Up here is a very nice old community is Michael Jordan's mansion compound with no takers to buy. Loved by one and only one.
About $14 million and 32,000 sq feet.

To me it more looks like an office complex than a home.

.
Totally does not say “homey” to me.
Wow! That be early for us. When do you normally deck out your home? Me, I don't like to clean and that be a long time to clean around all that stuff.
We don’t do a huge display out front. Too much of a hassle to put away. We do put up a Chrismas village in the house. We have a small tree in the family room(4 footer) and the 7.5 footer in the dining room. The tree we bought yesterday is not decorated. Hoping to put that off for 2 weeks. One of the homes in our development has their tree up already. Saw it in a window. Some neighbors have started their outdoor displays. I an wondering if they are taking advantage of the better weather today because the ling term forecast does not look good at all temperature wise.

We don't have all that many, but, some you have to wonder about. For me to drive a bus or get a CDL (commercial drivers license) we have some pretty intensive written testing. And equally stringent driving test on the type of vehicle you are getting a license to operate. Things like passenger and air brake, hazardous material handling and so on. Yet, someone that has never driven anything bigger then a VW Beetle can go out and purchase the biggest RV they can find and just hit the road. Most of us keep praying that the road is all that they hit.

Oh Wow! I never even thought of that! :jawdrop:

One more type of vehicle to avoid out on the highways.

When I learned to drive truckers were on a whole a very responsible group of drivers out there. But then we had in Illinois that 'license for sale' scandal that went on and kept becoming uglier as the decade went on uncovering more and more corruption. The entire thing blew wide open when a families six kids died in a wreck where parts were falling off a truck around Milwaukee. It then made you wonder without any answers how many of those truckers were granted licenses fairly and honestly and how many out there were not really qualified behind the wheel of those big rigs. And if it happened in our state was this happening in other states?

I have not seen any residents putting up outdoor stuff yet but the last few weeks our weather hasn't been nice at all. Still the 'big' homes in our area use a local company to put up their Halloween and Christmas lights and those Christmas ones have been going up for several weeks. They are just lights and more often than not white so they are up but not 'on' yet which helps with the local laws. I saw house where the company was taking down the Halloween at the same time restringing Christmas lights.

My DD is currently baking white chocolate cranberry cookies.
:hungry:
I baked youngest dd’s bday cake today. Here is a fun story. She informed me today that she wanted a dolphin cake. Her bday is Tuesday. I have been super busy and thought I would take the easy way out and just get one from the supermarket. Nope, they did not have a dolphin. She also originally wanted a creamsicle flavored cake. So being the crazy parent that I am I did a quick search for vegan creamsicle cupcakes. Found one. I just needed a couple of things from the store that I did not have like all purpose flour. I usually use whole wheat which would not work. So I drove to the Walmart which is closer to my house than the supermarket. Picked up what I needed. Measured my ingredients. I was about to mix wet into dry when I noticed the flour was moving.:mad::banghead: Probably serves me right for buying organic flour at Walmart. Probably never moves. Anyway I had to go back to the store and get more flour. In the end it smells delicious. The cakes have to be frozen so I can cut them into shapes to form a dolphin. If it turns out well, I will take a pic.

Good News! Glad she is feeling better.

I'm not a big fan of how frequently pets are vaccinated. Their version of whooping cough is every single year where the human version is generally twice in a lifetime and our lifetime is so much longer. Then all the pesticides we have them swallow for heartworm, fleas and ticks. None of my pets ever had the Lyme disease vaccination only because I wasn't comfortable with how that was vetted for trials. I tend to follow and keep track of what the pet/horse people are saying and doing within their communities as they are on top of things. Me, I just see far more autoimmune problems with pets over the last decade and a half. So many more things we keep pumping into their systems. It is a big business with little to no liability for a pet.
Maybe it's different for dogs, but for cats there's not a ton of vaccines. There's vaccines for kittens which most shelters require before they will even adopt out kittens, but other than that, there's two shots: rabies annually, feline distemper every 3 years. Not too bad. The vets don't recommend anything more, and they really don't need anything more, especially since they are indoor cats.

That is warmer than I live. It was 35 as a higher, but it was down to 24 degree by 5 at night with the winds howling outside. The cold didn't stop crowds going to a Frozen Custard stand that was founded by Elsa despite having no seating inside. That stand is best known for huge burgers and frozen Custard.

That Frozen Custard even is very busy when its less than 10 degrees outside in the past and snowing. It had 2 Frozen Custard Flavors of the Day Yesterday. I checked the Flavors yesterday. Grasshopper Fudge was one of the two flavors of the day with the other being Maple Syrup & Pancakes.

After college I moved to a nice town about 20 miles from my folks. Close enough, far enough. It too had great custard and the
bestest burgers. Been there I guess since the 1940's. No indoor, order at window. Couple picinic tables on a very busy intersection (not so much when built way back then) Still open...'till Christmas.

Yes although Newport mansions are what you get when someone has way too much money. Down in the South and the West, old looking houses are not exactly the norm unless you live in an old city whereas New England.

This is a new house that is outrageously out of my price range that I like. Of course, more trees would be welcomed.

This is my favorite type of house. Tudor style. This house or McMansion or small village or whatever you want to call it was right across from my dorm senior year of college - absolutely loved it. Sold in 2016 for $16.1 million. 15 bedrooms, 13 bathrooms, a ballroom that can accommodate 120 guests, a carriage house with six bedrooms, a five-car garage, an ocean-facing hand-tiled swimming pool with a cabana pavilion, an elevator and putting greens is a bit much though. For those that have been to Newport, the cliff walk is below those cliffs..

Rhode Island made the news again - not for something good again. Seems like that always is that case. But the car was trying to get out by ramming into cars which made the situation worse than what it should have been.

This house was built and designed by one of my Dads friends and is down the street from where I grew up, built in the last few years. He is a large general contractor that builds shopping malls and casinos. This home is beyond awesome and you'd probably love it. I love it just alone for the awesome carport, far right and pool on the other side. The windows facing the street and some others have beveled glass pains that are subtle but beautiful.
