Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
I know what you mean, I am going to take the rest of the Christmas that is on the first floor down soon. I missed seeing my Nutcrackers out last night but there is something about getting the house back to normal too. Back to work for me tomorrow too.

Last week my DD pulled all of her decorations down except for her tree. Knowing her it will be down by midweek. As happy as she is to drag out all the Christmas Decorations she is happy to have everything back in its place.

She really is a - There is a time and place for everything and everything in its place kind of person. We for a long time took everything down the New Years Day inside. As the years went by my Christmas stuff came down December 26th. It was easier to do that when I didn't have to find places for all the stuff Children receive for Christmas.

Southern Winter.. The temperature is expected to get down to 19 degrees tonight with clear skies and no forecast of rain or snow. So... they have already called for a two hour delay in starting school tomorrow anticipating that they will have problems starting the buses. There is no end to the humor available to us yankees down here.

See, I can understand that maybe students to not have warm enough outerwear for temps that cold...buses well they are buses, there are not Southern and Northern Buses, likely your buses in your state were 'born' in the same place ours were and likely if they start up here they are more likely to start down there right?

Sympathy like. We're sitting near 0 so I'm checking every so often to see if we get a delay

My new year's eve was a good one, I went out to dinner to an all you can eat Japanese restaurant and spend the rest of the evening at my sister's apartment with some of my family. I was the designated driver so no drinking for me but I can easily have fun without.
Just before midnight my nephew said he wasn't feeling well and at exactly 12 o'clock he vomited in a chip bowl his dad was holding. We all felt bad for the little guy but at the same time it was a funny way to start the new year.
At about 1 am it was save to drive again so I drove my brother and his family home. I was a little but nervous as there were still some teenage boys shooting off fireworks. Not the pretty kind just the kind that pop and they often throw them on the road but I had no problems driving.
Aw....poor kid. Did he eat too much junk food or was he really sick?
Someone tried to drive down our street at 12:30, when everyone was out lighting fireworks. We live on a really quiet street, rarely any traffic, and I'm sure it was someone who was visiting someone who lives on the street, but there's not much space to light fireworks other than in the street, so I'm not sure why they didn't just wait for 30 more minutes!

You ate duck?? You can't eat your own kind, Donald....it's unnatural! :P
Congrats to your pop. My dad would have turned 85 in March...so just a bit younger than your dad. Treasure each day you have with him!

Everyone keeps talking about putting away their decorations and it made me realize...we never actually put our tree up. It was so insanely busy in December and I was working almost every evening and it just never got done. Oh well...less to put away.

Not necessarily...I don't know about where you are, but in Wyoming, vehicles have tank heaters installed and they plug them in at night. You forget to plug your car in at night, it's not likely to start in the morning during the winter. But, I know that they don't have those down south...I know this because there was a grad student in Wyoming who came from Arizona...he came to the University of Wyoming in the summer to study astronomy, where there were wide open spaces and little light pollution and we had a really awesome telescope for it. He ran all over the place with his camera, and I remember him running across the parking lot, taking pictures of the tank heater cords on all the cars because he said his friends back home didn't believe that people in Wyoming plug their cars in at night...they thought he was pulling their legs. So he took pictures to prove it. It never occurred to me that there were cars that DIDN'T have a plug, but apparently that's not a "thing" in the South.

Have you looked on www.cruisecritic.com?
I find that site very helpful for information about the ships and the ports. Personally I prefer cruising with Norwegian as I like their Freestyle set up. I did one Carnival cruise which was nice enough but I disliked the assigned seating times for dinner.
Yes, I did. In the end after spending way too much time on the computer, dh and I decided to nix the cruise idea. A big reason was he really didn't want to go on a cruise, plus a week was over 5K for all 6 of us. He said he would rather go to Disney for that price. He felt claustrophobic on the Disney cruise we went on. So for now, we are still going to HHI.

Your dad doesn't look a day over 70, and you look just like him. Yes, you truly have a blessed family. :)

We took a bus tour one day. The resort does them for free. Here are some of the photos I took from around the island. As you can see, it was a bit rainy that day.

Bus tour? And free? Is that something they only do in the winter? Have never seen that offered when we go in September. Do you need to specifically ask for it?
