I agree with you completely. I haven’t said kiddo’s team name, and I have done an “edit” and drawn over the crest on any photo I’ve posted of him when in uniform, before I posted the photo.

I know you weren’t referring to size of the areas, and I realized that my response sounded like you did, so I edited it after I reread it.
I brought it up because I thought maybe people think there’s only a couple of competitive clubs in this geographical area.. there’s not, there’s many of them. Trying to find a youth player- in any sport- would be extremely tough. Their names and/or head shots are not posted publicly in tourneys, or on the club sites themselves.. only the team name. You have to be a member or a tryout participant to see the actual names on the team sites. (At least for baseball and soccer, can’t speak for the rest, but I’m assuming they’re similar)

Beyond the sports thing, I agree that a photo and city alone is not enough to go on. There’s just too many people. I don’t think anyone could see a photo of my niece and figure out where she is going to be...and I don’t think anyone can know where your grandchildren are because of your photo.

I’ll also add that I think the “kidnapping for ransom” monsters are a lot fewer than we think, or at least would want to be sure that there is a ransom to be paid. I don’t have it, and it would be tough to figure out if anyone had it, on a site like this. That’s a lot of risk for little reward, as you said.

Yea, the whole ransom thing never even really crossed my mind, as it harkens back to older times (and it probably wasn't even as rampant as movies have made it seem over the years). And yes, I'm familiar with things like the Lindbergh baby kidnapping.
It's the sicko aspect that concerns me way more, but, yes, I'm still trying to figure out how some family pics, first names only, a general location of residence, etc., is gonna' create any major safety issues for myself or my family.
It would be so much trouble to go through, and to what end...?!

ETA...
And, I also have absolutely NO problem with other members here not posting pics of themselves or family, not saying what state, or even part of the country/world they live in, etc.
It's all a personal choice, and whatever kind of personal info an individual member is comfortable providing, or not.

What year was that one. My first new car had almost the same body style. Not a Chevy, but, 1970 Buick Skylark, 350 ci. Gold with a white vinyl top. Like below but with the white top. Didn't have the bent bumper though. I got 110K out of it and for that time, located in the winter wonderland of Vermont, that was not bad. Rust got to it before anything mechanical started to show up. I bought it right after I got home from Vietnam, dated my future wife in it, took it on our honeymoon, brought our first and second child home from the hospital in it. We always thought we should get it bronzed and placed on our mantle, except we didn't have a mantle at the time. Finally traded it in in 1977, wish I had kept it, I loved that car.

THNX for the warning, my boys like bowling but not 22pp worth:eek::eek::eek::eek:
Actually had a full park day yesterday too. Went to AK, but our fp’s in the AM were useless. EE was closed temporarily for hours. Too cold for Kali. Did do FoP. Everyone but ds enjoyed it. Apparently when he said he didn’t like simulator rides, he wasn’t kidding. He looked ill when it was over. On top of that his seat back wouldn’t disengage so we needed to wait for a CM to let him out. We did eat at Satuli. I got their sidea. They were very good. We rested in the rv for a bit and them went to Epcot in the evening. We did colortopia again. So fun! Walked around the countries and then watched Illuminations. The weather was fine. First sunny morning today. On line for SDMT now. :)
