ball than what he’s already been playing with. It’s not even logical.

The organization can change their rules to Birth Year, it’s nonsensical in a 2 year spread in the younger ages, but that’s their choice if they want to harm youth soccer in the long run.. but for kids who are currently playing- there should be an exception for them to progress on the same road that they’ve been..they’re not starting this way from entering into the sport, they just got stuck in the middle after already playing for a few years. It’s just not right to do that to any kid. Especially not to the kids who are finally getting out of Passers and Lollipop. There will also be kids, 1st graders, who will be stuck in Lollipop for a 3rd year.. with 3-4 year olds. It’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Many of those 1st graders will gr bored and frustrated, and end up quitting, I can not believe the contrary. My son would never have his love of soccer in 1st grade, or been able to go to Premier in 2nd grade, if he would have still been playing lollipop in 1st grade. I feel sorry for all of the affected 1st graders as well. Some will be playing with a 3rd grader (any 3rd grader born after January 1, so definitely not ‘late birthdays’), and some will be playing with Kindergarten and Preschoolers. 2 whole birth years encompass 3 school ‘grades’/years.

On a related note, I’m also waiting to find out how this will impact high school teams. Will 8th graders be playing Fall High School ball when they don’t even know what high school they’re going to? How will that work?! Are the kids who are held back going to be behind everyone else when they reach 8th grade? I really want answers to these questions.
The ones playing already should be grandfathered in. It should only apply to new players.

Ellicott City, yeah. They've been hit hard twice now. There are businesses there that will likely never reopen unfortunately. Some of the photos were just unbelieveable with cars floating away.

They did confirm today that one person died in the flooding. Tragic.

Pandora was interesting. I liked it better at night even-though all the lights were not on yet. Flights of Passage was wonderful except the lame pre-show and I still don't quite understand why Avatar has a land. The restraints are supposed to release you but mine never did so they had to do that by hand. Which took 0.2 seconds.

My mom and sister went on the river ride and didn't really like it. Too short. But the queues are huge. Like they can almost fit another ride in there and directions are needed to find out where the rides are. The tree was good. Would rather watch that then the castle show. I had to leave MK the first night because I couldn't handle all the people on Main Street. Which we went up to the top of the Contemporary and best spot ever.

I also went on Frozen for the first time. Nice but has tons of dark spots where nothing is in the ride. Guardians seems to be coming along. You could see steel rising. You could tell Epcot was crowded: Figment and Nemo had about an hour sometimes, and Mission: Space Orange had 90 minutes.
My son had an issue with the FOP seat not releasing either. He was in number 14. Dh remembered. He is weird that way.

Did you know that you can modify them at any time? Sometimes when in the park you can get ones that weren’t available before. I’m constantly modifying and adding FPs.. but with FoP that’s probably near impossible.. we weren’t able to get one either. I think the best way for FoP is rope drop if a FP can’t be found.
I was constantly modifying. It was also great to get the extra fp’s when the first 3 were used. That was how we got fp’s for TSMM.
