OK, no argument there. But being proud of your historic heritage and being a product of your current heritage are completely compatible. Just like it was when their ancestors ventured out, with far more hardships then more current ones did, and landed them in the cultures that they now claim as their own. I still need to know why people cannot be proud to be American and not as a secondary label. One can be an American of (fill in the blank) descent, if anyone asks.

I am gonna go ahead and drill it down even more. My daughter is the first native Texan in my family, nevermind our 3rd born in the U.S. :p

To be serious though, I feel like a lot of times I identify myself more as an American than the people I interact with that that were actually born here.

It has been one heck of a week and a half. So my Memphis business trip was supposed to start Monday the 2nd. But due to bad weather in Dallas, all flights were cancelled so we left a day later on the 3rd. Once we got there it was great. We stayed at the Hampton Inn right on Beale street so we did not have to drive anywhere to have fun. The trip was more about interacting with the entire leadership team for my department, bringing them in from Dallas, Glasgow, and those located in Memphis. We did a bit of work, but it was more about getting to know one another. This equaled lots of late nights, drinks, and karaoke. We also got to do some sightseeing together as a group, such as going to Sun Studio (where people like Elvis and Johnny Cash got their start), Stax Studio (one of the homes of soul music), and Graceland. We also went to the National Civil Rights Museum which I thought was great (although a bit sad at times). One of our last outings (besides a bar) was when we had a couple suites at the Memphis - SMU college basketball game. It was funny to watch the Glasgow crew get into a sport they do not really watch.

So we wrapped up our trip with meetings on Friday and were going to fly back home that evening...or so we thought. Once again, weather went crazy in Dallas with snow and such so all flights were cancelled. We rebooked for Saturday afternoon and headed to another Hampton near the airport. Unfortunately, when we woke up the next morning, flights were bring cancelled again. This is when we said screw flying, lets drive back! We we rented 3 SUV's, divided into groups, and hit the road back to Dallas. The drive was about 7 hours but luckily it went by quicker than that. We spent most of the time texting the other cars and sending each other stupid videos. Finally, Saturday night at around 8PM i was home. Although not before we almost spun out on the icy road as we just got into Dallas. Luckily my colleague that was driving saved us!

So I decided to take off Monday and Tuesday this week for DW's birthday. We were able to go to the Dallas Stars hockey game on Tuesday night, which was great. We had great seats and won in overtime.

Finally, yesterday I headed back into the office and back to the grind. Then mother nature went crazy again last night, put down about 3 inches of snow, and closed down my daughter's day care today and all other schools for everyone. So again, not office for me today. Which leaves me to where I am now...sitting here...typing this.

Uh, I need them more than from time to time...haha. Like yesterday. Twice. Inhalers don't work that well for me, so if it doesn't work, I have to start on the nebs.

If it's going into pnuemonia, then it's bacterial. Which means it would be contagious. I've never heard of bronchitis not being contagious. What happens is you start with the allergies, and then you get congested, and the congestion sits in your chest and gets infected. I've never hear of bronchitis not being contagious. Either way, it's best to stay away from others.

My dad had bronchitis a few years ago, and the doctor prescribed him an inhaler. Unlike his wife and daughter, my father does not have asthma, so he'd never used one before. It was fun watching him try...:joyfull:

My DD never had a problem using her inhaler, she was little and I think that helps, they just listen to the instructions and puff and don't have worries of doing it wrong.

Inhalers are fine and dandy for those with mild to moderate asthma. I, unfortunately, have severe asthma. When my pediatrician diagnosed me (which it was amazing she even picked up on it; a lot of doctors miss cough-variant asthma), she immediately gave me an inhaler but also made me get a nebulizer. It was a good thing too. The year after I was diagnosed, I had two bouts of bronchitis, one of which turned into pneumonia. When I was in elementary school, I could pretty much function off an inhaler, and if I needed a neb, Mom was 2 minutes away and she could bring it. By the time I was in middle school, I had nebs at school, but my asthma went from being cough variant to being more textbook, so it was different. An inhaler only works for me if it's 1. Just a controller or 2. I'm only having mild symptoms. Since I routinely go down to about 50-70% of my personal best, an inhaler a lot of times just doesn't cut it unfortunately. Every asthmatic should have an inhaler, but inhalers alone don't work for every asthmatic unfortunately. I do think nebulizers are a good thing even for moderate asthma sufferers to have. If you get sick, they're just so much more effective than inhalers.

I also put two medications in my nebulizer, albuterol and pulmicort. I don't ever do just albuterol nebs; for some reason, the two medications combined make the difference.

Some of us are proud that our ancestors had the b*lls to leave all they knew behind and come to America to start a new life. It may not matter to you but to some of us our roots run deep in our heritage. Life's path for the future has been shaped by those who have walked it in the past.
for a lot of people, it was .. venture to the new world.. or be discriminated forever.
just like many are fleeing the violence of other countries to risk everything to move to 1st world ones.

Oh my goodness, what a week you had last week with that business trip. Smart decision you all made, too, to rent some cars and drive home. There's no telling how much longer you'd all have to wait for flights. Sounds like you all had fun on the drive home, too! Glad you're back home safe and sound with your family now. :)

Well, I'm up ridiculously early (3:30 a.m.) because I have a cold. I haven't had a cold in about 2 years, at least. Woke up coughing, so just decided to go get some coffee and hang out here for a while. Have to get a 6:30 bus this morning anyway, so I might as well just stay up.

Stopped by Walgreens on the way home last night, to get some cold medicine (one of the nurses at work recommended one that had Advil in it). Haven't bought cold medicine in years, so I go to the aisle with the cold remedies and I find these cards in a slot, for the med. I want. It says you have to take the card up to the pharmacy desk to buy it. Okaaay . . . that's really inconvenient. So I take the stupid card up to the counter and the woman hands me the cold medicine. Then she asks for a driver's license (to purchase cold medicine??) and then I had to sign an electronic keypad to indicate that I wasn't public enemy # 1. I told the pharmacist that I was never getting sick again, because none of this wasted effort was worth it!!!

As we all know, I would like to go back to live in the motherland...aka...somewhere in Europe.
Well not anywhere because I wouldn't live in Russia or the former Soviet Union countries. But that's not happening soon.
