Hahaaa...!
Yea, it was a common thing back then, and was some good fun for us kiddos...! :)
Also, we did switch out, often enough, between the camper and the cab, especially as we got older. I am the oldest, so I rode with my pop a lot in the cab on about the last 2 trips before we moved back to Texas. It was easier to get truckers attention from there, too.
Through Arizona I remember riding shirtless most of the time. There were plastic seat covers in the cab, so you can imagine that combo, but, we definitely stayed cooler. There was no A/C in either the truck or the camper, so windows in both were pretty much always wide open.
I could write a whole chapter on just those trips alone.
We visited so many places along the way.
Everything from the LBJ Ranch, Grand Canyon, Painted Dessert, Petrified Forrest, Yuma Territorial Prison, to the Roy Rogers Museum in Victorville, CA. (now closed), etc.
Again, goooooood memories...!!!!! :)
We got to sit in the back of the station wagon with the plug in tv. Washington Dc, Hershey/Lancaster Pa, Maine, Boston, mostly the entire northeast. I still enjoy going to Mount Vernon when I'm down that way

Eew!:jawdrop: Lucky for us we have yet to meet any of those up close and personal. Saw an armadillo nosing around by the ac unit of the cabin next door last June, but that is the only animal encounter.
We got chased by a water moccasin that came out of the brush at the adult pool. We ran backwards as fast as we could, he was on the cement sidewalk. I now don't walk near cars. Those and alligator's will seek shade when it get's hot.

So glad you didn't get stuck or diverted somewhere else. Long night for you guys though.

At our intermediate level building there is a psycho principal IMO ;) Every professional must 'turn in' their lesson plans 2 weeks in advance along with a mirrored adjusted sub plan to the principal for her to sign off on. (she often will scribble in and alter them for her teachers too.)
Can you say a control freak?

First day at my new job was today. A lot of training. My supervisor gave me an overview of everything first. She's a really sweet, soft spoken manager. I think she's about my dad's age. After she threw a bunch of information at me (and I showed her how to add people to favorites on Skype for Business) we took a break, and I got my desk set up the way I like it. I thought being new to the workplace that I would have no preferences about my desk setup. Turns out I'm rather picky about where the phone is. Then I had two other trainings on Microsoft office programs. I already knew most of what the training talked about, but it was still helpful. And then the person who was in the position before me (who got promoted) gave me another overview. So basically, I walked around the building in heels a good bit for the tours, and then around again trying to remember where everything was. Tomorrow I'm wearing flats. There's casual Friday at the office. I'm not sure anyone is looking forward to it more than me.

I was expecting I would be in a cubicle, but all of the midlevel managers on my floor have their own offices, so instead, I have a nice big desk right outside their offices and a computer with a two monitor setup.

Overall, it's so much better than my old job. Although I'm falling asleep already.
I'm glad that you waited for the right fit. Good luck on your new adventure!

We did quite a bit when I was pretty young, but, then mom and pop bought something like this...

The truck looks pretty much exactly like this, and pop still has it, and the camper was very similar, although long gone, now.

When I was in my late teens and early twenties, I started doing a lot of backpacking and tent camping trips again. Some of the best times of my young life...!!!
I am so comfortable in the outdoors.
There were also several times when we just took sleeping bags and a pillow and slept out in the pasture on warm summer nights at my grandparents farms. The stars and the Milky Way are beyond amazing away from all the city/suburb light clutter.
Really need to try to do a coupla' local weekend trips again in the next few years...if I can talk DWifey into it... ;)
Camping in Colorado is the best memories. But the tiki campground on the Atlantic, was fun too. That was before Disney opened. Now, it's hotels. We drive up to the mountains, and spend the day. Then clean up at a hotel and return home. Nice week-end.

We are likely in different places you being from a warm place...I just wish both AK and the Studios had more indoor choices for those warmer months. I do love the food at Flame but eating hot food outside in 95 degree heat wasn't fun.
Well feeding the birds was fun.....;) It is AK afterall.

Yep, on our summer trips to WDW, we expect to sweat...A LOT. But, we do that all summer long here, as well. As well as late spring and early fall, so we're acclimated. As I've mentioned before, it gets hotter here, but, the humidididididity is generally higher in Central Florida, so it's pretty much a wash. :)
