Are you old enough to remember pop cans before there was a pull tab? Do you remember the ones that pulled off purposely? So sharp.

The Oregon Trail was the best! In middle school we had a computer class but I think the whole time was spent playing the Trail or math games. Given my distaste for math I did not like those but the Trail :inlove:.

I did not get to use computers until college. We started off using these:

And in one of the computer classes, we actually entered code as 0's and 1's with toggle switches on one of these:

But at least I didn't have to walk 10 miles to school (uphill in both directions) on broken glass with no shoes, so I guess I was lucky.

I'm actually old enough to remember Oregon Trail. There was a version of it on some of the old Macs in elementary school that were eventually replaced by PCs. Although I was in first grade, and I don't think any of us had any idea what we were doing.

actually, I have adblocker and it loads just fine.
It named a specific one that I don't remember the name of... Peter, something. Once I allowed it to temporarily unblock, it came right up. It's important, I think, to say that I have never downloaded any adblocker directly. Whatever is there was there for who knows how long. I know I didn't put it in my system voluntarily.

My truck is still in the garage, I pulled in this morning and a couple hours later I couldn't get to it. Maybe tomorrow??? I hope. Our river rose a foot and a half near the bridge in a little more than an hour. The ducks are having a blast, genuinely playing, dive bombing into the new lakes. The Robins are back and they are play'n.

I can get about 20 feet off the road onto the River walk and then it becomes a river with a current. Fish swimming in the grass and on the sidewalks, as are the ducks.

Supposed to rain through the night. Hopefully the mega storms that we had last night and today will slip East and not a direct hit tonight. Pretty Please.

Stay safe @MouseDreaming
Things here are a little drier this morning, but I don't want to jinx anything. It is almost 8 AM, and I noticed it is starting to get darker...

I remember making those cards also. I think it was 6th grade. Don't remember the Oregon Trail. First computers at our elementary school were Radio Shack or IBM computers I think with cassette tapes. It was such a huge deal to program it to choose a random number.

Here too. The river has come down almost a foot since last evening, still way over its banks but going in the right direction. We are so fortunate that round 3 slid south and over the lake. We didn't loose any roads but if we did get the third mega storm it would have been even more nasty.

Funny, there was no water bed crazyness in my country, nor we had those wheres the beef commercials. I guess because Wendy's was never truly famous or recognized here o_o

But definitively experienced all the others.
you missed the "beep beepbop" noise of the old modems as well.

Those commercials go a long way back, you might not have even been old enough to remember them even if they did get shown.

Waterbeds were very popular in the 70s and 80s after that they started to fade and most waterbed stores just went out of business. There were a few large national brands. They were cheaper than most beds so it had a wide appeal to the young.

But a Cali King waterbed held about 250 gallons of water, like @MinnieM123 said if they sprung a leak you had to move fast, providing you were even home. Those bed frames had very good liners but still. I know a great deal of landlords refused to allow them in their buildings one because of their weight in older structures and likely a bigger factor 250 gallons can do so much damage to apartments and all those below the waterbed. Banning the beds in leases was likely enough to tank the stores, they lost they target demographic.

I don't remember any beep with our Macintosh. I do remember the awful noise from the dial up internet in that era though, not pretty.

Teachers that go above and beyond.

SC teacher raises $80,000 to purchase a bicycle for every single student in her Elementary building. Started when a student mentioned that he'd like a bike but his family couldn't afford one for him.
