Goosebumps and chills this weekend, that sinking feeling in the pit of your gut as I was in JCP this weekend. You hear the announcement CODE ADAM, doors instantly guarded, employees dropping what they are doing all combing every inch of the store, under racks, in drawers, dressing rooms, restrooms. So many employees that are backstage employees with radio's. We are looking for a white, 3 year old boy in a red tshirt. I saw a man approached multiple times that was Eastern Asian that had a preschool boy approach many times, the boy had a red shirt on. I watched manager walking with the Mother who was remarkably holding it together well. She was just slightly raising her voice walking the store call the boys name. Dad upstairs doing the same. Manager talking to police dispatcher on phone, getting frustrated as if she had to explain what a CODE ADAM was at JCP She finally hung up.

It was pretty obvious 20 minutes into the hunt the boy was gone from JCP, with all the staff hunting an likely every single customer looking, I know I was keeping my eyes peeled.

About 30 minutes later I saw Customer Service had a man behind the cash register, all other registers came to a halt obviously to look for the child. I was there about 5 minutes and a manager surfaced and another cashier. She told the man he was found, safe. Security had returned him to JCP to be reunited with his parents. Anyone familar with Woodfield it is one of the largest malls in America. The boy was found near Fannie May Candy which is at the Hub, block-maybe 2 blocks away. He came back escorted with 3 Fannie May lolly pops in his hand. Amen.

I've experienced a few CODE ADAMs in my life, one in a large waterpark. I found 2 lost preschoolers myself one in Six Flags and one at Blizzard Beach, I pointed to them that we were going to talk to the Uniformed person that worked there, careful not to spook them by taking their hand just guiding them by talking to them. At JCP I saw the beauty of humans as we were contained for sometime for the welfare of a child. I watched employees go above and beyond looking for the small boy obviously as unnerved as most of us were.

A happy ending.
Thank goodness. i guess he just wandered away.
I found a wandering little one near the fire station T MK last year. He has calling for his mom. I seemed to be the only one hearing him. Some people are just so oblivious. I called to security and luckily just a short while later the father showed up. On another trip maybe the year before, a panicked father was yelling frantically for his little boy in EPCOT showing people his picture. I kept my eyes open, but have no idea how that ended. I could not imagine losing a child.

Honestly a mix of many today. Ever since my mom passed away I really hate mother's day. While I do honestly wish mother's a happy day it a sad reminder to me that my mom is no longer with me. Sorry to be melancholy, I will be better tomorrow.

Nice JCP story by the way, I'm so glad that the little boy was found safe and that so many honest and caring people helped out.
I had a problem with Mother's Day also until I had kids. My toughest days not having my mom are probably my birthday and her birthdate. My youngest was originally going to be induced on her birthdate, and I felt weird about that. Luckily the hospital was too crowded and they could not fit me in. She ended up being born on her own 2 days later on one of my SIL's birthday. :)

Sorry to hear that your mom has passed as well.

Out for me today. I'm going to bed early, an early day tomorrow. Daughter has an appointment with the Doctor. Just routine stuff. We are helping, by lining her shelves in kitchen, bathrooms...the boy's love the new apartment. They each have a separate deck. We saw 6 prarie dogs and a long eared bunny, while sitting on their deck. Mom has a deck too. They have tons of birds and squirrels. The squirrels throw pine cones at your head as you walk under their trees! So funny !

Oh my!!!
Bombs away...!!!!! :joyfull: ;)

Oh how scary!! Fortunately for me, my kids never wandered too far. There has been only one time that DS went to play on a ramp in the store and couldn't see us anymore and almost left the store when a very attentive cashier asked him where his parents were and he said he didn't know and she called for us. So we had the talk again about not leaving the store, but asking either someone who works there, or another mother with children for help. And DD lost her way at a small amusement park once...couldn't remember where our table was. It's a really small one meant for preschool and elementary aged kids and if you are sitting at a table in the middle, you can see the whole park, so they can't really get TOO lost. She remembered what to do and asked another mom for help and that mom took her to the front desk to have us paged and then waited with her until I got there. She was 9 at the time, so not REAL small or she wouldn't have been by herself. But man, I've seen some REALLY little ones at those indoor play areas where a 2 year old is by themselves and can't remember where mommy is sitting. We've brought our share of crying little ones to a customer service desk to ask them to page parents. It amazes me with the super small ones because we didn't let our kids play alone until they were about 6...I freaked out if I couldn't see them for 2 seconds. But in stores and such, kids are good at wandering off. Mommy is looking at something and the kid gets bored and wanders off in search of something more interesting, and they are FAST. I'm glad it was a happy ending!! Kudos to the employees who closed the doors, etc...I wonder how often that happens...if it was pretty routine for them, or if it was just good training.

We heard an announcement in the airport last month looking for a 3 year old boy and just about that time, I saw 3 or 4 security officers towing a little boy beside them, so he was found really quickly, but I think I'd have freaked out...in an AIRPORT? Who knows WHAT could have happened. That might be the WORST place ever for a kid to wander off.

I'm sorry. Has she been gone long? I'm lucky that my MIL fills the void for me a lot. She really is a mom to me and she does things for my kids sometimes in my mom's name, since my mom isn't here to do them. So I miss my mom, but it's not the sharp pain on mother's day that it might be if I didn't have a mother figure at all. I buy my mom flowers for her birthday/anniversary of her death every year. (only a couple of weeks apart) I guess I should by flowers for mother's day, too...
I think father's day is going to be the hard one for me this year.

I don't think sugar cane will grow in Wisconsin, some rum sounds good though right now!:)
Maybe it would grow in a back yard greenhouse:oops: My grandfather told us about growing sugarcane when he was a kid and how to cook with it. I don't remember him mentioning molasses or rum but then again I don't remember him drinking anything except highballs:hungover: They were supposedly quite fashionable back in the day

I still have nightmares from when I lost sight of my older ds at Disney for a few moments. We have a place in each park to meet up but I'm glad it didn't come to needing to use it. I can't imagine how I'd handle having to have to get help to find one of mine back then

Yeah 5 years although it doesn't seem that long. I could see how Father's Day would be tough for you this year. :(
