Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
Yep, my MIL and I get along well.
Unfortunately, MIL and FIL divorced about a year before DWifey and I were married. He estranged himself from the family. We saw him again only once after that before he passed about 16 or so years ago. Sad stuff.
Our kiddos are very happy to still have her and my folks in their lives though, as so many their age don't even have that. :(
We're all very thankful...!!! :)

Yep, my kids long ago estranged themselves from MIL. She never had anything positive to say even after they launched good careers after college. Whatcha goin'a do with that. It is pushing 3 years now since they were with her and it ended badly. Though she did make an 'appearance' at my fathers funeral last year. So out of her domain, deer in the headlights thankfully.

My kids had two fake but genuine grandparents. My two BIL's are married to two Sisters (bluck) The SILs had the most awesome parents and because of the weird dynamics of family gatherings they just adopted my kids as grandkids too. Salt of the earth people. They never missed a birthday party, graduation, baptism etc of my kids, they were all in and love them dearly. Sadly that Papa died a few years back and we were all heartbroken. Papa and I would hide in corners at command attendance events, me with a glass of wine and him with his beer. We were each others crutches for such family events. I miss him still. That Grandma is a hoot. She has spirit. During the war she was a member and depicted in the Movie A League of Your Own. She hasn't lost that spirit. So what my kids lost within a bloodline they gained in adoption. Win Win.

Hey, what's good for the goose is good for the gander. If she was a generous person, she would come out to visit the both of you. I think it's really selfish that she's still expecting the two of you to go and visit her. Nah . . . pass.
^^^^^This!! If she would never think of making the trip herself, then she can't expect you to...especially with Brad recovering from a broken ankle. The world does not revolve around her.

Whelp, saw Lion King at the Hippodrome today. It's pretty much the closest you'll get to seeing the Boradway/Vegas version without being in New York/Vegas (it was a Broadway Across America Production). It was fantastic. Cast was great, music was amazing...loved it. And Zazu had a new choice for something with a little "bounce" instead of It's a Small World...Let It Go.

I went with the same friend who went to DL with me. We went to a local pub for dinner. I guess they normally show sports, but they were showing Princess Bride tonight. After all, that has sports. Fencing, fighting, revenge, torture, giants monsters, escapes, true love, miracles...:cautious::joyfull:
It doesn't sound TOO bad. I guess you can read a little.

It's so nice when someone takes you in like that as if you are part of their family. I think some people have that gift of being able to make anyone feel welcome. My brother's in-laws are like that, too...when I was back for my brother's wedding, and when I was back for my dad's funeral, they treated me like I was one of them...like I came with the package. They invited me for Easter, we went to the Easter Egg hunt in their town and no one questioned my being there even though it was a TINY town (like 200 people) and the whole town shows up for the events. I could have been considered an outsider, but I was with Davie and Sue, so I was embraced like I lived there. It was pretty awesome.

The first letter to Santa that I remember putting together was three pages long. Covered just about everything in the Sears Catalog. I was about 4 or 5 at the time and I remember clearly thinking that if I put a lot of things on the list I would not get them all, but, I might get more then if I just made a small list.

I was an only child at the time, and quite lovable not to mention cute as a button. As it turned out I got everything on my list and more from Aunts, Uncles and Grand Parents. Good Times! A year or so later my sister was born and that gravy train came to a screeching halt. Siblings ruined my life!
Tell me about it!

For the adults I make themed food baskets. It's something I know they'll use. This year is a breakfast theme in a mixing bowl as the basket, a baking theme in a cake pan as the basket and a snack theme in a popcorn bowl as the basket.
One year I came into several cases of mason jar. Mason jar gift year:joyfull: Next year some of the people I know who sew are getting mason jar sewing kits with a pin cushion on top.

Naw! Scrooged makes me laugh so hard, more than the Muppets. And that is hard for me to say 'cause I love the Muppets.

I know it's such a tough choice. Tonight The Santa Clause. I can thank that movie for our collection of snow globes:rolleyes: Note to self never again let a 2yr old watch it

Sorry, couldn't resist...the 5 of us and SonIL did the Princess 5K back in Feb. of '16...!!! :D ;) :)
That is awesome!! Looks like you had a blast! I know someone who is doing it in 2018. :):)

Well, early February for Disney, but yes.
We always thought about going to Hilton Head for Christmas, but always would decided against. We didn't think there would be much to do in the colder weather. Does your family find a lot to do? Do they decorate it nicely?

That is a movie my kids have yet to see. That needs to be remedied.:)
