The Chit Chat Chit Chat Thread

I am so tired today. I always leave my phone on at night in case work needs me. I have email and most other things on silent and family and friends know not to WhatsApp between 10pm and 5.30am. This morning just after 3am my phone starts buzzing, I get up to check and it is my sister in law in Australia. She is so excited because she just finished her last day of work. I didn't have the heart to tell her she woke me up so we chatted for a bit about her upcoming flights and the trip etc.
Normally I would have cut it shorts to go back to sleep but today was my day off so I figured I could sleep in and take it easy today. Maybe even have a nap...
So I go back to bed at 5am only for my work to call me at 6am to ask me to come in. :bawling:

Oh my!
Sympathy like.

He actually has a knee scooter to get around. But I'm sure their thought process is that they want the family to be together and he should do whatever it takes to be with them because they are "wonderfull." :bored: Well the world doesn't revolve around them, it's about time they learn that. :joyfull:
Sounds like they want the family together, but also want things their own way. Oh well. Too bad you'll have to be away from them. Darn...:hilarious:

Speaking of Efteling, do they speak english? or everything is in the native language?

I ask because who knows if someday I go to Europe and do a "tour".
Well if you are asking about people who work there, they will all speak English....but, how much can you hear/lip read? I know that the line for at least Symbolica was in both English and Dutch...they had these symbols on banners that you could try to decode and one side was English and the other side was Dutch. But I don't remember about the rides themselves...I think the ones that actually speak were in Dutch. But a lot of stuff doesn't speak or you would already know the story. If we go again, I'll pay better attention. Or we could ask @RedNoseMickey to pay attention at Christmas.

I will just put it nicely....hubs has some "interesting" sisters. Oh well, at least now I can enjoy this Christmas. We will go to my sister's for the day on Christmas day and then just relax. So now how do I get out of going next year.......;)
Hrmmm....I'm thinking throwing yourself down the stairs to break your own ankle might be considered a bit extreme...we'll think on it. We have a whole year, right?

How about alternating every other year--one year at home with your sister, and the other other year with hubs' family? Seems like a fair compromise to me. His family should realize that you also have a family, and would enjoy Christmas with them, too.

It is 17 degrees here right now and it snowed today. I had to shovel when I came home after work. I only had my thin little stretchy gloves in the car with me and I didn't want to get the dog riled up by going into the house to get my warm mittens. That was a mistake, by the time I was done I couldn't feel my fingers at all, as they warmed up they were tingling and "burning" like crazy. Winter = :hungover:
Sympathy like. DS forgot his gloves at home the other day so I ended up giving him mine for the bike ride home....thank goodness I had my Ravenclaw sweatshirt on...it has long sleeves that I can at least wrap around my hands, so they didn't get TOO bad.

Oh my. I remember attending midnight showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show here at a long-since gone theater on Riverside Drive on the weekends...it was always a flippin' hoot...!!!!!!! :joyfull: :)

Ha ha ha! Long time ago here, too, but it was the "thing" at the time to hit the midnight show at an independent theater in Harvard Square, Cambridge (MA). Of course, the crowd was even more interesting than the movie!

My guess is their thought process was that he could get a wheelchair and just go through the airport that way...but he's a big guy. Would he FIT in one of those? Easier for him to be at home, and @ajrwdwgirl gets a peaceful holiday. ;)
Sure....but how is it any different from sitting in the car? He can't drive, but she would be doing the driving. The only thing that changes is that she's not driving, other than to and from the airport. But even so, he invited them all there and instead they are still pressuring him to go there so THEY don't have to make any effort. Who cares about the inconvenience to the "invalid" and family...I don't want to have to make an effort, so they should make double the effort because we are that much more important? I won't say what I thought about saying because it's a family thread and there may be children watching.
