A mixture today. The kids arrived and we changed rooms and were able to re-check in before breakfast. A few pics: A gift from Saratoga, the view from our room, chicken nuggets from the outpost near Pecos Bill's, one of our favorites from the Tiki Birds and dinner at Morimoto Asia.

You seem to be having a wondrous time. Happy for you! And quite the potpourri of photo's, love it! I've skipped so many posts, ooops. What is the congratulations for??? :cyclops: Missed something skipping around. Me, I so wonder how they clean all those lovey lighting fixtures at Morrie's Motos. Don't want that job. :joyfull:

I so want to ride a bicycle around your resort as I've seen @epcotisbest and his better half does someday. The property there is awesome and the proximity to Springs such a bonus. Hope your weather and the heat has been better today. Have fun, enjoy the family time relax and drink a margarita for me woman! :hungry:

I posted this before, but an actual phone call is very unusual for me. Usually, if my manger wants to talk to me, she either comes out to my desk and sits in the cubicle next to mine (which is empty most days) or she send me a Skype message (we have Skype for Business) and asks me to come in her office when I have a moment. Most of the time, if my phone rings, it's either the front desk receptionist, a manager who is remote, or my mother. It's not unusual for my manager to email me, but usually, it's because she wants to provide written instructions for an assignment, I emailed her because I saw she was in a meeting and didn't want to forget what I had to tell her and she's just quickly responding, or she needs to tell me something for when I get there the next day.

Calls at work are rare for me. Truth be told, I prefer it that way. Part of my job is administering our project management system. We have it very controlled; we don't allow managers to set up their own projects, we don't allow people to add new team members on their own...I have to do it. Any time there's a problem, they come to me. Mostly, they email or they send me a Skype message (usually email for new projects and new contractors/employees since there's a form to fill out). I can prioritize, or even handle several at once. This week I had three Skype messages come through at once. I could answer one, then while that person was responding, handle another...it would have been hard if they had all called me at once. Not to mention having managers spread out throughout the world makes email and Skype a bit more effective than the phone.

I find it interesting how technology use differs from company to company with the culture. In a company as large as ours, it even varies from department to department. I'm in the IT department. Everyone adopts the new technology pretty quickly. A long-time family friend told me that she never uses Skype at work because "This is work; we don't Skype." I told her soon she'll have to since Skype for Business is replacing another program we've used in the past for remote meetings. She still doesn't grasp the concept that all of this software we're using is for business. Hopefully this won't hinder the adoption process we're trying to do right now.

Ahh, you will see tech in all sorts of job situations. Neither of the organizations that my kids are employed with use skype, they find it too intrusive. Both are linked to the business version of IM'ing. Questions pop, they answer promptly and move on. No emails, no need to skype yet the need is met. Depends on the business and what is important to them. Neither of the organizations have felt the need or desire to skype the questions or interactions. Seems there are different solutions for all sorts of corporate situations.

Me, I've never called my children on their business lines. Even when my Dad was passing I called them on their cells not their work phone.

Although I haven't read anything in that forum for quite some time, I do know that it gets intense. And that's exactly why Steve put it on a "trial" basis--it may or may not stay there. But he and The Mom were so tired of moderating so many out-of-control posts that had political messages, that they had to come up with a place they could send people to post political discussions--and keep them the heck out of N&R and General. So many threads up in N&R were ruined by some of those discussions.

It was interesting to read his decision in the the members thread, kinda candid and I appreciate that. I'm not a young woman and I get the unrest we are all living in no matter how anyone lands in 'all that.' So much naturally mixes in to places where you frequent daily and are bonded too. Try as most do it can't help but leach in, it is human nature.

It seems to have contained the unrest we are living in within our real life. We are given the choice to visit that forum or those threads, seems to be working overall. So I find it a win. Don't like it, don't go there. Simple right?

Still like any catastrophe in life I accept that at times some things will spill over elsewhere, I try not to get my shorts in a knot about it. I generally scroll past it and move on. Bigger things in life to be stressed about. Getting my shorts in a knot about an infraction to me is more stress than scrolling past it just like other topics that I have zero interest in. Better for my blood pressure than calling most on the carpet for it IMO any how. And if I'm annoyed I just flip to Trip Reports and all is right in the world again. Works fine for me.

I bought one about 6 years ago on clearance and I reluctantly had to throw it away in November. It held up well. So when I tried my new one on at Sears I also tried on a Sears brand one too and it fit fine but I could tell it wasn't as good of quality. So even though the Lands End one was more expensive I got it because I figured it would hold up longer.

I think it was red, but you can tell her it was green. I did see a green lawn tractor on the same walk.

I agree with your choice! Their suits are awesome.

I went with look at this tractor in Wisconsin!

Lands End has some good quality stuff. I only wish at our local Sears that they had petite sizes. I can wear their bathing suits in regular sizes, but most everything else has to be in petites for me.

I did get a cardigan from work there a few weeks ago. Regular size, but it fit fine. I liked it well enough to look for more of them online. They had it in a petite, so I decided to get the petite. Fits SO MUCH BETTER. If they had petites in store, I'd probably buy more of their stuff.

I do hope that when Sears inevitably goes broke that Lands End survives.

I think it will. It is an odd corporate situation now. They spun off their catalog division to a UK holding company years ago and is publicly traded separate from Sears as I understand. I still have luggage-canvas from when I was a child. Awesome, :) just lack wheels. :( Porter-Bellhop!

And, this (using the paging system - not to mention emails) is unusual from managers, bosses, partners, etc., and even coworkers, how...? o_O ;)
There was a guy at the firm years ago that worked in the office directly next to mine. He seemed to be (for lack of a better term at the moment) addicted to emailing. I would walk over to his office and ask him a question about the status of a project and he would always say "I'll shoot you an email!".
Finally, one day I said "Dude, I'm standin' right here! Just tell me!"
Probably not a week later I heard a partner tell him pretty much the exact same thing...!!! :hilarious:
It was ridiculous...!

Though I'm not great at it I embrace tech. Still I find some people have not learned the skills of knowing how to personally interact in the business world. And no matter how tech evolves currently or in the future or the past it is the personal bonds that need to be formed to further careers and those relationships. Nobody bonds or forms a business relationship with an email alone, an IM alone etc. You have to be able to communicate inter-personally, know how to communicate effectively verbally with co-workers and also master the skills of tech communications. Both are necessary. The world will continue to have conventions of humans interacting face to face, auto shows, tech conventions that require interpersonal skills being developed. Shooting an email doesn't trump human nature. Business lunches and dinners will never likely go away, so those human contact skills need to be developed.

The Sears that I went to the other day had a Petites section, I accidentally wandered into it. I don't always pay attention to the signs when I shop. Last time I shopped for clothes I wound up in the maternity section too. That section isn't for me either! :)

Ha! :joyfull:

Target here tends to blur their lines with maternity clothing.

It was lovely weather after work today, about 70 degrees sunny with a slight breeze. So I decided to plant my flowers and herbs. Two hours later I was done. Now I'm paying the price, my legs and back are stiff and my arms ache a little. It was worth it though, my flowers looks nice and the mojito mint I bought will be wonderful in my seltzer in the future.

And the reason I am still awake. Today I was creating a project for my DD in our garage, she doesn't have the time. Then I needed to take the liquid weed killer to our entire property. We've had so much rain those little boogers are popping up in places everywhere they have no business even growing. Attempting to drag that stupid hose around didn't go well and my back is sore as are my hands. Advil isn't doing the trick as of yet. Oy. They best die after all that.

Didn't your homeowners insurance cover it...?
Minus the deductible, and a potential premium increase...! ;)

Been about 10 years but we did get our roof replaced once 'cause of humongous hail. Our entire area was just declared a catastrophe zone. You could see the freak'n dents in the shingles.

Our town is old and we have may homes that have those awesome tile roofs. Even some of those little boogers cracked with that storm and those tiles withstand just about anything beyond a tree falling on them.

alternatively, I think they cant get people in if they have reservations. They treat those like they were FP+s.

We waited over an hour in the fall for an ADR at the Garden Grill last fall and then the service was so less than prompt. 1.5 hours for family style. Ridiculous.
We missed FP+ because of incompetent service at exorbitant price levels. The food was good but way too annoyed to enjoy. Messed with our plans to transfer to the MK for EMHs. Disney doesn't really have their act together at times.

We had the same issue there last summer. Not quite as long of a wait to be seated but we had a 5pm ADR. I'm glad we decided to close EPCOT that night.
