Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Doing both Halloween and Christmas Parties Close together this year I’m a bigger fan of Christmas. It’s more Disney. The strangeness of Adults at Halloween is dramatically less at the Christmas hard ticket. A more fun loving of the season. It was very crowded but not sold out. The first two hours quite crowded but Dramatically dropped off quickly. It was cold as we left at Midnight for the second day in a row. Disney needs to get its busing act together for Deluxe resorts. This Combo isn’t working.

At least today it was warmer and sunny. Better but in Disney not working.

Tomorrow I am headed to the doctor. She will most likely order bloodwork, and I should know whether my cholesterol medicine is making a difference in my numbers. I have been taking my blood pressure at home, and so I should get a much better blood pressure reading. I don't mind going to the doctor anymore, but my appointment is a little earlier than I am used to. At least my doctor's office is a short bus ride from my house.
Good luck today

Well today was weird going into EPCOT. About twenty minutes after rope drop it lines to enter like the first day of food and wine after the soft opening monsoon the night before 2016. Today no explanation. Most of Pop Warner gone.

The lines to tap to enter were easily 45 minutes. Being AP it still took 15 minutes with our own bay. Skipped the finger print for AP to push us through. Disney needs a sign at the beginning of the queue on days like this. Nobody knows until they hit the touch points even then if general Guests realize what that means. It was ugly encounters. They sent them out to start over. So nasty

Epcot has two completely separate entry points up front. One from one side of parking Misson Space Side and the original Monorail entry security point and it is still a mess. So many angry guests there early enough and missing FP+.

The park was oddly crowded but we managed to get addional FPS due to DD diligence. Just didn’t get it

Sounds like there wasn't enough planning when they decided to institute various new entry points and policies. This is something that needs to be worked out, or they'll have a riot--can't you just see it when it gets really close to Christmas and they start getting near capacity/to capacity, crowds (and start closing parks)? Glad I won't be down there anytime soon!

So my boss offered me another contract for the new year but I turned it down. She was offended I don't want to come back, took it very personally, and now things are super awkward between us.
I miss London and my friends and even my apartment so I think I am ready to go back.
What is it that you do? When do you arrive for Christmas? I wonder why she was so offended...did you explain WHY you don't want to stay there? Things are a bit awkward at my work, too...our Christmas party was last Saturday, the 9th, and they gave us the date almost a year ago to be sure people wouldn't have conflicts. I missed it, but I guess on Thursday, they called in all the people who didn't sign up to go to the party and yelled at them, demanding to know why they weren't coming and why they went and planned something else when they KNEW that was the date of the party. It's a completely voluntary thing...it's not like we're PAID to go to the party, it was on a weekend, when most people want to spend time with their families after a whole week of working, spouses weren't invited to the party, and some people really just aren't party people. The idea of giving up time with family to listen to loud, annoying music, etc isn't exactly appealing. So they got mad that people didn't sign up to go and I guess one of the people told the boss it was "schandalig" (scandelous?) that he would treat them like this, that the Christmas party is optional, and he had no right to demand to know what people had planned or why, he wasn't entitled to any explanations. So I wasn't there Thursday when this all went down, but I DID get an email Friday, which was a much friendlier tone from what I heard about Thursday, asking me what the boss could do to make sure I was able to make an appearance at the party. I apologized, and explained there was nothing he could do...it was my birthday and I was spending it with my family rather than a work function. I got no reply, so I'm assuming he gave up, though he did NOT wish me a happy birthday yesterday even though he saw me several times. I guess the sentiment is "We're providing something fun and you WILL have fun, darn it, whether you want to or not!" Mandatory merry-making...just gets me right in the spirit.

Speaking of weather.
Last 2 days were particularly cold here.. with a minimum of 15C.. thats pretty cold for early december.
Not to mention it was super windy.
We didnt expect to have the very early mornings with such winds (50+Km/h)
Here comes the next ice age. :p:(
Wait until it decides to end all humanity and go to conquer the world.

Just like Sophia and other chat designed AIs.

Or some hilariously wrong chats.. (careful, rude conversation)

I find all this super scary. The movie iRobot screwed me up.

Part 9!!!

After returning from our trip, we decided to do something else after eating.

So we went to see a "halloween" style scare show at the local cementery. All related to old legends and scary mexican histories.

Things didnt go well as I got my first scare in the unusual way. I almost fainted when I tough that I had lost my ticket! D:
But after searching all my pockets found it.

The trail was so so..

The first scares were good and original but it dragged on and became repetitive.
Actors were so so, some good some bad, and so did the special effects.

Photos of some of the actors:

So in general it was ok. Not that scary at the end. (even if my sister was pretty much destroying my hand with her screaming pinches lol)

After that, we went back and went to bed for our last day.

We decided to use wake up early so we could get a meal then immediately get to a quick tour of the town of Pachuca on a tour bus. (BAD IDEA, Ill explain later). So we could get a quick snoop before we had to take our bus back to Mexico city and then directly to the airport for our flight.

We had our buffet then we waited. I had packed my entire camera gear just in case (another bad idea). Then went to take the bus.. turns out the first bus already took off and we had to wait a few hours for the next one.
So we bought tickets and went to the Museo de Mineria.

The Museum started with a nice video explaining the history of mining in detail. Then we moved to see the rocks, ores and other formations that they seen in the mountain range of Pachuca and its mining areas.
A lot of these rocks were gorgeous and very interesting.

They also had diagrams, imitations and older equipment related to mining all divided into rooms which were separated by date.
From the ancient native mining, to the modern US and Canadian mining systems.

After we were done, we ran back to get to the tour. Which was finally filling and ready to go.

The Tour took a bit to get going but then we got moved.

Now, my complains.. The bus was GOING TOO FAST on the important areas and GOING TOO SLOW because of traffic.
So since the bus has a "fixed" timeline that they cant go farter.. we lost minutes in dumb traffic.. thus not allowing us to see the important stuff better.

We visited:

  • Oldests churches in town.
  • Some monuments.
  • Old palaces.
  • Some viewing points.

And the oldest church which is tiny and now repaired on most of its fascents. Still retaining its very old original tower topper.

After visiting the town areas, we moved towards the road high in the mountains. To get to the famous "Cristo" monument. Which is a monument very similar to the famous Brazil's Cristo Redentor.

Now this ****es me off, because of traffic and other stuff.. they said we only had 10 minutes to view everything. not even 15 is the minimum to see all this area.. since its SO BIG and you can get up to the Cristo using stairs.

By the time I managed to take a few photos, they were hurrying to pick us up.. infact I was barely containing my anger when the f***** driver was claxoning us and already trying to drive without us.

I barely could take photos, I could NOT take photos of various angles or views I wanted.
And turns out, we were only 7 goddarn minutes on top before they were moving us away.

Should have hired a private tour, a few pesos more expensive but all the time of the world.

The statue:

The area is pretty big, id say its the size of a soccer stadium not counting the parking lot.
Lots of stairs as well.
And 2 supporting buildings.

There are also some camping and picnic areas nearby.

And a video taken not by me.

After this, it was time to pack bags.
We returned to the hotel, packed our bags and we went our way to the Terminal.

Our bus took quite a bit as there was a lot of traffic.

The good thing is, this bus took you straight to the airport terminal.

So it was easy to check out and get inside the airport.
We ate some food inside before boarding and returning home.

The flight was uneventful.

Aaand the end!!

UGH...that sucks that they rushed you! Like you didn't pay to see all these things. You should get your money's worth. Do you think the earlier tour would have been better?
