Last night it looked as if it would go into the Gulf, even early morning. We are getting the on and off heavy rains from Irma's Tail. Wind about 20 mph. Our mini tornado a few weeks ago was 95mph. I really wonder about some of these new DVC Cabins. The have the lake on one side and a drainage creek in landscaping on the otherside of most separating them from hotel buildings with footbridges. Last night the water was just under a foot from the level of the flat foot bridges. All week there have been so many mosquitoes down by the boats and waterfront. Crazy amounts of mosquitoes I mean. The frogs are camping with them but likely just too many to devour. They are also at night hundreds and hundreds of mosquitoes in the boat and dock from the Magic Kingdom to resorts. I'm surprised. The parks and the rest of the resort is absent of the little buggers.

Hard to photograph but nasty.

Dessert photos were forgotten. mea culpa There was a family making a spectral of themselves with a melt down 5 year old...but the large group didn't remove her from the area to chill, they tried to rock the flaying kid, bribe her...even laid her on the floor and pinned her down. I get kids all melt...but Artist Point isn't Chuckie Cheeses. They finally left with her and brought her back and repeat.

But Dessert was 2 shooters, white chocolate with a berry sauce, strawberry cream cheese with strawberry whipped cream, 2 cookies confetti and chocolate chip, both excellently crisp, cookie dough cupcakes and fruit cobbler. All of us kinda shared as we were stuffed but wanted to taste them all without wasting too much. Delicious.

Hats off to the Chef for some very excellent choices in a venue where he is normally creating Signature Meals. Most of the foods were fine dining worthy.

At 930pm the resort kinda changed courses. They ended family time, closed the bar. The storms winds were getting nasty and raining very heavy for a while. About 10pm the rain stopped...for a while. They are expecting the center of Florida's Hurricane then to be over the Orlando-ishes area between 2-4am. Think they just needed people to hit their rooms as many are not attached to main building.
We shall see, some models have it going West of Orlando. Turned out the lights here. Hoping they gone on again in the morning and I sleep through the worst of it.

We've had one up every single hour since 11 am today. One expires and the next warning is posted. Amen none have materialized in this portion of the 40+ square miles. *phew*
Irma now seems to be right between Tampa and Orlando.

Very large Hurricane, hurricane winds reach 130Km!!

the bad news?
yet another disturbance from cape verde might become a tropical storm.

It all looks delicious!! I want the beef slices! Yum!!!!
Perhaps the melting down girl has some sort of disorder...it's not always easy to calm them down. I've stood with DS for 45 minutes while he had a meltdown and nothing I said or did helped. (fortunately we were outside, so it wasn't really disturbing anyone) And dragging them along only makes it worse...best case scenario is stopping it before it starts. (which we are working on in therapy now) But sometimes it just doesn't work. Sad for the family to have to deal with it on vacation, and of course choices were probably limited as to where they could eat, and everyone is stressed and the routine is changed, and it's just an environment that is just right to bring on a meltdown. I'm sorry it affected the dining experience, though...not what you want to happen when you are basically held captive. If it's any consolation, I'm sure the family wasn't enjoying it any more than you were.

Maybe take out from Roaring Forks would have been a better idea for that family. No need to stress out a child like that. Seriously? Pinning her down??
I always keep forgetting what is this "site that shall not be named" :hilarious:
Yeah, me too.

I knew people that were supposed to work that day at the Twin Towers, but they stayed home that day. I had just delivered my first kiddo and my Ob/gyn told me she had to deliver the baby of one of her patients whose husband had died on 9/11 in the Towers. He was not supposed to be at work that day. He was only supposed to go in for a few hours in the morning. He worked at Cantor Fitzgerald, which I think lost all their employees working in the building that day. Thinking about this day still makes me so sad. :(
