Newhart did a long interview this week with John Williams of WGN Radio-Chicago. His mind is still strong. It was fun to listen to him be so happy about the Chicago Cubs and speak of his time when he went to college downtown fondly. Wonder if that all played into his one show being set in Chicago.

He will be in Chicago to be the keynote speaker for
The Salvation Army. Good guy. :inlove:

I believe this is the link to the interview with Newhart.

I love Bob Newhart. He was great as a guest star on The Big Bang Theory. His mind is definitely still spry. Thanks for the link.:)
I was a little too young when his first sitcom came out, although I remember the parental units watching it and can picture the set in my mind. :)

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.

Unless it was a meet and greet with the real guy who plays Starlord in the movies!:inlove: Throughout the whole movie, I kept thinking that Chris Pratt should play Indiana Jones in any new movies. He would be perfect in the role.
No way you could have anyone play Indy and a cheeky rouge of a starship pilot. That would never work.

It was the last big downpour that came that I thought I was going to just have a nervous breakdown if it didn't stop. It was dark (can't remember, but maybe Sunday night?), and I looked out the front window. Street of course flooded, but the water came all the way up on my front lawn (first time ever) and all the way to the outfield of the park across the street (also a first). The water has gone down. I am supposed to go to a tree planting memorial tomorrow at a local park, and last time the poor widow checked, the spot was still under water. Hope that is all drained by tomorrow. And at school, the kids go outside in shifts. Last week, I was able to get the first group out, and the second would walk outside, and have to run in...more rain. Sick of rain. Talking to my dad, the desert never sounded so good.

I think if we got that last one, they would have had to lock me in a padded cell for awhile.

Tomorrow is garbage day. We will see how everyone faired. I think it was the one early Friday morning that split and hit lower WI an central IL Had we had that prior to what we had all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday we would have been goners. Let alone the one that rose up Eastern IL and Indiana, that overall saved us. Our river is still out of its banks but has also gone down. Grass is long and squishy along with ponds still sitting in the middle of the grass.

Think the only ones that are happy is the birds, fowl and the trees and we had a big ole tree fall on the riverwalk that was sitting in a 'new' lake. Came up by the roots, had to be a 100 year old tree.

I've watched Newhart over the years in reruns. While I also enjoyed his Innkeeper days, him being Doctor Bob was my favorite.

Good Day! :)

Speaking of Doctors. One of my DD BFFs received her Doctorate yesterday with highest honors. Was able to see her getting hooded on FB Live. She is 23. She finished her intern rotation in Indy and in the summer will fulfill her residency Northwestern Uni Hospital. Such a lovely young woman, driven. And kudos to her Mom, a young lady couldn't have a better one.

Good day!

I learned to drive in my folks Delmont 88. Also the first car I drove to Florida. Its speedometer went to 120. I did tip into triple didgets on some of those lonely double lane highways when Dad napped. We made very good time when I drove. ;)

The first car/truck I ever drove was that cousins '63 International Harvester pickup with "three on the tree", that I've posted about before, on my grandparents (pops folks) farm. I was 13.
I took my drivers test at 16 in my folks '77 Buick LeSabre. Passed the first time. My regular transportation after that was the Camper Special with the cabover camper on it, until a few months later when I bought my first car from money I had in savings, plus money I had had been earning and saving from my first job at a local go-kart track. :)
The fastest I've ever driven/riden in a car is about 135 mph. That was in my '85 Mustang GT. It was on the main highway I still drive to and from work everyday.
It was in the early afternoon. Another Mustang was just getting on the highway on the ramp just to the right, and in front of me (it was an '84 GT). They kicked it down and started haulin'-a down the highway, I kicked my 5-speed down 2 notches and went off in hot pursuit...
The road was actually eerily clear of other vehicles. :cyclops:
The tested top speed (by Road&Track magazine) of my car was 135 mph.
As we were blazing down the highway (there was a good stretch back then that was devoid of traffic lights) I was gaining on the other car (that stretch of road heading north is on a gradual downhill slope most of the way) and I had topped the car out...not going any faster.
I caught up to the other car as it was exiting the highway. I looked over, and there was a chick behind the wheel smiling at me...!!!!! :joyfull: :)

Yes, I it was stooooopid, and any number of tragic things could have resulted from it.
It even left me jittery. Have never done anything like it since, but, what a rush... :cyclops:

I have a friend who was counting on free dining and I just told her she was blocked out. She is a nurse in our local hospital, so she cannot change her dates. I told her she should be able to get a room discount but her dates weren't released as room only discounts yet. It is strange because her dates were in last falls discounts that were released in April. Guess they are changing things up a bit. Maybe they are more booked then the last bunch of years?

Parks & Resorts just seems to keep peeing on their own shoes over and over again.
It seems there is too much "Hey! I've got a great idea!!!" without proper vetting of those ideas before implementation. They're all over the place. They just seem to keep making visiting the Parks (especially WDW) more and more difficult planning-wise, mostly for first time Guests and less frequent Guests. I get the need to try new things and advance (Walt himself was all about that), but, more careful thought, planning, and implementation seems to be in order.
And yes, I get that getting rid of things like the ticket books of old made things easier on everyone. Now, they just seem to be constantly recomplicating things in the name of simplifying them, and too often failing, in order to increase the bottom line.
It seems like, way back when, it was about giving guests an actual great value to increase the bottom line. Now, it seems like it's more about falling all over themselves to hoodwink the Guests into thinking they're getting a great deal to increase the bottom line. :cyclops:
