Without pulling out the measuring tape, my memory says the mattress is 22" thick, as is the boxspring.
Add another 4" or so that the frame is off the ground, and we're pretty close to 4' high.

One of these days, I'll get around to buying the lower profile boxspring, which will lower the height 10" or so.
It didn't seem so high in the store! ;)
I feel sorry for you, id prefer a low level bed.
how the hell would I do the "Shamu" sideways or the Olympic triple somersault when I'm about to die of sleepiness if the bed was too tall?.

*edit*
for those who dont know what "the shamu sideways" is..

the sideways twist is at 0:34
and the "sideway" is at 0:38

I grew up in a GM family. I barely remember my pop trading in his '57 Chevy (he previously owned a '55 Chevy) for a '64 Olds F-85, shortly before we moved to NoCal in '68. The only other Olds they ever bought though was the aforementioned '86 Delta 88 with the high output motor.
Right now my folks own a late model Honda Pilot, that old '70 Chevy Camper Special pickup (with just a camper shell on, now), a '96 Chevy pickup with a camper shell, and that '53 Golden Anniversary Ford F-350 truck I've mentioned before, that came from my moms pop. He only ever bought Fords, his whole life, from his first...a '29 Model A ragtop. It deteriorated over the years, but, he completely restored it in the late '60's-early '70's, and kept it 'til the day he passed.

Funny how those patterns go on. I've had my share of GMs and Fords. One Chrysler which we unloaded very quickly.
Dodge Ram Truck. I'd like a Jeep too, the standard old fashioned version whatever that is called. It is on the bucket list.

That's very interesting. It's a little like a hybrid of QS and sit-down You order your food yourself, get your own drinks and cutlery, but then the food is delivered to your table. Hmmm . . . I kinda like that.

We have quite a few quick service restaurants around here that run that same pattern but will take an order if you are not comfortable with the kiosk. Disney has staff on hand to help people along too. (Pecos Bills had Kiosks for a while and it was a nightmare there and they ripped them out. The Contempo at the Contemporary has kiosks now too, some pretty good dinner food.) Ours up here are the new chains but Disney obviously saw how successful that type of system is. By the time we got all of our tableware and drinks the food arrived very quickly thereafter at BOG. If you look at the menu it is all mess hall food type, something they can quickly plate that is already prepared and send it out on a cart. I had the brazed stew dish. It was very good. BOG has already removed several items from their offerings, the steak sandwich for one. The only thing I didn't care for was how loud the restaurant was, poor acoustics though beautiful. It was loud enough that with my hearing issues I couldn't hear my DD across the table. My favorite remains Columbia House in the MK.

Bottom line on the whole HUB discussion, IMO...
10 years from now, most people won't remember what the thing looked like or was made of before, anyway.
So, ultimately, the discussion just doesn't even really matter. What's done is done. :)

Really? I remember the Cherry Trees and the nice sitting areas where we would eat our ice cream on the benches when my kids were young. Same way I never forgot what the Chinese Theater looked like at the 'ole MGM at the end of the street. I remember the pretty fountains that are now flowerpots when you came into Epcot along with how nice it was before the monuments. My DS when young loved the old Fire Department that use to be up in Town Square in the MK. I know it doesn't reverse the changes however for those who saw good imagineering in its glory I don't think most forget what it once was.

My DD doesn't remember the Studios without the Hat and was kinda sad it was going. Today she forwarded me a photo she saw with the full theater exposed from down the street. She loved it and finally understood why I objected to the Hat where it was placed. So sometimes though rarely What is Done, gets undone.

I hope someday I will be able to get a dinner reservation for BOG to give my opinion.
but I agree on Columbia. Fast, nice.. tasty.. and has lovely decour!
love those ship paintings and officer suits!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Hubby is feeling quite a bit better.
His usual weight of 265-270 has dropped recently by about 15-20 lbs, but today he stepped on the scale and weighed 238!

Which would be why we stepped out for a bite.
This would be Sammy's - our favourite greasy spoon restaurant.

I got the Buffalo chicken wrap w/Caesar salad (no croutons!) $7.99

I ate all the salad, and brought home half the wrap.

Hubby deviated from his usual ribs/wing combo, and got this beauty:

You have to admit, that's a pretty sad looking tomato right there. I so considered snagging one of those pieces of bacon though.

Anyway, after 3 days of not eating, he was only able to eat the burger, and added almost all of his fries to my take-home container.

I really like how you stated all this. Agree on all points. As to @donaldtoo , many will forget how the hub once looked, and that's sad. (Others probably won't even care.) However, (even though it's a theme park and not some famous battle scene or other major notable event), history is still history, and worth preserving.

Things will always change, to a point, over time (whether I like it or not), but the quality of the refurb is, IMO, the cheap way out. Actually, there aren't any changes to Main Street USA or the Hub that I like at all.

So, from a historical (and personal preference) I can't just "let it go" and forget nice touches like trees, real grass, benches, and so much more. I'd actually love it if they created a nicely done sign over to a side, that would show the Hub before and after, and they could put their "spin" on it, like "the new streamlined modern look". But at least it would provide some sort of acknowledgement to guests (old and new) that WDW is giving a nod to their "history" of Walt's Main Street USA and Hub. Will never happen. Just wishful thinking . . . :(

I'd be eating at that greasy spoon too, the wrap is how wraps should be stuffed though I'd be ordering something other than Buffalo. What kind of fries are they? I saw the tomato before I got down to your tomato comment.
I wouldn't be eating it either.

If you are going during the New Year you might have some luck after New Years just make those ADRs at your 180 day mark. I don't remember how long you plan to stay at WDW that trip but most schools should resume January 4th. By January 3rd-Sunday afternoon Epcot should be a ghost town. It varies year to year depending on where in the week New Years Day lands. But if you plan correctly you should get into BOG that trip.
