I think of it as a nice place to catch a nap. I don't care for it either.

Nope, you are not alone. That's one of our "let's go sit in a\c for awhile" spots. I Iike the Muppets but not that film.

Aww....these things make me sad. Muppet Vision 3D is one of the few places on earth where I laugh out loud at things. I can recite most of the script from memory and yet there are at minimum three times where I will laugh out loud every time I see it. The fact that it is a 3D movie that spends a large percent of its time totally mocking 3D movies is fundamentally appealing to my (usually latent) anti-society leanings. And, not to get political, but Sam the Eagle was Steven Colbert 30 years earlier.

9th grade science teacher was also awesome. He was a former genetics counselor and just really interesting to listen to. He's now a vice principal at the school where @brifraz used to teach. Science teacher was far too good a teacher to become an administrator.

Yep, right as I was reading a great teacher became a vice principal, that was my first thought, too...what a waste.
But, money talks.

Actually, the aforementioned science teacher will (in my opinion) be an AMAZING principal with vision and the ability to lead and guide people in a good direction. I can only hope that he finds a school where he can use those talents. His current work (under your former principal) is mainly of the lapdog variety and not winning him many supporters right now... but, he is just a cog in a much larger wheel which I think is not well guided from the top down (much higher than your former principal)...

Still haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Truth is, we really can't afford it. Doesn't mean we won't go ... just means we shouldn't.

Still thinking ....

I know what you are going through. I really am getting cabin fever and want to go somewhere. Trouble is no one I know can go anywhere right now, even my husband doesn't have the time off. So I'm trying to decide if I want to take a solo WDW trip or not. I haven't ever done one but it might be fun, just wondering if it is worth the $$$.

Still, all of us thought that he was too good a teacher to be a principal. He made science interesting and understandable, and his class was fun. He was pretty much always happy and had a smile on his face. And he loved joking around. We had a bunch of people in that class, male and female, named Alex, and he just started nicknaming them. One of the female Alex's he named Fred. Another male Alex he would just call Big +whatever color his shirt was that day. That kid liked the Orioles, so he was Big Orange a lot. I'm still friends with two people from that class (both named Alex, FYI) and we all agree that he was too good at teaching to become a principal. But since that's the route he's chosen to go, I wish him the best.

Also an FYI, the principal who replaced Mr. M was far worse than he was. I know you didn't like him, but us students did. He took the time to interact with students and get to know them, even teaching a class, which let him get to know his students better. So much better than the Wicked Witch of the West who now governs the school, who didn't even bother to learn people's names. I had to write the school paper article on her when she first came, and every person I interviewed complained about her. Very few had something positive to say; all of them said that they just missed the old principal. I never actively disliked a principal until she came along.

I just did one, and I found it fun.
You will be not tied by anyone. You can do whatever you want.
I was of course, still tied by the hours of the convention. But outside that.. FREEEDOOOOOOOM!

Been discussing the cold delays and closings with many colleagues and also responding to people on FB. In the county where I spent the last 20 years, while they may have said they closed or opened late because of starting busses, getting heat on in schools, or so kids weren't at the bus stop before dawn in the cold, but the truth is this...in that district (and many, I fear) the administrators are so colossally afraid of lawsuits that they have an actual office of people who sit and think of things that they could get sued for. Sadly, our litigious society has many people who will gladly sue a school system because their child got sick the day after standing at the bus stop in very cold temperatures. Thus, late openings. Funny thing is, most of the people who complain about the schools closing for small amounts of snow or cold (the "in my day" people who will gladly tell you they went to school in far colder temperatures than this morning even though this morning was the coldest in this area in 20 years) are the exact same people who will complain and possibly sue when their precious little angel caught cold the day after....OK, you get the idea.

BTW, that's the "Office of Risk Management" who also came up with rules whereby no school group in that district can go to an amusement park for any reason (education or not).

And, hey! Long time, no see! Glad to be here for a quick visit tonight!!
There are times that I think they close just to close. But then there were several times my senior year (after the new superintendent took over...we won't discuss him) that they sent us on time and there were accidents galore. One day my bus got stuck on a sheet of ice going up a hill. Started going backwards. Luckily, that bus driver knew what she was doing and got us turned around and out of there.

Well she did get home finally late last night. The group left Monday so getting home Thursday night, yikes.
The hotel on Monday found her a known, safe driver to take her hours away to a consulate on Tuesday since they observed the US Holiday Monday. They had dinner together Monday night to make sure she was comfortable with him and he spoke English. The hotel set them up with a reputable hotel in the next city. She went to the consulate and the doors were locked and they wouldn't let her in without an appointment. :cautious: blah blah blah fight fight fight through a speaker phone and someone came down to let her in. Passport not 'till Wednesday and sure enough out of that city no international US flights on Wednesday so she had to wait until Thursday. So she had to pay for the dude Monday night through Thursday and all of his expenses plus hers and a flight not booked in advance, in addition missed 3 days of work. She did get lots of extra time at the pool and spent lots of time at the spa.
