@JenniferS maybe this will cheer ya up. A black lab that hops the bus by herself and knows her stop to get off and go to the dog park.

Y'all remember I'm dog phobic, right? I would have a stroke!
My first night helping Tammy at her new apartment, we had to wait for another elevator because of a muzzled mid-size dog.

Today was BOGO day.
The two working boys both owe me money ($520/$2220) and today was their pay day.

I stuck my hand out, and waited to see what they each paid me. I encouraged them to be generous.
After I had finagled as much as I could ($100/$200) I let them know that it was double credit day.

Oh yeah, then they wanted to pay more, but I said nope, 5-minute deal, blue light special.

You have a dog!
I get where she's coming from.

I'm also afraid of dogs. But not all dogs. Big ones. Like above me knee. I'm not completely phobic, but not comfortable around big ones either. I'm okay around dogs that I know, but unfamiliar big ones...forget it. But I like little dogs. Non yappers, of course, but little quiet ones are fine.

My brother, on the other hand, is dog phobic, but only with big ones. He once told us that he couldn't go to his friend's house because they have a big dog. Another time, he was at a friend's house and did his business in the woods when they were playing outside because the dog was in the house.

That is a shame, labs especially are found to be amazing with working with autistic children. We are on our 3rd student with a companion lab in our district. The results in inclusion classrooms phenomenal. They take their Pup and their aide out at lunch recess for a walk too, sometimes during PE also depending on the activity of PE.

Big Dogs generally give warnings before they bite. Little Dogs tend to be snappers and are quick biters. Then again one can always drop kick a small dog if it gets vicious a tad harder to do with a Rot. There are so many gentle giant large breeds, not as many in the small or toy category.

Not a fan of terriers, rots, chows, too unpredictable. Labs, Goldens, retrievers in general, Standard poodles are generally are animals looking to please.

My brother really doesn't like animals. He likes to look at them at AK, but won't touch them. Cats are the exception, though he doesn't seek out our cat. Every once in a while I make them interact. He will pet her, but just generally finds animals too unpredictable to be around. Dogs for him are especially unpredictable for him. But he's okay with strange cats. He's not like me in that I try my best to make friends with cats, but he can pet them and calmly be around them.

I like little dogs. My bff had a sweet little dog named Mini. Mini never hurt a fly. When they got her as a puppy, it was funny when she would get out because her mom would have to chase this little dog around the yard. Oh boy was that fun to watch. But Mini settled down eventually. She passed away a few months ago unfortunately. My bff's aunt had a dog, Wattie, that was a mixture of pug and sharpei. That dog was funny because bff's aunt was living with bff's grandparents at the time, and when we would go swimming, Wattie always lifeguarded the pool. She was a fun dog.

Unless I marry a dog person, I can't really see myself ever getting a dog. As long as I have Belle, I can't get a dog; she's terrified of them. But if I were married to a dog person, we'd have to compromise and get a little dog. The right little dog that is. But also, we'd still have cats.

Yeah, some will never be dog or cat people ever. Service dogs are anything but unpredictable. They are actually animals that autistic children have complete control over, they generally bring down the anxiety level. It is a neutralizer for these kids in our system, their constant.

I can't tell you the meetings we had over the first Pup that came into our system. All the fears never materialized. The second, we knew what we were doing. The third, it was like, OK we have a third. They stick to their people like glue and their people stick with them. If you ever get the opportunity to observe autistic kids with their Pups go for it. It is genuinely remarkable.
