Although I haven't read anything in that forum for quite some time, I do know that it gets intense. And that's exactly why Steve put it on a "trial" basis--it may or may not stay there. But he and The Mom were so tired of moderating so many out-of-control posts that had political messages, that they had to come up with a place they could send people to post political discussions--and keep them the heck out of N&R and General. So many threads up in N&R were ruined by some of those discussions.
I like it. Dangerous to play there I found so I don't. Still no need to get personal. Geez

My manager's level of laziness today:

Calling me from her office to my desk instead of walking out 20 feet to talk to me. :hilarious:

And, this (using the paging system - not to mention emails) is unusual from managers, bosses, partners, etc., and even coworkers, how...? o_O ;)
There was a guy at the firm years ago that worked in the office directly next to mine. He seemed to be (for lack of a better term at the moment) addicted to emailing. I would walk over to his office and ask him a question about the status of a project and he would always say "I'll shoot you an email!".
Finally, one day I said "Dude, I'm standin' right here! Just tell me!"
Probably not a week later I heard a partner tell him pretty much the exact same thing...!!! :hilarious:
It was ridiculous...!

I love Lands Ends swim suits, have bought them a long long time already. Their material is strong, doesn't pill easily and holds up against chlorine well not fading or suffering from Chlorine Rot. Big fan.
Lands End has some good quality stuff. I only wish at our local Sears that they had petite sizes. I can wear their bathing suits in regular sizes, but most everything else has to be in petites for me.

I did get a cardigan from work there a few weeks ago. Regular size, but it fit fine. I liked it well enough to look for more of them online. They had it in a petite, so I decided to get the petite. Fits SO MUCH BETTER. If they had petites in store, I'd probably buy more of their stuff.

I do hope that when Sears inevitably goes broke that Lands End survives.

The Sears that I went to the other day had a Petites section, I accidentally wandered into it. I don't always pay attention to the signs when I shop. Last time I shopped for clothes I wound up in the maternity section too. That section isn't for me either! :)

It was lovely weather after work today, about 70 degrees sunny with a slight breeze. So I decided to plant my flowers and herbs. Two hours later I was done. Now I'm paying the price, my legs and back are stiff and my arms ache a little. It was worth it though, my flowers looks nice and the mojito mint I bought will be wonderful in my seltzer in the future.

That surprises me. Your Mom is such a traditional lady and serves up some awesome family dinner foods. Would have bet Jello to be apart of those family gatherings. :hungry:

Oh, there were plenty of Jell-O dishes back in the day at all family functions, gatherings, etc., and I'm talkin' even at all extended family functions, gatherings, etc.

I've never given any thought as to why it's nonexistent at my mom and pops anymore, and hasn't been for years.
Maybe it's because, for many years now, there have been so many new things as appetizers (crackers with hummus and spinach dip, chips and queso, crockpot Lil' Smokies and BBQ sauce, etc.) and on the table (3-bean salad, corn casserole, broccoli rice casserole, etc.).
Can't really say I miss it, though. :cyclops:

I posted this before, but an actual phone call is very unusual for me. Usually, if my manger wants to talk to me, she either comes out to my desk and sits in the cubicle next to mine (which is empty most days) or she send me a Skype message (we have Skype for Business) and asks me to come in her office when I have a moment. Most of the time, if my phone rings, it's either the front desk receptionist, a manager who is remote, or my mother. It's not unusual for my manager to email me, but usually, it's because she wants to provide written instructions for an assignment, I emailed her because I saw she was in a meeting and didn't want to forget what I had to tell her and she's just quickly responding, or she needs to tell me something for when I get there the next day.

Calls at work are rare for me. Truth be told, I prefer it that way. Part of my job is administering our project management system. We have it very controlled; we don't allow managers to set up their own projects, we don't allow people to add new team members on their own...I have to do it. Any time there's a problem, they come to me. Mostly, they email or they send me a Skype message (usually email for new projects and new contractors/employees since there's a form to fill out). I can prioritize, or even handle several at once. This week I had three Skype messages come through at once. I could answer one, then while that person was responding, handle another...it would have been hard if they had all called me at once. Not to mention having managers spread out throughout the world makes email and Skype a bit more effective than the phone.

I find it interesting how technology use differs from company to company with the culture. In a company as large as ours, it even varies from department to department. I'm in the IT department. Everyone adopts the new technology pretty quickly. A long-time family friend told me that she never uses Skype at work because "This is work; we don't Skype." I told her soon she'll have to since Skype for Business is replacing another program we've used in the past for remote meetings. She still doesn't grasp the concept that all of this software we're using is for business. Hopefully this won't hinder the adoption process we're trying to do right now.

Our Sears has no petites anything, and it's the only Sears in the area. Most of my clothing comes from Macy's and JC Penney because they the largest petites selections. Actually, come to think of it, other than my Lands End cardigans and my shoes, 100% of my work wardrobe is Macy's. If they ever go out of business, I'm in trouble.

Yes their sizing is generally true to the charts (which they have online, on the same page with any garment they sell). I don't think they have gorgeous stuff; I think they have well-made, functional items. I'm not looking for gorgeous in my swimwear---I'm looking for function.
I actually just checked out their website based on your suggestion. I think some of their stuff is quite cute. I had LL Bean backpacks for school; we all knew they were the best. My mom used to buy me a new backpack every year because they would fall apart. We got an LL Bean backpack online. I carried it most of the way through middle school and all through high school. I got another one in college. That thing went all around the college campus with me and on all of my vacations since starting college, and you can barely tell. If Lands End ever fails me for swimsuits, I'll have to check them out.

And I'm 22, so I am looking for cute in swimsuits. ;)

Email is still # 1 with me. I have friends that keep up with me that way, every week. They know I refuse to join Facebook, etc. And don't even get me started about how often email is used at work. My inbox at work is often up to 80 incoming emails a day, and that's from all over the hospital. None of it is junk email--it's all about work.
lucky you, I get bombarded with 500+ spam email a day on each oh my gmail accounts x_x

Oh well that's good...at least he's old enough that you can let him stay in the resort to rest and you don't need to stay with him or have a babysitter. It would be sad if the whole family was trapped because you couldn't leave him alone and he was confined to the room...and of course, family enclosed in one small space with a sick person usually means the whole family is going to get sick. Mine aren't quite that old yet...I can leave DD for a couple of hours at home, but I wouldn't be able to leave DS, and I wouldn't dare leave either of them alone at the resort. At home, DD can grab something from the fridge, or I can make up a few snacks for her before I leave in the morning. At Disney, she'd have to fend for herself. But I'm glad your DS is feeling better anyway!

Oy-I'm sorry, I forget. How old are you kids. I'm loosing track of everyone here children's ages. oops.

Woof.
All I can say to all a' that is, I'm darn glad I'm a Senior Associate at a small, yet extremely successful, firm that get's most of it's inter office business done face to face.
I can't remember the last time I got a call on my office phone, only inter office pages. My DWfey, kiddos, etc. can call me on my cell. I do use my office phone to call for things like clarification of a deed restriction in a particular neighborhood, requesting an emailed digital copy of a site survey, etc.
We continue to stay as up to date as possible on the communication and presentation technologies we feel are necessary for us to remain competitive and beyond.
I was just in a Go To Meetings call with one of the partners 2 days ago in his office. He can draw/design in colors on a screen, and the client can see it on their computer. The clients were in Virginia, and even commented on how amazing the tech was.
Just this afternoon I was shown an animated 3-D fly-around-and-through presentation tour of a project we are doing that was simply mind-blowing! The clients are gonna' freak...!!! :joyfull:

And yep, bottom line, all smart companies do their research and implement the solutions and technologies they feel are best for them to remain relevant and successful...! :)

We had this happen at PF Changs a few weeks ago too. Called for a ressie and they said it be an hour wait. We walked from the other side of the mall and were seated in 8 minutes. They were not busy. I sometimes wonder if the servers know what the hosts are saying.
alternatively, I think they cant get people in if they have reservations. They treat those like they were FP+s.

A mixture today. The kids arrived and we changed rooms and were able to re-check in before breakfast. A few pics: A gift from Saratoga, the view from our room, chicken nuggets from the outpost near Pecos Bill's, one of our favorites from the Tiki Birds and dinner at Morimoto Asia.

how was Morimoto's? is it really worth the price?
